Are we surprised that Ontario beat Crestview last night? Not surprised. Hard to win in the house that Joe built, even when they aren’t a traditional Ontario powerhouse.

The young Ontario team plays with much more confidence at home.

Are we surprised that Ontario beat Crestview last night? Crestview beating Madison was a surprise, but I didn't think this game was. Ontario has the talent to have won 14-15 game this year. Although averages may not show it, they have 5 or 6 guys capable of scoring big on any given night. They have size and athletes who can defend a variety of players. They have the skill to play fast or in the half court. They may not have a strong power player inside but most teams do not these days so they match most of their opponents.

Ontario has a young team that does not have the talent to beat Harding, Shelby, RV, nor obviously anyone from the all powerful OCC. They've won every game they should have won and have not upset anyone. When they get down big early they don't have the maturity to come back. What are "averages"??

Last I saw the Ontario team has multiple players with multiple years of varsity experience. You continue to call them a young team but they are experienced. Both Weaver boys have played varsity since being in 10th grade and Braxton Hall was a starter last season. That is 3 returning starters. Brady Zehe and Grayson Purvis both played in all the games I watched last season.

No "multiple multiple" There are 3 Seniors,2 start and the 3rd is the 9th player in minutes played. The elder Weaver came off the bench as a Soph and missed last year with a broken arm. Hall and the younger Weaver were the only returning players with significant minutes from last year. Normally Hall would have come off the bench and the younger Weaver would've been a JV player last year. But last year was not normal in talent or experience. Zehe and Purvis got most of their minutes last year on JV. Zehe became a fulltime varsity player about midseason. If you have last year's program you will see they were listed on the JV roster.
Young, because of only 2 seniors of significance, very unusual for Ontario. AND their starting PG is a Freshman. First time in 40 years.
Next year they should have 6 seniors, 3 returning starters and 6 lettermen. A significant difference. BUT no Benji, Morris, Maloney, Shoemaker, Smiths, or Dorsey.

In other news- Lucas last to Willard by 3. It was a really good game. Colonel Crawford beat Wynford 57-45. They'll probably be the #1 seed with Lucas #2.

Looking ahead to the tournament drawings and I wouldn’t be surprised if all of the FC are knocked out before Districts.

I'll predict Western (Buchanan can contain Stokes) and South Central will win games (good coaching for both). Ashland Crestview will beat Genoa. Genoa has a good record but only 1 quality win, over Old Fort. Monroeville will win 2 and get to districts.
FC isn't good, but they will get some wins.

They’ve now lost 7 in a row and have taken some beatings along the way. WR is the hottest team in the FC right now.

Just incase anyone's mind wasn't made up on who is the best coach in the area...Western Reserve finished 13-7 this year. I think most thought best case scenario was 6 or 7 wins considering what they had returning.

The knowledgeable have known for MANY years that he's one of the best. NOT a recent "trending up".
