Shelby advanced knocking off defending D4 Champion Clyde 28-14. Van Wert advanced knocking off #1 seed Bellevue 41-22.
Have these 2 played before?

Had Bellevue won, it would have been almost a sure thing that Region 14 would have been paired up with Region 13 (Northeast) for the Final Four pairings, as their two schools are in Mentor and Youngstown. Since Van Wert won, you could make a reasonable case to match up Region 14 with Region 16 (Southwest), just like last season when Clyde got Wyoming in the Final Four. From what I quickly Google Map'd, it is hard to say. I would guess we draw Region 16.
Van Wert has some highlight videos on Hudl. Passing centric and 5-wide seems to be their style. That's not fantastic news for us.

I know someone from Van Wert. Says they are long and athletic with lots of speed. Fairly balanced offense. I see they’ve given up some points so this one could be a shootout.

Van Wert has a lot of speed on the perimeter and tries to stretch the field. They've actually been pretty solid defensively, even though they've given up some points. I've seen each of Van Wert's games this season and besides the speed, the one thing that stands out to me is the fact that they make teams pay for their mistakes. Bellevue had four turnovers and Van Wert turned three of those into touchdowns. They were driving on the other one but turned it over deep in Bellevue territory.

Shelby stalls mid field. Tries to draw VW offsides then attempts quick kick. Blocked. VW driving.

Just wondered if the Shelby football players are in school this week or their parents decided to keep them home another week and don't attend school!! In case you wondered what the H I am talking about the parent decided not to let their kids go to school last week. These parents may think Biden is going to give their kid a free college education also!! LOL Feel sorry for the players and the lose Saturday, but not the parents!!!

All of the districts have a remote learning option now. Many athletes have chosen this option during the season. I don't see the problem.

So they all were attending class before this and decide to pull them out just for that week!! Your remote learning has nothing to do with it!!

He wanted to do remote learning for the weeks leading up to the CC State Meet, to eliminate the possibility of contact tracing. Then go back to in school classes. They would not allow that, he was told that he could only change at the end of the semester and them not go back. BTW, Ontario's best girl CC runner and one of the best in the state was not allowed to run because of contact tracing and had to sit out the District meet. If she runs the team finishes 2nd at District behind State Champ Lex. Would finish 2nd at Regionals behind State Champ Lex and qualify for the State meet. None of that happened. She never tested positive. That scared the shat out of my grandson. Someone saying somewhere he might have been close to some who who might be positive.

At Shelby you have to choose one or the other for the whole semester. You can’t shift back and forth.
Having said that is it really a big deal for the football team to go remote for a week? They’re in the quarterfinals and cases are on the rise. If a handful of them get sick they lose an opportunity of a lifetime to play in the regional finals. Is it really that big of a deal for kids who go to school full time and work 3-4 hours per day between lifting, practice, and film to remote learn for a week?

There have been A LOT of poor decisions made all over the country the past 8 months and will continue to be made for who knows how long.

The chaos of kids going remote then coming back only for a sporting event would be another task to deal with in an already challenging school year. The right decision IMO would be to make the changes come at the semester break and start the grading period fresh. Other schools are doing this also.

There have been A LOT of poor decisions made all over the country the past 8 months and will continue to be made for who knows how long. Need I remind you that you were in favor of many of these "poor decisions" back in the spring. When my daughter's senior year was being stolen from her you were all about the lockdown. Let's see, what's changed since then? There are more people sick than ever. No cure or vaccine available the the general public until about April(maybe). Oh wait, now sports are being effected that you actually give a shat about. Now it's fine to play football but too dangerous for my daughter to throw a discus. Please spare me your newfound outrage WHEN the winter sports are shut down. You are all full of crap just like our governor.
