You are virtually in the same position as last year. Nobody wanted then, who will want it now? Only thing about last year is Galion didn't give themselves much time to find a new coach. Our old coach didn't quit until...what in the football season, wasn't it? I know it seemed late, because we thought he was for sure going to be our coach again. I could be wrong. Someone correct me if I am.

I'm sure there were a lot of coaches that would have applied but did not want to leave their team that close to the season. We'll see what happens though, I don't trust our AD to make the right decisions.

It was late but there were need we start this again, there were qualified candidates that applied/looked into this job and then walked away.
Without trying to be negative, WHY would anyone want the Galion job? Parents have proven to be a pain. Just ask the last 3 coaches. Talent is down. Enrollment is going back up so they will probably be DII again.

I understand what you're saying but it is a Varsity head coach job and I believe there will be some qualified candidates that would be willing to take a chance. Another thing that does hurt us though is that we may not have a teaching position to offer which makes it harder sometimes to land a qualified coach.

The job opened up literally 2 weeks before practices officially started. To be honest, I wouldn't hire a coach who was willing to walk out on his team that close to the season to take this job.

I don't trust the Galion management at all in making a good decision. One of the reasons Coach Hawkins left was no teaching position. That would be a hard sell for someone moving into here. I would be apprehensive on taking the job too due to the "select" parents and their influence on the Galion principal and AD. Plus you are right I don't know how good our basketball team will be in the next few years. I heard we got a good football team coming up, but I haven't heard anything about our basketball team than from what I've seen...and I say, "oooh my!" lol

They have several really good players. But that's about 3 years before they can make a meaningful contribution at the Varsity level. Our 8th grade team has a couple decent players but that's it.

And you had a Freshman starting at PG on varsity this year and another couple of Freshmen contributing on JVs. With good coaching, all it takes for a decent team is to have a couple of good players in every class and a few role players who understand their rolls. Ya gotta walk before you can run.

And you didn't see any coaches walkout on their teams to take this job. Possibly a near by JV coach who wants to be a varsity coach, but doesn't see it happening anytime soon at his current school. Teach there, coach at Galion.

I have always thought JH teams can be VERY misleading as some kids grow early or mature young.

Red and blue titles won tonight? MH wins Red, BV can't score the ball. 55-39. Northmor vs highland, seen highland, not impressed so will go with bigs of Northmor 61-53.

Harding, BV was 7-3 end of 1.everytime I think it can't get any worse. BV had a 10 sec call bringing ball up, and MH wasn't pressing. That's the season in a nut shell. Ellis played well. Mvp of league.

Northmor clinches at least a share of their first ever title by beating Highland tonight. Cardington beats Elgin and has a chance to split the title if they beat Highland Saturday night. Should be a great atmosphere.

This is the first time I saw Harding play and I can see how they won the conference. Their defense struggled at times but other than that they were impressive. If they had size they would be much better though. The Browley kid plays well on the inside but a big man with more height would definitely help.... Congrats on winning the conference!

Defense is usually strong point, but yes no big man browley is the biggest but he's physical so matches well with most. Galion didn't look to bad at times.
