Only one I see surviving the 1st round is Shelby.

any chance CF can make it more of a game the second time? I don't think so, but stranger things have happened. I feel like Shelby has a favorable draw to be honest.

Harding game depends on which Harding shows up.

richrod, i think shelby has to match clyde's physical play on the lines in order to beat clyde.

Marion Harding at Uniontown Green - Could be a high scoring affair. I like Green though, they played a tougher schedule and are at home. It has been nice to see Harding improve this year!
Clear Fork at Shelby - Shelby, maybe a little closer, but CF had no chance at matching up with the skill of Shelby. Should be a great second round game between Clyde and Shelby.
River Valley at Medina Buckeye - Buckeye, they are physical and can play defense, something RV does not do.
Galion at Clyde - Clyde by 40
Pleasant at Elyria Catholic - EC by 30
Columbus Linden McKinley at Highland- I know nothing about Linden McKinley, so I am taking Highland
Fredericktown at Northmor - Northmor by a few scores
Centerburg at Nelsonville York - Centerburg had a good season, but it ends this week against a solid Nelsonville York squad

richrod, i think shelby has to match clyde's physical play on the lines in order to beat clyde. not if they get the ball out as quick as they normally do, Clyde gave up a ton of points to Tiffin who was threw the ball all over the place according to the article. Clyde will have to create turnovers and limit shelby posessions to put them away easily. If not, could be a shootout and Shelby is more of that type of team than Clyde, IMO

Shelby is playing back-to-back home games against Clear Fork. By chance, I was looking up other matchups in the state and saw that Wheelersburg will host West Portsmouth two weeks in a row as well. I recall this happening in 2008 where Bellevue hosted Tiffin twice in a row. Bellevue lost both times, by 12 in game one and by 3 in game two.

Shelby has too many athletes compared to CF. There were a few instances last Friday where Sheppard threw it up and let his receivers make a play. Basically a “my guy is more athletic than yours”. I would expect Carroll to have a few new wrinkles up his sleeve but I don’t think it will be enough to pull off the upset. As far as Clyde goes, I think we would be in trouble. I am one of the biggest Shelby homers on here and I don’t think we could play with the cream of the SEC, I mean SBC. Plus they might have a tiny chip on their shoulder after last year.

To add to this crazy playoff change, I wonder if any talk has been had about schools opting out? I see that one did. I was also told the some at River Valley were discussing this option. After starting 5-2 the Vikings have gone winless in their last 3 games. This included a beating by a team with 3 wins on the year that finished 13th in the region. Now RV has to travel to Medina Buckeye and play a 7-3 team who plays a much tougher schedule.
If there are big blowouts this year, will teams that get the bottom seeds consider 10 games enough and move on to winter sports?

Not every coach supports the idea of 16 teams in every region is playoff worthy.

Not many will opt out this year, a few next year, but after 2 years of bad beat downs and a couple of serious injuries caused by the bigger faster harder hitting teams. At 3-7 you won't want to go play the best team in the state.

Interesting note about the strength of the MOAC. Under the traditional 8 team per region format, only Shelby would have qualified for the playoffs. Shelby would have been a #7 seed, going on the road to #2 Clyde in the first round.
Can the MOAC pull a few upsets to take away the pain of a down year?

Green over Harding 27-0 in 2nd. Small surprise by the margin. Clyde 28-0 over Galion in 2nd. No surprise. Will get worse. R Valley 20-14 over Buckeye at half. No surprise. Buckeye 1-8 in playoffs the last 9 seasons. Shelby CF going as expected.
