Missing the forest for the trees in my example.
For ANY league opponent out there in any setting, you are going to benefit greater for 2nd level harbins by beating a team like Galion who goes 3-0 in non-con play against two D6s and a D4 versus a school that goes 2-1 and has wins against two D1s. This discounts the direct effect on the school playing said schools in a 1st level harbin basis.
This winds up making the MOAC very good for helping teams get to playoffs (not necessarily for getting them ready for playoffs). MOAC schools in non-con have scheduled down for W's in a fairly consistent way that provides a great boost for harbin farming.

I get your point. It will be interesting to see if the OHSAA goes to 12 teams per region in the near future or they stay with 16. Right now it is really easy to get into the playoffs, regardless of the conference a team is in.

Too much money to be had for oh$AA and they can hang their hat on a couple 16/1, 15-2 upsets last year for keeping the 16 team playoff.

Right now it is really easy to get into the playoffs, regardless of the conference a team is in. It is quite easy anymore, but an extra home game of gate receipts for being an #8 seed is a win in itself. And for that, I thank Galion for setting themselves up for 3-0 in non league.

It would be a more lively experience for many schools to try to get an extra win if it were 12 teams, but I'm under the impression most coaches really don't care for a bye week if they could instead get the JVs some reps in a blowout. I think coaches voted to keep things at 8 when they were asked, I'm not sure if 12 or 16 were options. Yeah, a chance injury can be awful for a top team's hopes (Shelby ran into that in 2017), but that's football and something you can be on either side of, for better or for worse.

Awesome. Only issue is most 16 seeds suck! Chargers not the typical 16 I disagree. It was Bellevue's job to make mediocre at best Edison suck I think it is safe to say that edison is better then most 16 seeds. While bellevue should have beaten them, edison was playing it's best ball and lost a very good game to them in the regular season.

I think Galion defense will be decent this year, just because of their size. Offensive line will be good. Stayed for half of the scrimmage against Lex.

They have some size. Couple kids look 6-4+.
They didn’t move the ball the couple of offensive series I watched. Their defense was okay

Sounds like a good assessment of yesterday’s scrimmage. Galion split time between 2 quarterbacks, the one who played most of the season and is a junior, and the sophomore who started the playoff game at Clyde. The defense looked decent, Lex scored once on them. Galion didn’t score. The starting running back was injured on defense, had his back iced. Hopefully nothing serious. All and all, Galion looked okay. Will know more Friday night when they face Tiffin Columbian.

Can confirm. No clue why. But the Facebook page says for a lack of administration support, he was forced to. Tough break, thought he had the program going in a good direction. He wasn’t a traditional coach, a teacher, or any of that. But they played well for him. Sucks to see for the kids, just before the start of the season.

After talking to a few people, this is what I gathered. Dating back to when he first took over, the assistants have been running the show, so this shouldn’t mess with the team too bad. The DC took over. From day one Ross was missing practices, didn’t attend the Bluffton camp last month, on and on. That’s going to get you fired.
I for one didn’t know any of that was going on. Guess he even missed the senior dinner last year, it’s been an ongoing thing.
