We can call it The Carroll Affect. It used to think it only worked on players but it has been working on coaches for a number of years as well.

Carroll has said on many occasions that this team will make it to the state semi-finals especially with the transfers from Bay Village Bay. I sure hope it doesnt come down to clock management because Carroll is the worst. Stupka is a yes man and will listen intently to what "God" (carroll) has to say.

The program may have a good season bc of move ins, time will tell. Hard to believe Carroll was in favor of hiring the former head coach with a record or 2-37 to "assist". The program needs new blood in the coaching ranks IMO.

Being around Marion county since the 60’s I know one thing. Pleasant will be dead last in the league for years to come. Not a lot of discipline in the program these days. My grandson is an outgoing senior this year and the things I have heard going on with that program seem to be more like a group of Dads coaching travel sports. Seems a far cry from the previous regimes. A lot seems to be going on in that school district the last few years.

So heard on good authority that Pleasant has 3 varsity starters and 2 of the best 8th grade players transfer out to other schools in the last month. Also heard the soon to be 8th grade won’t have enough players to field a team.

The "varsity starters who transferred" will not be able to play the last half of the season in any sport they played this past year.

A "move" is one of the types of "transfer" as is Opening Enrollment. Should be more specific. Even then a family must prove the "move" was for a reason other than just sports, before the OHSAA approves playing. Of course a threat of a lawsuit by parents scares the shat out of the OHSAA. If these families have moved maybe it was to get away from abuse or seeking better educational opportunities.

Moving out of the Pleasant school district to other Marion area schools??? Times sure have changed.

Only if they open enroll. I could be wrong though. You are correct based on past OHSAA rulings. Now if they moved from Pleasant to Harding it may be in question. But if they moved(changed residence) from Pleasant to another county they will probably be allowed to play a full season.

Not sure if the families moved or simply just open enrolled somewhere else, but I have heard it’s done and they are gone. Times are different for sure. I have heard that kids are allowed to come and go throughout the season as they want. Coach is a pushover and allows whatever. Seems that some kids see it and are jumping ship. Unfortunate, but reality now a days.

ALSO if they "move", the entire family must move including brothers and sisters who don't want to leave Pleasant. They must also "move" and then open enroll back to Pleasant

Sounds to me like Pleasant football will continue to decline.
Here is a useless thought. Perhaps the N10 and MOAC make a school trade. The MAOC sends Pleasant to the N10 in return for Upper Sandusky to the MOAC. Size and geography wise it makes perfect sense.
I'm certain Pleasant would be like "Heck yeah!" and Upper would be like "Eff no!" So, this will never happen. Again, just a useless thought.

Looking at a map, I'm not sure it would even make sense for Upper, geographically. While Pleasant to N10 and Upper to MOAC may be a useless thought, it certainly is not a new thought on this forum. You're spot on with your last paragraph though!

I don’t think it matters at this point what league they are in. When the coach allows kids to skip weeks at a time and then start games when they get back there are bigger issues. I actually watched him sitting on the bench during a practice this year when I went to pick up my grandson… oh and practice was still going on. Watched for a good 30 minutes. Couldn’t believe it. Oh well, we are done now as my grandson graduates. Wish the program success but sure sounds like it will be interesting to say the least.

In that trade, Upper goes from being the big fish in the little pond in the N-10 to only bigger than Galion in the MOAC.

I’m kind of surprised Pleasant didn’t explore that option when they applied to the N10. The drive to East Knox would be tough, though.

To me it isn’t about being in a different league. To me it’s about the fact that they have lost so many Pleasant people. What I mean is there has been so many teachers and coaches who have left that place in the last 3 years. The leadership at the administrative level has destroyed the place. You can’t tell me that all of the sudden the talent is just so bad. I know my grandson started as a sophomore for the football team alongside 4 of his classmates. All on defense and they were 9-3 and played in the regional semifinals. Those same five kids started this year on defense and we could not stop JV teams. Until the board realizes the leadership is poor they will continue to see kids leave, teachers leave, and coaches leave. Unfortunately I think the damage is done. I don’t see this tail spin stopping anytime soon. Amazing how fast it takes for something to fall. We will see how this year goes with all of the fall sports.

Also heard the High School principal did not get the years the other administrators got in the last board meeting. Guess the rumor is the board wants him gone. Lost a lot of teachers and coaches in that building the last two years. I heard that they wanted him gone but then Adams resigned and they did not want to replace both. Interesting out there.

All wishful thinking and some interesting ideas. Upper is probably just fine where they are. So what are people’s early predictions for how the league will unfold? Clear Fork looks like the team to beat at this point. Shelby is the champion until beaten but they lost over 20 seniors. River Valley, Harding, and Galion are probably behind that. Not sure what to make of Highland. Ontario and Pleasant are probably at the bottom.
