Very early computer rankings. I know in my rankings I use a portion of last years rankings this early in the season because 3 games isn't a lot to go on.
| Vogel | Sagarin | Massey | 1 | Georgia | Alabama | Georgia | 2 | Alabama | Georgia | Alabama | 3 | Ohio State | Ohio State | Ohio State | 4 | Michigan | Oklahoma | Penn State | 5 | Penn State | Michigan | Michigan | 6 | Oklahoma State | Penn State | Oklahoma | 7 | Oklahoma | USC | Iowa State | 8 | Ole Miss | Texas | Oklahoma State | 9 | Clemson | Ole Miss | Tennessee | 10 | Iowa State | Utah | Clemson |
Meanwhile the AP has Penn State at #14. PSU already has 2 impressive ROAD wins vs Purdue and Auburn but the media is indifferent to the 41-12 thrashing of Auburn. If Penn State were an SEC team I think the media would have them ranked #3 right now because the media has Kentucky #8 and Arkansas #10.

I'm not sure anyone values Auburn and Purdue that highly. Just my 2 Penn State ain’t no top 5. I give them around 10-12. They still need a quality win, because Perdue and an Auburn team having serious problems doesn’t make me believe their a top 5 program at the week 4 mark.

James Franklin has Penn State in a place of prominence. Where they fit in the scheme of things is yet to be determined. To be an Auburn fan, is experiencing the highest of highs (the miracle play to beat Bama) to the lowest of lows that is today's Auburn. The Northwestern of the SEC.

September 26 AP Poll and Computer Ratings
| AP Poll | Vogel | Sagarin | Massey | ESPN FPI | Avg of 46 Comp Ratings | 1 | Georgia | Georgia | Alabama | Alabama | Alabama | Georgia | 2 | Alabama | Alabama | Ohio State | Georgia | Ohio State | Alabama | 3 | Ohio State | Ohio State | Georgia | Ohio State | Georgia | Ohio State | 4 | Michigan | Penn State | Oklahoma | Michigan | Michigan | Penn State | 5 | Clemson | Michigan | Michigan | Penn State | Clemson | Clemson | 6 | USC | Clemson | Utah | Minnesota | Texas | Michigan | 7 | Kentucky | Ole Miss | USC | Clemson | LSU | Tennessee | 8 | Tennessee | USC | LSU | Tennessee | Oklahoma | USC | 9 | Oklahoma State | Tennessee | Penn State | Oklahoma State | USC | Ole Miss | 10 | NC State | Oklahoma State | Minnesota | Oklahoma | Utah | Minnesota |
Computers pretty much all agree on the Top 3, just in different orders There are five Top 25 vs Top 25 AP Poll matchups this week NC State at Clemson Kentucky at Ole Miss Alabama at Arkansas Oklahoma State at Baylor Wake Forest at Florida State then we have some more solid matchups with Michigan at Iowa Oklahoma at TCU Texas Tech at Kansas State Purdue at Minnesota Oregon State at Utah Texas A&M at Mississippi State Washington at UCLA - Friday Night game Should be a fun weekend with the possibility of a lot of Top 25 teams losing I'm intrigued with James Madison who just bumped up to the FBS this year and is 3-0 right now. James Madison went (12-2) last year in the FCS losing in the FCS Semi-Final to North Dakota State W - 44-7 over 3-1 Middle Tenn (MTSU already beat Miami, FL) W - 32-28 over 2-2 App State (App St already beat Texas A&M) James Madison still has to play Georgia Southern (who beat Nebraska) Marshall (who beat Notre Dame) Louisville Coastal Carolina (who is 4-0 & went 11-2 last year)

As of October 3, 2022 | AP | Vogel | Sagarin | Massey | ESPN FPI | Avg of 53 Computers | 1 | Alabama | Alabama | Alabama | Alabama | Alabama | Alabama | 2 | Georgia | Ohio State | Ohio State | Georgia | Ohio State | Georgia | 3 | Ohio State | Georgia | Georgia | Ohio State | Georgia | Ohio State | 4 | Michigan | Ole Miss | Utah | Michigan | Michigan | Clemson | 5 | Clemson | Michigan | Michigan | Penn State | Clemson | Michigan | 6 | USC | Clemson | Clemson | Oklahoma State | Texas | Ole Miss | 7 | Oklahoma State | Penn State | Texas | Clemson | Utah | Penn State | 8 | Tennessee | TCU | Oklahoma State | Ole Miss | LSU | Tennessee | 9 | Ole Miss | Tennessee | USC | Tennessee | Ole Miss | TCU | 10 | Penn State | Oklahoma State | Oklahoma | TCU | Tennessee | Mississippi State |
Computer average #11 USC #12 Oklahoma State #20 Texas #34 James Madison - looking good Some matchups I'm looking forward to this weekend Big Ten(3-2) Purdue at (4-1) Maryland - (Can the Terps get to 5-1) (3-2) Iowa at (4-1) Illinois - (Can Illinois get to 5-1) ACC(4-1) Florida State at (4-1) NC State Big XII(4-0) TCU vs (5-0) Kansas (4-1) K-State at (3-2) Iowa State (3-2) Texas Tech at (4-0) Oklahoma State (3-2) Texas vs (3-2) Oklahoma - (Who is falling to 3-3) Pac 12(4-1) Utah at (5-0) UCLA (4-1) Washington State at (5-0) USC SEC(3-2) Auburn at (5-0) Georgia (4-0) Tennessee at (4-1) LSU (3-2) Texas A&M at (5-0) Alabama (3-2) Arkansas at (4-1) Mississippi State Independents(4-1) BYU vs (2-2) Notre Dame - Game in Las Vegas Mississippi State normally plays a very weak schedule, goes 8-4 and get trounced in all 4 losses. This year they have a pretty tough schedule W vs (4-1) Memphis W vs (3-2) Arizona L vs (4-1) LSU W vs (2-3) BGSU W vs (3-2) Texas A&M Remaining (3-2) Arkansas at (4-1) Kentucky at (5-0) Alabama vs (3-2) Auburn vs (5-0) Georgia vs (2-3) East Tenn State at (5-0) Ole Miss BGSU and East Tenn St were the only 2 automatic wins this year. They played Memphis and Arizona in non-Conf instead of Wagner and Ark St. They cross over with Georgia instead of Vandy. Very Tough schedule.
