Brian Spicer has been relieved of his duties as Fremont St. Joseph head coach. Spicer was 15-32 in 4+ seasons since taking over for T.J. Buckley.

So the head of school at SJCC shows up at practice accompanied by two deputy sheriffs and hands him a letter telling Spicer he's being relieved of his duties. Wow.

I am surprised he made it to this year after the ridiculous comments he made about the Lakota RB in the newspaper last year. He made himself look rather foolish. All that being said, SJCC was absolutely horrid this year.
I would think you catch him during the school day or call him in to the office before practice to drop the bomb on him, rather than make a spectacle at practice.

No away a coach should be fired with 3 games left and 3 games that they can win. Word around Fremont is a Assistant Coach went behind his back. ST. Joe looks bad.

I'm confused; what point SJCC was trying to make by releasing him? The talent isn't there like the Narducci days.

The part that is concerning is, unless there is an actual reason (disciplinary/criminal) to make the decision this early, the optics of firing a coach before the season finished is poison. SJCC isn’t the Atlanta Falcons, for Christ’s sake. Not that a tiny rural Catholic school is going to receive a competitive field of 30+ applicants for the vacancy, but the administration is going to have to assuage their next coach’s concerns about support.

St.joe looks bad.But you never ever fire somebody in middle of season, unless he did something wrongful to kids(abused) or something so bad that warrants it.There was a news messenger article he stated he was with his family when sheriff came with letter and he was shocked .I thought did ok with what he has.St Joe's has 20 kids for football if there lucky,so the kids they have are it.

I figure it is something serious if they couldn't wait a few weeks until the end of the season.

I'm haven't been a fan of Spicer when he was at Woodmore or St. Joe, but I will stand on the side of the coach on this issue. You can blame the asst. coach and a father. I was told the players were upset for Spicer.
