It’s great to be back! A few housekeeping items before we get started. As most of you are aware we recently suffered an early retirement by Bellevue Buckeye, aka Quad county confluence, aka BELL, aka the TROUT hoarder. I would like to take a second and thank him for being a quality member of the best fantasy league I have taken apart in! Thank you and good luck in retirement!

As such, we have replacement owner in TEAM ISPEREL. He will be taking over BELL’s team in full. Please welcome him into the league by bombarding him with Trout offers!

Rule Changes:

The Saves category has been changed to “Saves + Holds”

Added one “MI”(middle infield) starting spot

Minor roster management:

All minor players will be rostered alongside each team’s active players. Each owner has complete control over roster transactions (no commissioner involvement). Additionally, the specified 15 ACTIVE keeper and 15 MINOR keepers is removed and replaced with 30 TOTAL keepers, regardless of roster designation(active vs. minor), to be determined at each owners discretion. Ex: Owner 1 keeps 25 active players & 5 minors’ players; owner 2 keeps 10 active players and 20 minor’s players. This would maintain the 10 round active draft prior each new season and does not affect the FYPD.

Schedule:

With the delayed MLB season we will switch to a 19 week schedule. This is specifically to avoid the very last week of the MLB season being used for the league championship matchup. Therefore, we will maintain 3 in-division matchups; Out of division matchups will be to face every team at least once, and 2 teams twice. FYI – the schedule will not be complete at the time of this announcement, for those that know, it can be challenging.



Keepers

Keeper deadline is 3/24/2022. Go to “TEAM” >”KEEPER ADMIN” to select your 30 total keepers.



Active Draft

Draft is set to begin 3/27/2022 @ 12pm ET. This will be a slow draft with a slight change to our previous years. The pick timer will be 4 HOURS. However, we will put the draft to “sleep” at 12am ET until 8am ET every day until it is complete. The sleep function allows us the ability to keep moving without having an inordinate amount of time for picks. I even think picks can be made while the draft is asleep.



Draft Lottery

Lottery odds were calculated based off last year final standings. It will continue to be 2 separate lotteries for playoff teams and non-playoff teams. Lottery will be drawn and posted on 3/17.

Transactions:

Rosters are locked until keepers are selected and executed. At that point trading of player & picks will be open. FA additions are locked until after the completion of the draft.



League Dues

$50 Fee due ASAP. There is a $10 fee per team for premium features we do use. We as a league need to decide if this is something we are interested in utilizing going forward or not. The deadline for that decision is 4/28. I will detail those features in another communication.

Odds and ends:

Fantrax rolled out a new app since last season. It appears to work much better than the previous web based applet. The draft room actually works well on it too. I recommend updating to that if you have not already.

Secondly, I have taken the liberty of starting a Discord server for the league. Discord is a free messaging board type app and is also available in desktop form. One of the biggest advantages imho is the ease of use on the phone. I find it far superior to navigate and post vs. the NCOAST board. 50% of the league is on there and look forward to the rest joining. If simply for the fantastic integrated GIF roasting.

Sithbucknut77’s 2022 Prediction Column



Welcome back to everyone! It’s that time of year for the best fantasy baseball league around. Apologies for the lateness of this year’s predictions, as they say, Poop happens. Rest assured the accuracy of this year’s predictions will not be effected by my tardiness, they will be effected by managing. For the new guy(what do we call him anyway? Isperel is awful long) and a refresher for us old timers, I poured each team into my database of past owner performance and run countless simulations to derive the final standings. But before we get to those results, a brief summary of each squad. And remember, Sith’s predictions, 50% of the time it’s right 100% of the time.



BROW

Brow looks to be making that quick turnaround after a poor showing in 2021. He has made some strong moves to build back in the counting stats but ratios may be a struggle. This may be the 1st time in a few seasons that BROW doesn’t own the oldest squad, a bit of a surprise. Regardless of the improvement, there doesn’t appear to be a whole of help on the horizon. A push near .500 would should be considered a success.

CEO

Oh how the mighty have fallen. I could be mistaken as many of my historical records were lost in the great laptop debacle of 2022, but last year might have been the only time CEO has missed the playoffs. He went all-in on a complete rebuild trading away nearly anything not named Ohtani. Will the rebuild be successful in its 1st year? Can he make it back to 500? It’s possible but not likely per my model. He will need the bevy of young prospects to meet expectations or an OG Pronk performance could be possible.

ISPEREL

PRONK 3.0 has taken over the former Quad County Confluence team, and unlike PRONK 2.0, it looks like fell into a much better situation. With a handful of top 10 at their position players like Trout, Burnes, Hader, and some nice high prospects like Witt/Grod, he is positioned well to make some noise in his 1st season. I think the turning point will be at the trade deadline, will he be close enough to contend or will Trout season finally be open.

SITH

After making a hard push for the postseason, SITH fell way short in the playoffs. And the effects of those transactions will hurt for some time. The historically poor pitching staff has been reshaped into something that should be viable but has come at the expense of what usually is a top 4 offense. There are some serious question marks around this roster and its ability to compete week in and week out.

SOX

I think we can officially remove the “New Pronk” moniker for SOX. He has demonstrated a far superior acumen in acquiring players than we anticipated. Two words… Adam Wainwright. While it has been a tough rebuild, the pitching staff has taken the greatest of steps to be competitive. While the hitting is lagging the potential is there. And fair warning to anyone that pokes this bear, he is reasonably ok at trash talk.

REDS

Last year’s runner up is once again primed to make a run at the division. I’m not sure how many teams will compete in the hitting categories with REDS and he looks to be damn near stellar in with pitching ratios. That spells success more likely than not. The question is can he close it out this year.

DRT

It’s a good thing DRT didn’t become the 1st team to secede control to the league for late entry fee payment because he primed for big run this season. Last season DRT was flirting with making the playoffs like a couple of high school freshman, but did not make a midseason push, which I believe was the right thing to do. The moves made and not made have left him potentially top 3rd in the league of most categories. The of top end superstars is just sick.

TESL

The defending champ… Is he a one hit wonder or set up for continued success? If you strictly look at the pitching side you would say he will be tough to beat. The amount of quality arms TESL has to throw out there every week has no match within the league. Quite frankly it is disgusting. It’s so good he can ride a middle of pack offense to another championship this season if he makes the right decisions.

STRO

STRO is another strong contender from the superior WORLD division. He will possibly finish top 3 or 4 in most categories making him a tough matchup with whomever the matchup is. He still pushes the boundaries of how many shortstop’s to roster but it continues to work. Teams are going to hate facing STRO once Tatis comes back…unless you want to trade the new Mr. Glass?...maybe?...

TIG

It sounds like TIG does not think too highly of his squad. I can’t decide if he playing reverse psychology games with us or he truly think his team blows. My analysis has much closer to 500 and competing than several other squads. The areas where TIG really shines are the offensive counting stats and pitching ratios. These are good enough to be competitive every single week. One or two breaks or the right trade could have him pushing for a playoff spot.



As mentioned above, the WORLD division looks to be the much stronger division with what I classify as 3 elite teams. The OHIO division needs them to beat up on each other if two teams from OHIO are to make the playoffs.
