On to week 7. The 1-5 Tigers travel to River Valley to take on the 3-3 Vikings who were victorious over Fairbanks by a 42-27 score. The Tigers lost to Harding 40-12. This is the third meeting between the schools with each team winning their meeting at home. Galion played a decent first half against Harding before watching it slip away in the second half. Thoughts on this one.....

We "hopefully" score some points. I haven't really followed RV yet. I picked us to win, cause I'm starting to feel bad for our team. Lol

I predict a 34-21 game....River Valley. I just got no confidence in our defense at all. Just being honest. I don't know if I've ever seen a more inconsistent tackling team ever. One play amazing..next play 42 yard touchdown run with 4 missed tackles. I still love my team and maybe we can get a couple wins before the season ends. Go Tigers!!

Like I said in another thread, I have a feeling that we have a chance in the next two games. I may be delusional for this week but am pretty optimistic (optimistic, not confident) about Fairbanks.
I remember when I was in my twenties or something like that (either 1990s or 2000s, must have been before 2002 since I couldn't find it in the archives on Joe Eitel's site). My alma mater MG was 2-6 I believe and Ridgedale was 8-0 and MG destroyed them.
Strange things happen sometimes in HS football.

We will win "IF" we can stop their run. If we can't, they will probably score every other time they get the ball...and run the clock down on each drive. We should be able to put on some points on them though. Hopefully we can come together as a team this week. We soooooooooooooooooooooooo need a win.

Who knows how this game plays out. I've watched like 5 minutes of the RV/Fairbanks game. I just think we are going to have trouble stopping there offense running all the time like that. The only hope we can have is our offense just erupt, and we can make a few stops on defense. We will have a chance then. Gonna try and get my son to run a little more to open our offense up.

Well my son said they had a very good week at practice...whatever that means and does it translate over to a good game is anyone's guess. I got hope. I think you are going to see a more mobile quarterback this week. Maybe not like against like Cardington..but a little bit more.

Halftime 14-0 RV. Galion could be in this game if not for dropped passes and taking some unnecessary sacks.

We will not win another game this year. That's just being brutally honest. We had 2 potential passes dropped in the first half. Missed field goal by inches it looked like. Then still only down 14-0 at half. We run back the kickoff like 80 yards for a touchdown only to get a block in the back penalty called on 40 yards down the sideline. We just can't stop the run. We put them on one yard line before the half ended and within 2 plays they were down to our like 20 yard line. They had runs of like 70 and 60 yard runs. It was ridiculous. We had chances to come back early in the 3rd. My son taking unnecessary sacks, because he's favoring his knee. He didn't run tonight like I wanted him too. He had a perfect opportunity in the 1st quarter up the middle...ran stopped..then started back up, then it was too late. Only made about a 7 yard run..should have been at least a 20+ run. I don't know what to say. We had dropped passes. We made some good completions this game, just couldn't get in the end zone.

Didn't expect that. Rv even gave up 27 to Fairbanks. That'll be a long last 3 games.

That is a little ignorant to think Galion would compete with RV.

I wouldn't call that ignorant Stanley, many people thought since rv allowed Fairbanks to score 27 that maybe galion would put up some points

Ignorant to think we could compete with River Valley? My goodness we moved up and down the field on them all game long. It should have been 14-14 at half..and us 21-14 at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. We could beat that team, I don't care what the score was. We give up too many big plays. I think their quarterback only tried throwing the ball like maybe 5 times the whole game..3 completions. It's just ridiculous. We had them in a 3rd and 8 to start the game off on their first possession, but we gave up a big pass play. They also went on 4th and 8 on like our 35 yard line with only 2:25 left in the game. Threw a bomb in the corner of the end zone I did not like that call. Thought it was a little unnecessarily running the score up, especially when we got the ball back we didn't even throw just ran the ball. But maybe I'm being a little sissy. LOL

You're right it is the same exact words though some opponents make our obvious flaws more obvious than others.
I dont think it ignorant to believe we could compete. The problem is that we seem to have all the athletes to be a great team. Strong arm quarterback, big linemen, speedy receivers/dbs. But translating the physical attributes into team football just hasn't happened yet.
Yeah, GT, that stop your son pulled on that run was bewildering. Looked like the first down was his for the taking and he just froze. Some overthrows and underthrows as well. But dont be too hard on him.
I wouldn't say rv ran the score up and like i believe Bobby Bowden said, its our teams job to stop the other team, not the coach's.
Also, compliments to rv. Great place to watch a game. Love the high school stadiums without a track putting distance between the fans and the game.

Looked like the first down was his for the taking and he just froze. Some overthrows and underthrows as well. But dont be too hard on him. You are 110% right...in all aspects to your post. We looked at the play a couple of times...his run (scramble). He runs through the line and someone grabs for the ball. You can't see it from our sideline, because it was on the home side and that's where the video is shot from. When I remember the play it almost looked like someone grabbed his fanny pack, and he spun around. The player actually leaps out and tries to snatch the ball, but the player slips off it and Chase spins around. It is a weird looking play. I was so confused watching that in real time. But Chase's knee hasn't healed fully, he still has pain in it. He's just not comfortable running on it yet. I'm hoping it gets better each week, and he starts testing it more. When he doesn't scramble, it really takes a good portion of effectiveness away. So we will see what he can do against Fairbanks.
