Seems the Superintendent is cleaning house. He will most likely be putting all his eggs in the basket by removing the revenue sports HC's. They have no teaching jobs to my knowledge... I hope they have someone in the district. Heck they haven't even hired their FB coach to work in the schools to my knowledge yet either. Which makes me wonder what they are doing.

I believe a lot of schools are going to have to go on a hiring freeze due to looming funding cuts across the board. Some positions will need filled but not unless absolutely necessary.

So the register says that he was let go due to parents complaints but they then offered him the head girls soccer position? That has to be the most ridiculous thing Iโve ever heard in relation to high school athletics.

Scott is a great guy. Any program would be lucky to have him.
I feel bad for the kid they just hired to run the football program. He will be toast in two years, if they donโt win.

Scott is a good man.. his family is top notch, you won't find better people.. You won't find a better teacher in the classroom and in the gym. This is a super who wanted to turn over a new leaf football basketball AD.. It is not an uncommon move.

Not uncommon? FB, AD, BB within a couple months. Hmmm. Pretty uncommon to me.

Not a good start in you want to clean house. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out. It is hilarious that they offered him the soccer job after telling him they were going to non renew him for the bball job. Thats a terrible look IMO.

Once they begin allowing the inmates to run the asylum, the really crazy ones will become even more demanding.

The next coach at Perkins will be Sandusky/BGSU grad Demar Moore. This has been in the works for a few months. He will bring his son with him, and some kids from Sandusky will probably transfer. The Green kid who played varsity for Sandusky will leave and I'm assuming a few more will also.

Wait, you're telling me Perkins fired a successful, upstanding, 18 year coach to hire a coach with 0 varsity experience because he got fired for a DUI before he had a chance to coach a game?? I'll believe it when I see it.

No, Perkins hired him because his son is a player and he promised to bring several other players with him. The only way to save Perkins basketball.

Is there a specific reason that Perkins would do this to a veteran coach with a great reputation just to get this kid and his friends?

I'll retract the "will be" and put it out there as a strong rumor. Another name being thrown out there is Frank Gioffre.

Not sure how Moore will do if that rumor is true. Didnโt he get hired at Sandusky at one time? I think Perkins needed a shake-up, especially with the number of kids Perkins lost over the years, st marys definitely benefited from Mcveigh

If these new hires, FB,Boys B-Ball, and AD quickly do not become popular with community, will they relieve them of their duties if parents complain? The precedent has been set. The concern I have for what they are doing is that I am under the impression they do not have current openings for teaching positions in the district?? (can someone verify) So, I feel like you put these new hires behind if they aren't in your building seeing the kids everyday, I think this is the part that I can't figure out. Now, they very well could move people around to hire them in, but there has been no word of that to my knowledge. Either way, I hope it works out for them. It just seems a little chaotic to me, on the outside.

With the lack of jobs available in the district, a Frank Gioffre hire would make sense. I believe he retired before he took the Terra job. In the article following his hire he talked about just being able to focus on basketball would be nice. I do agree though, being in the building is a bonus.

Did their board member resign have anything to do with the district's athletic house cleaning? Meaning...did she not agree with what's going on so she's stepped away or were there other reasons?
Also, does having four board members cause any issues accepting the superintendent's recommendation for non-renewal at the next meeting? I recall the board was split on the football hire but ultimately, came out united when the vote came to be.

If so theyโd potentially be missing 1 1/2 yearโs just to play at another school. Glad to see Demar get an opportunity just because you make a mistake in life doesnโt mean you shouldnโt get another chance.
