It doesn't matter on football team size, its class size that determines Divisions.

I don't care about Harding being a Division 2 school. We beat them last year (we are a division 5 school), and we will...... LOL Let's not talk about the JA/Harding match-up just yet. Harding still has to get by Galion this week. Let's see how they do against a 1-4 team (Galion) who hasn't scored more than than a total of 26 points in their last 3 games. If they put it to us AND do not allow us to score more than 14 points, I'm a believer. LOL

After doing a little checking, since a statement was made on another topic, my thoughts of Harding having a football rich tradition with high levels of playoff success have been corrected. Pleasant is the Marion school with the success and rich tradition. Harding has been above average at times in their regular seasons but very limited in playoff success. I stand corrected.

Per OHSAA Harding is 3-5 in playoff games with appearances in 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002 & 2003 and no regional titles. According to JoeEitel they lost in the first round in 2001, 2002 & 2003. I can't find results for their first 2 playoff appearances, but based on the structure of the playoffs those years and knowing that they never won a regional title but did win 3 games, they must have won 1 game in the 1998 playoffs and 2 games in the 2000 playoffs, losing in the regional title game both seasons. Can anyone confirm that?

From what I saw they beat Hoover in 1998 then lost to Canton McKinley. Was this when they only took 4 from each region?
In 2000 they beat Massillon Washington, Mansfield Senior and then lost to Massillon Perry. By this time they were taking 8 from each region so it added a game.

Hell they have fewer playoff appearances and wins than Galion does and we certainly don't claim to have a rich football tradition.

Some "golly gee wiz, who really cares?" information from the OHSAA website. Marion Harding ranks 79th in the state by number of victories with a record of 431-505-31. Pleasant is the other Marion county team checking in at number 82 with a record of 401-155-0.

Long tradition of football? Yes. " Rich tradition"? Not close.
