OH wins this game easily. What does the rest of their schedule look like, will they go .500? If not I have to believe that is the end for May

They will not make .500 unless a miracle happens. Best case I see if 4-6 with wins over SJCC and Vermilion. May is going nowhere. Apparently Oak Harbor is happy with being a soccer power nowadays.

Hard to not become apathetic when the coaches are putting that type of product on the field.

After the season I think I will dive into this subject with several of ya'll I find OH present football culture intriguing, I get the feeling that it matches Margarettas downward spiral in the mid 2000's which was caused by about 3 people- but that is a story for another day.

Be more than happy to discuss it with you. Both of my boys played for May.

I would too. My son's senior season was 2012 so he unfortunately played his entire hs career under may.

The boys did not like May as a coach nor did they like many of the assistants. The coaches are responsible for what is on the football field. It's a poor coach and a poor leader that places blame on his kids for the teams failings.

My son could not stand may as a person or coach or teacher for that matter. He blamed the kids for losses many times. He squandered playoff caliber teams in 10, 11, and 12. Is that enough ?

I will grant you that it is the coach's responsibility to put the players in the best possible position to succeed but at some point the players have to go out there and execute. It sure sounds like there are enough people whispering(and some shouting) in their ears derogatory things about the coach(es) that their minds are probably made up about him before they walk in the door.

I was one of his biggest supporters when he came on board in 08. He had good credentials and I knew my son would play for him in high school. The debacles that were 08 and 09 soured a lot of folks on him. Poor coaching decisions cost OH playoff appearances in 10, 11, and 12. They each were winning seasons only because of great athletes in those classes. Since 12 it has been a sea of mediocrity. I have no dog in the fight but I still care for the kids and a winning football team puts butts in the seats and money for the school. I wish OH the greatest of success but I feel Coach May isn't the guy to get it done. Again just my opinion. I hear lots of folks support him.

I'm taking St. Joe in this one. SJCC has the 2nd leading QB by yards in NW Ohio (as far as the stats I've come up with so far). Harrison also has several receivers to go to on a regular system. If SJCC didn't have the passing game I'd take Oak Harbor in a heart beat, but if Nicely torched Oak Harbor in passing yards, don't be surprised to see Harrison put up 300-400 yards passing on the Rockets this week.

OH wins by 3 TD's unless they have totally given up.

Guess it depends on the OH defense which has been pretty porous so far this year. Could come down to a shootout kinda game. SJCC air attack vs OH running game. Last one to score wins

I don't think SJCC's quarterback has any college looks. Yes, SJCC lost to Margaretta. They've also lost like 17-of-18 games, but normally I'd pick OH, but if Nicely picked apart OH's defense, and that's a struggle they have against other teams, then I think advantage goes to Crimson Streaks.
Then again, Genoa v. OH game surprised me as well, so if SJCC comes in with a giving up attitude, they'll lose.
Still going to guess SJCC surprises OH unless QB gets hurt or they lose but QB still puts up 300-400 yds.

I'll eat some serious crow tonight. The Rockets' defense really shored things up and they were head and shoulders better than SJCC

My guess is the later more then the former. On the bright side for Oak Harbor. If they can somehow get to 5 win's they could very well make the playoff's. The 8th seed in R14 is wide open and Oak Harbor could get it if they can beat Vermillion and upset either Perkins or PC.

Both. SJCC's QB had some very nice passes early on that normally would have gone for completions/TDs but Oak Harbor's defense was all over it. The same with Oak Harbor's defensive line. They were putting pressure on Harrison more than other teams have this year against SJCC.

Going 5-5 and barely getting into the playoffs, only to be destroyed by Port Clinton or Ottawa-Glandorf or Jonathan Alder is pointless. It would just fool people into thinking the program is doing well.

Totally disagree ^^^. Been down this road before. A playoff appearance for OH would be huge after a 9 year drought. I don't care if they get crushed in round 1. Going to the playoffs was a regular thing for OH in the Quisno years. Maybe, just maybe a week 11 game would start to get the kids excited about playing football again.
