That's a loss, they've went backwards from first 2 games. Lacking consistency early.

That's bad. Someone didn't come to play. Like last year JA blew Harding out then Harding blew them out. Nu get better?

Maybe a little but the score was 55-51 going into the 4th and Galion mainly just blew it after that

New to this site, but as a fan of MOAC basketball through the years, I can't help but comment on some of these posts. 1. MOAC is really weak this season. Pleasant had a nice win vs. a below average OCC team in Hayes. Hayes will get demolished in OCC play. Pleasant stands around too much on offense in my opinion and is not discipline on defense. Bad loss last night vs. Northmoor. 2. BV has won the league 5 out of the last 6 seasons. They are one of the best coached teams in the league. They lost 6 senior guards from last year's team. They are rebuilding. If you have watched them play in the two games this season, they lack scoring threats and they certainly don't have anyone who can score inside. Their big man inside played JV as a junior and is soft and weak even though he is tall. Obviously, some of you haven't paid attention that much in the past because about 4 years ago when they had the Crawford kid inside and Tomlinson and Clark as the guards and they killed teams feeding the ball into Crawford. Since the Crawford kid, they have not had any true post players thus they play the way they do. They will compete and play as hard as any team in the league and I see them getting better as the year progresses but it will take some time with so many new players. 3. Alder and Harding are also very well-coached and will be right in the mix. Both teams are organized and play solid defense. The Ellis kid for Harding is a very solid player and so is the Koening kid from Alder. Questions remain about the players around both of these guys on their respective teams. 4. RV, Galion are very down this season. *Weak season for MOAC. Don't see much success in the tournament either for any of these teams.

I've watched BV for last 20 yrs and they don't work it inside. Look up Crawfords stats at moac. He's not in top 6 in scoring which tomlison is and he only ave 13. And to show how they didn't pass inside, he only ave 6 reb a game. Spread offense and no rebounding. Last time they used an inside player was Doug K about 10-11 years ago. Crawford was long and if he was inside would ave 6 off reb a game alone

Franklin Hts opponents so far have a combined record of 16-5. They have played some pretty good competition for an 0-5 start.

Weeeeellll Galion just gained some size...not saying a good basketball player..but size. LOL My son went to their Cardington game last night, and he's practicing tonight with Galion. I knew all it took was a coach or another parent to rag on him for not playing. So he's back...don't know what to expect honestly.

I can understand your excitement but does any other team keep their tryouts open until after the 4th game? Will some Galion parents be sending anonymous letters to the school admins because of the playing time he will now take from their son?

Scooter - I was thinking along those same lines... no offense to galiontiger, but I would find it very difficult to just allow someone to join when it is convenient for them or convenient based on the situation. Once again, no offense to galiontiger, but allowing an individual to just join a team after days/months of practice and off-season work has been completed by other team members... wholeheartedly do not agree with this being allowed within any sport..... Speaks volumes to those in charge and allowing this to happen...

I see issues from this also. No offense to gt or his son, but this can set a precedent that is difficult to change or explain later. The biggest being kids can come and go when they want. Tough spot to be in.

No offense but I can't believe they are letting him join. That shouldn't be allowed. How can he be allowed to play after missing 6-7 weeks of practice, that's crazy. Again, no offense to you or your son but I just find it ridiculous that he is being allowed to join this late.

I think he finally recovered fully from the injury suffered during football season, and is now ready to play basketball. What if that were the case, should he be allowed to join the team then?

Then I would think the coaches, players, AD and all involved would have know that were the case. IN the Dad's own words, the kids came home and said he was not playing. This is simply a kid changing his mind, which happens, and being allowed to join a team after the season has already started to be played, which many feel should not be allowed to happen.

In the 2nd phase of tryouts can 11 football players now tryout since they've had 6 weeks of vacation? Does the only previous experience of being the 6th grade coach have a bearing? Next year can half the basketball team wait until after the season starts to come out?

Has he been at practice everyday, riding a stationary bike? Walking on a treadmill? Lifting weights? Shooting free throws? If one is REALLY planning on playing basketball when at full strength, that would be the LEAST that would be done.

That's probably the excuse they will use to try and justify this but as Willard pointed out he still should've been at practice everyday. There is no way this has anything to do with his knee. This is just a kid deciding after 4 games that he wants to play now.

Next year can half the basketball team wait until after the season starts to come out? Apparently we'll let people join whenever they want as long as the coaches feel they can help them win. I'm sure lack of coaching experience has something to do with it but you do not need coaching experience to have the right values. Also this shows that our AD does not care what goes on or else he wouldn't allow it. I'm sure losing the last 3 games by 20 plus points also factors into the decision.... I'm sure galiontiger will get on here and explain things in more detail. He seems pretty reasonable most of the time so I think he will understand everyone's perspective

Of course I'll comment..LOL - Gt1975....first off...I could careless if he plays basketball. He should if his teammates want him to though. I was just as shocked as you guys are. I knew when he went to watch them play Cardington..some of the fans would harass him about not playing on the team this year. And that's exactly what I heard happen. Hell! The last night I went to pick up something from a local store and the guy was like, "Yeah! I saw "them" talking to Chase. I knew he was going to be...." I was like thinking.."Man! Word travels fast in this town."
Maybe they gave Chase more leeway, because he was on the team last year. Maybe they just needed him to play for them due to his presence in the middle. No clue. It's not like someone just walking on the team. You are right it's not fair in the sense of him not being at practices. There has been an agreement made by the team or someone, so it's now fair to the team. He's to sit out a certain number of games. I'm not going to say how many. I would think it would be up to the team though, and not "guys sitting on NC Sport Talk" to decide. ha! I'm looking at it as you would bring the team together and say, "Do you want this guy on the team..he hasn't been practicing with you guys..he hasn't.... Do we want him to play with us?" Then you take a team vote on it, it would have to be unanimous in my eyes. I don't know how they handled it. AND if some Galion parents throw a hissy fit over now, he won't play. I doubt it's going to break his heart or he would have stayed with the team. I do know he was pumped about his first practice with the team. He "seemed" excited to be part of the team. I know if he doesn't play I'm TOTALLY fine with it. No 2-3 hour nights of sleep for me before I drive to Wooster for work on game nights. Ooooh! I'm so ok with it. LOL
Here's my take now: the Galion parents shouldn't have forced Coach Bright out in the first place. My son would have still been on the team. Because Coach Bright would have made Chase play, just like he did at Crestline. His knee had nothing to do with it. I doubt it's 100%, but he didn't even wear the knee brace at practice last night, and him a former player had a dunk contest between each other. Chase loves basketball, but he wasn't happy when Coach Bright was forced out. If he doesn't play for this team; it won't be the end of the world for him. His focus is still on "trying" to get "some" kind of football scholarship. AND baseball in the spring. Go Tigers!!!

Thanks for the info. I figured you would understand everyone's point of view. I wish we could have more discussions like this where people do not get angry and take things personal..... I hope he does play just so we can get another galion bball fan active on the site.
