After week one, North Central Ohio has 5 teams ranked #1 in the state (points wise) by Joe Eitel.
- D3 Ashland - D5 Marion Pleasant - D7 Lucas, Cardington & Mohawk
Let's goooooo! NCO is playing some pretty damn good football now-a-days!

Rather meaningless after one game. It's like calling an election after one vote is counted.

Hopefully it can continue for Cardington-Lincoln. Look what happened at Northmor. They started winning games, now they have a new turf field and new scoreboard.

Rather meaningless after one game. It's like calling an election after one vote is counted. One game is 17% of the season! Lol.

Speaking in generalities, since there is 83% of the season yet to play. The ONLY way the first win of the season gets a team ranked first in their region is if it came against a higher Division team. The higher the Division the higher the ranking. That team might not win a game the rest of the season, so every week into the season that win becomes less and less meaningful as far as Harbin Points. On the other hand, a team winning a game against the same or lower Division team in the first week doesn't garner as many Harbin Points. HOWEVER, as the season progresses if that lower Division team wins every game, it rewards the team that beat it in week one with more and more Harbin points every week. Obviously the lowest Division teams are always playing teams in the same or higher Divisions, whereas the teams in the highest Division are always playing teams in the same or lower Divisions. Joe Eitel will tell you that his first week is meaningless and not until after the last game is it substantive.

Lucas beating another D-IV team dropped them from 1st to 17th in Joe Eitel's D-VII rankings. Lucas has more 1st level points than any D-VII team in the state, but they have zero 2nd level points. It is well known that it's not as important what Division an opponent is in, as it is if their opponents are winning games. Good thing all teams make the playoffs.

Harbors are meaningless at this point. Which is great for any team who starts out slow but gets hot towards the end of the season.

Even though the points don't matter the coaches can look at the first level points when doing their seeding. It can be an indicator for some as many teams had to make major schedule adjustments just to get 6 games. This year you see some schools playing teams they may never have played in regular years. Lucas beating the MOAC is a good example of that. A D7 school playing two D4 schools so far.

Harbin points are indeed meaningless this season but you know damn well that coaches are going to reference Eitel's page when it comes to seeding teams.

My point on harbins not meaning anything is just that if a team starts slow and then gets hot, they are still in it. You eventually have to beat the good teams anyway.

It will be interesting to see if everyone elects to get in the playoffs, since it is an option. And then from there, how they divide the regions.

Don't forget, OHSAA will not be paying anything this year for playoffs expenses.

Will coaches be able to pick their spot on the bracket like basketball, or are they simply voting on seeding?
