League will be way down. Ellis,Koenig,Craycraft, and Wallace will be the studs of the league. I'll go with Ellis as MVP of league and others as 1st teamers. I'd guess Rayburn would be my 5th but don't think he's improved since MS. Here's whay I said on Nov 5th. I'll stick with it.

I thought I was the only one who thought Rayburn hasn't improved much. In ms everyone was impressed by him. But he has the same game since then and about the same size. Just stronger. He hit his peak early.

My prediction is that Rayburn doesn't concentrate on basketball.

Why ya guess that? But I've seen sometimes he doesn't look invested out there.

My prediction is that Rayburn doesn't concentrate on basketball. He doesn't play any other sport... so what does he focus on?

Well I told you we would get beat by 30 points. We got beat by 30 points exactly. I know my basketball. LOL Against Harding we will get beat by 42 points. We just gradually fall behind..and behind..and behind. We had one of our sub..a big kid throw up an underhand free throw that rolled around and around and then went in. It was hilarious! The crowd went wild. LOL

Pirates beat Centerburg, leaving them and Northmor tied for the Blue lead.
Big kid for Centerburg had 32 and two nasty dunks but he was there whole offense. Refs babied him a lot but he made it count.
Pirates with 5 in double figures like they have much of the season. Two Blue games left with Elgin and Highland separate the Pirates from their first title since 2010. Hope they pull it off....

If Northmor wins the MOAC Title it will be their first basketball league title in school history. I understand their 6-6 center and 6th man are back playing, after missing the 2 games they lost recently.

Shaq tried it and couldn't make 50%

The 4th quarter of the Galion game was a mess. I'll admit the underhand free throw by the big man was fun but the rest was kind of annoying. Multiple lob attempts trying to get a dunk when we were down by 30+ and then another player doing underhand after he missed the first attempt and the bench was yelling for him to do it. It looked like we were winning by 30 instead of losing. The 4th quarter looked more like kids just messing around in a pick up game at the Y. Losing by 30 is tough enough but the circus in the 4th quarter was something I'd never seen.

Yeah! I will agree. I was VERY surprised that he brought the some of the starters back in. I told my mom. Chase was done for the game when the 4th quarter came, and the coach took them all out. Then like 2 minutes later here comes everyone back in. No clue why, the reserves were actually scoring a bit too. The only reason I'm thinking is it's the last game for my son. I got to be honest the head coach really likes my son..probably way too much. LOL Just being honest here, Chase doesn't produce on the court like he should. He just can't get it together this year. Was being consistent, and he's got decent moves around the hoop. But he just can't rebound effectively. I get on him soooo much for that..every..single..game. But I also blame the coach for that, because he's standing out on the 3 point line watching someone else take a shot. I never understood why a kid 6'4" plays away from the basketball hoop 50% of the time. The team looks so disoriented like the whole game. I'm gonna give the coach that this is his first year initiation season/period, but next year if this team looks this disoriented....ahhhhhh yeah.. Here's to our next 2 games---GO TIGERS!!!

I saw that Alder won the 9th grade tournament in OT vs MH. Anyone know if the three 9th graders for BV that play JV & Varsity played for the BV 9th grade team in this tourney? BV`s 9th grade class has some serious ballers....I`d be stunned if they couldn`t win that 9th grade tourny with all their 9th graders playing.

A1 I'd doubt if they played Clark or Max in freshman tournement. Dillion has been varsity all year so know he didn't. BV 7th put a hurting on Galion in championship game 51-19. Get them and freshman class together and will be something to see. BV got independence in tourney.

^^^ BV could be really dangerous then. Especially with how hard Gast gets his kids to play..... Galion gets future MOAC member, Clearfork, in the first round.

I'm not sure why he put the starters back in either. I think he kept Chase in until the end though to play with the other seniors that he later put in.... I agree with you that Chase should definitely be playing more around the basket. I feel that our best games this year have been the games where we posted him up and tried to establish an inside game. Even the losses were more competitive when he was playing around the basket.... The only reason I'm not willing to give the coach a break this year is that I do not think the team has got ANY better throughout the year. ZERO improvement IMO.

I would be shocked if he is still the coach next year. I am certain he was a stopgap measure so that they could take their time and do a thorough coaching search once the season is over. That being said you all ought to get off of his *** and show him a little gratitude for stepping up to the plate and being willing to do it given the circumstances.

Actually I like Coach Valentine. He loves my son. He's does a lot of extra things for him. He let Chase join after the season started. Coach Valentine keeps in touch with me during the season privately. I think he's doing a decent job. I think he needs to be more forceful with the kids next season. He needs to focus more on conditioning and ball-handling skills. The practices need to be harder. He needs to get them out of the "it's ok to lose" mentality. Also a loss is really a win at times. I don't believe that at all.
We went from a crazy vocal coach last year to easy-going Coach Valentine this year. I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back next year. I'd give him one more year to show improvement. I bet our Principal and Athletic Director is ok with a laid-back nature of our coach and getting no complaints about the conduct of their head coach from "select" parents. They don't seem like they have a problem with losing either. I'd be willing to bet Coach Valentine will be back next year. Any takers? LOL

You are virtually in the same position as last year. Nobody wanted then, who will want it now?

BV loses to Mifflin 58-36. 23-17 half. 3qtr guards turned it over to much vs press trying to dribble the Spaulding of off ball. And when they did get shots, they weren't good ones.
