by the time his contract is paid out he will have made $50 million for ruining what was once one of the great conferences in America...no National Titles in Basketball or Football during his tenure, and only (1) Final Four in roughly a decade
would love to hear some thoughts from the West Coasters (the real ones who live on the west coast not the fake ones who rep LA teams but live in gd Ohio) on what it is like to come out the other side and do you think the P12 will ever get back to LEGIT status?

Larry Scott was an unmitigated disaster. He moved Pac 12 headquarters from Walnut Creek to San Francisco costing the the league a fortune. His Pac 12 television network has been wasted due, in large part, to Scott’s refusal to negotiate in good faith with Directv. He continues to insist that the carrier include the network’s 4 regional channels as well as it’s featured channel so that diehards like me don’t even receive the broadcasts.
Loads of potential to restore the conference to its former glory. The league’s great showing in the Big Dance is evidence. We need to keep our great stable of athletes in the region. His successor needs to ensure that their games are available on the tube or they’ll migrate to fly-over states where folks take college athletics more to heart.

The mealy mouthed way he handled last football season was a travesty. Too risky, we’re not playing. The athlete’s safety is our prime concern. Oh, everyone else is playing? We’ll play but start late enough so that none of our teams will have a shot at the playoffs

Well, if you recall, I’m a liberal as opposed to a progressive. I think Newsome is an opportunist. He and the legislature are engaged in a massive spend off of a of the state’s enormous tax revenue boon to ensure he won’t lose his gig. There is no chance he will be recalled and the big spend is a waste.
Fun fact, in the early 80’s I was the local high school boys’s JV coach. We were pretty good and faced off against Redwood High from Marin Co.’s Larkspur, upscale community. We won pretty easily. A few years ago one of my former players called me. He asked if I still had the scorebook from that year. I did. He had a scrapbook of news articles on the season . He asked me to check the box score. G.Newsome scored 8 pts. In that game, left handed shooting guard. His high school years match up. He got a scholly to Santa Clara as a left handed pitcher. We won the game 58.40.

Just curious, what brought about the state's "enormous tax revenue boon"?

Enjoying the read, but I'm wondering what the hell the difference is between the two terms? Didn't know there was a bit of difference.

The booming stock market is the primary reason for our huge tax surplus. Our taxes on stock based gains are the highest of any state. A secondary cause is our large, highly paid workforce.
Progressives are to the left of the more traditional liberal wing.

Rather have Scott than Kevin “No upper teeth” Warren I was thinking the two are quite comparable, unfortunately.
