Shelby visits Pleasant Township for the first time to take on the Spartans. The Whippets won last year 54-33. Pleasant beat Harding last week 42-28 while Shelby beat Ontario 28-14. Thoughts on this one.....

I have some injury news on Shelby that I don't believe is mine to share (nor am I local enough to know the publicity of it at the moment), but the outlook for the season is going to be more bleak than hoped for.

I'm only in the loop so far as my mom has 50% Albert blood so I don't have a hard ruling. My understanding is if we were talking about a 10 week regular season, then no. This year it's hard to argue he'll come back.

When did the injury occur? Before, during or after the Ontario game? He didn't have anywhere close to the game he had against Ontario last year. I think he had 5 sacks in last year's game. I know he was in for Shelby's last offensive play with 45 seconds left in the game. He dropped a pass in the end zone on 4th down.

It's a collarbone injury. I don't know the timing of it either, but it is certainly an injury that could go unnoticed by the viewer if they didn't otherwise know.

That I cannot attest to.
Anyone know the streaming service for this game?

My nephew broke his collar bone and the doctor said all he could do for him was take Tylenol, sleep in a chair and try to move as little as possible. It happened on Shelby's last offensive play with 45 seconds left when they were trying to go up 35-14. Is there a lesson there?

Hindsight is 20/20. These kids have had a fraction of the practices and almost no scrimmage reps. I don’t think they were running up the score. More likely getting a few extra reps against a real opponent at game speed.

Ya, you'd think they'd kneel on the ball with game already over at that point. It's tough losing one of your best players that way. In 2018, Lucas lost one of their seniors (starting RB/ILB) to a broken leg while up 3 TDs in the 4th quarter (4 mins left) in a regional semi-final game. He was done for the year. We lost to Glouster Trimble (went on to the D7 state final) the following week by a TD in the final seconds.

Shelby has had their share of bad playoff injuries.
I say there is no lesson for Shelby in their final plays (bad luck, yes). I've seen a lot of game threads with the theme being "it was sloppy." Shelby had failed to convert twice within Ontario's 10 yard line. I interpreted things as an opportunity for another red zone scenario before facing Pleasant next week. I'm sure Ontario was fine because they got to rehearse their goal line stand for the third time that game.

Thanks for the link.
I find that spending $12 on a ticket in lieu of gas, bar expenses (I don't care if Weber's has $1.75 Busch Light, that adds up), and knowing the schools are getting hammered on a lack of usual gate receipts doesn't bother me in the slightest. I know others who disagree, and I can't say they don't have a grievance either.

Fisher goes 84 yards for the TD. Gross. He has to be close to 300 on the ground. Also had a punt return TD.

Whippets empty the bench. Fisher could have had 500 the way this was going.

That’s not a game. That’s conditioning. He should get a break from sprints next week.

Fisher had 346 on his TD runs alone. Broadcasters didn’t provide clear overall rushing total. Also had 49 yard punt return TD as well. He also had a long TD catch and run called back in the 3Q.

Pleasant that rough on defense? I watched the 1st half of the Shelby and Ontario game last week. I was not overly impressed with Ontario and they were able to keep it under control. I thought Pleasant and Shelby would be the game of the week in the MOAC this week. By the way... Lucas and Shelby might be one of the best games in the 6 game season
