That was poor decision on the administration’s part, IMO. Good decision from where I am. At the time of the state meet kids have maybe a month until holiday break. The chaos of kids going remote then coming back only for a sporting event would be another task to deal with in an already challenging school year. The right decision IMO would be to make the changes come at the semester break and start the grading period fresh. Other schools are doing this also. So you are saying a kid doing his work from home for a week prior to participating in the state cross country meet is going to create some kind of chaos? If he quarantines at home and returns he puts other kids at zero risk and reduces his chances of ruining a chance of a lifetime to run in the state meet. Nobody gets hurt. That just seems like common sense.

That just seems like common sense. No, what I am saying is that there is chaos already with kids being pulled out of school and quarantined into remote learning to return later. Letting a kid voluntarily take a week off opens the door for any one to do the same for an event. Makes perfect sense to allow kids to change to remote learning but require them to transition back during the semester change. Other athletes in the area have done the same. They elected to go remote while playing in their fall sport and will return to in class school for the second semester. Pretty normal if you can call anything this year normal.

I’m not in charge and probably won’t ever be because I would let the athlete stay home to stay healthy for the state meet and if another parent came and wanted the same for no logical reason I would tell them no and explain the obvious difference between the two situations.

Galion....
You are not worthy of determining what a "poor decision" is.
YOU are being UNTRUTHFUL again. There are NOT "more people sick than ever". The TRUTH, the FACTS. There are more people testing positive now. Just because more people test positive does not mean they are "sick". The vast majority of people under the age of 55 that are healthy and test positive are not "sick". Many don't even know they have the virus. Many think they have a cold, a minor case of the flue, or their allergies are acting up. So they don't do anything about the annoyance. They get sicker and sicker, like happens with a cold or the flu. Walk around for a week or so, before finally being tested and find out they've had THE virus. In the mean time infecting dozens. Because they wait so long to be tested, they ARE sick and stupid. The REAL stupid ones don't care if they kill their parents and grandparents. Is that you?
THE problematic are teenagers, twenty yearolds and thirtysomethings. They know they won't be "sick" if they get the virus or think they are invincible. They get it and they spread it. I'm surprised some states with democrat governors haven't suggested to do to them what they did with Japanese Americans during WWII. Who was President then?
The more you type the more you prove your ignorance. My wife and I are still self quarantined. Have not eaten out in 8 months. Have not been to a movie in 8 months. Have not been to a football game. Don't plan to go to a basketball game, until vaccinated. Not allowed in our children's homes. Haven't been to a barber in 8 months. My wife has not been shopping for 8 months. The 30% off Kohl coupons just keep coming and she throws them away. What have you done?
READ and become learned. There will be 90 million vaccines available before 2021. Enough for those over 65 or with a health issue to be vaccinated.
More stupidity from you. I care about ALL sports, none are affecting(not effecting) me.
You are a hate monger leftist making a list to get back at, to cancel, to put down anyone that doesn't think you. I pity you and those of your ilk.

Some of us value the cross country meet higher than the fall musical but it would be tough as an administrator to favor one over the other.

I'm not going to call you a LIAR because I figure that at your age you're probably entering early onset dementia and can no longer distinguish between fact and fiction. IF we are lucky by April we will be able to vaccinate frontline responders, medical personnel, and at risk population centers(nursing/assisted living homes). Oh, and there is no metric that exists for you to claim that there aren't more people sick and hospitalized than ever before. Oh by the way, our leftist governor is about to shut us down again. What have I done? I've been working 6 and 7 day weeks since late Feb. But that pales in comparison to throwing away Kohls coupons.

well if this is becoming political in here in a van wert shelby topic, then the moderators need to shut down this topic because this is getting way out of topic. if you want to discuss about the education and covid do it in the general discussion room.

You would deny THE TRUTH to save face. Your boys are WAY WAY further left than your Gov. The COVID task force put together by Biden's handlers have said it's only right that the Pfizer vaccine made in this country should go to the rest of the world before all those on your list get their vaccine. Keep your head down at work. You'll need the shekels to buy masks the CDC and YOUR boys say you MUST wear for 2 more years. The difference between you and me? I present facts, logic and actual scenarios. That you call misinformation, but have nothing of substance to add. BTW, it is a lie to imply I called you a liar.

He attacked me for just pointing out, like others had done on this thread, how an athlete at one school wanted to change to home schooling for a few weeks leading up to a State Championship. I will not let that stand and will continue to respond in kind until galion stops with the personal attacks....THAT HE STARTED.

You've literally called me a liar many times on this forum before. Don't engage in falsehoods. If you cannot recall this simple fact how am I supposed to trust in any other "facts" you claim to present? I have to wear a mask at work. So what? If that tiny sacrifice keeps businesses open and people employed I fail to see the issue in it. I'm still at a loss how you and those of your ilk have such a hard on about wearing masks but follow like sheep when our governor shuts down businesses and puts people out of work, as if wearing a mask can possibly be a larger infringement upon someone's liberties than literally taking away their ability to provide for their family.

You're proving you lack of knowledge. I wear a mask ALL the time when I have to go out. Typical of those of your ilk, you make ASSumptions, then throw about unjustifiable insults. If you're not bright enough to read and comprehend, how can anyone believe anything you say? More proof of you not knowing me due to not paying attention. I believe every restaurant owner has the right to remain open as long as they do all they can to mitigate the possibility of spreading the virus. I CHOOSE not to eat out, to decrease the possibility of contracting THE virus. You are in favor of freedom of choice aren't you?? We do get carryout on occasion. What I do to help the owner of the business is pay 25% more than what the bill is. What do you do to help? When this virus is under control and we're vaccinated, my wife and I plan on spending twice as much as what we haven't spent with small business owners due to self quarantining.

You're hate is blinding your ability to comprehend. OR you're not bright enough to see the difference between what I pointed out and your daughter not being able to throw the discus last year. I NEVER SAID your daughter should be disallowed from throwing the discus. I wished there had been a track season for more than one reason, but I had no more say in the matter than you did. Yet you as a hater, has to have someone to hate. Not to bright of you to chose me. AGAIN... you make ASSumptions, most likely I am tougher than you have ever been wussy one. You do not want to compare notes.
