Delete if already a thread, I didn't see it. Marion Harding named their next coach, Charles Williamson.
Coach Williamson was most recently the head coach at Washington High School in Washington Court House, Ohio, where he was head coach for seven years. At Washington, Coach Williamson had a 42-27 record, including playoff appearances the past three seasons. The Blue Lions were 9-3 in 2022, and advanced to the second round of the OHSAA playoffs.
Coach Williamson also coached at Central Crossing High School in Grove City, and Westland High School in Galloway.

Looks like Pleasant is in search of a new coach. Would love for a few guys I have in mind to apply but don't know if they will.

Did Coach Kline choose to move on or did the Pleasant AD make the decision to change coaches?

AD was not involved. Pleasant Superintendent and the Dean of Curriculum wanted Coach Kline to fire an assistant coach (not a teacher) for posting a couple of tame curse words on a social media page used to communicate to the team. Nothing the kids don't hear everyday. Kline refused. They also asked him to refrain from going out to dinner with players parents (he just moved here from 2 hours away, those are about the only people he knows). He said he would do that and yet 2 months later they fired him (and the other coach) anyway. Pleasant has some big problems at the top and they are going to lose some of there best up and coming players because of it.

Pleasant has hired former Harding assistant coach CJ Westler to lead the program. I really hope he can get a staff assembled and the team together in this short time period. Fortunately, last year's team was all Juniors and Sophomores so he does have a lot of returning talent.

Westler is a great guy and played some college ball out of Harding, I think he was one of their best QBs ever. He ran the offense for a few years and then went to be a QB coach at Otterbein or OWU, I can’t recall. Sounds like he’s walking into a mess at Pleasant. So hopefully they give him enough time. He’s been around plenty of football at all levels. Great football mind.

I’m not sure how the new coach will do at Clear Fork. However I have heard time and time again from people of the valley that the old coach was a Cancer to CF football. Now I don’t personally know the guy but I have talked to former players and parents that said he should have went way before this.

The truth is probably somewhere in between. He sounds old school and do they make some bad decisions? Yep. Do they get a lot out of the kids and make them tough when the kids buy in? Yep. Do they win? Yep. Do they run some kids off and **** off some parents? Yep. It will be fun to see how much of Clear Fork’s success it the coach and how much is tradition. The next couple of years will clear that up.

Another hot take from one of the most clueless posters I’ve read on this board! Ok Mr. All Block So being a new poster means I cannot read that you seem to think you are the all knowing yet know very little? Or you just post a lot of hot takes and if one comes back true you can point at the one instance you were right and say “Ah-ha look at that I told everyone that was going to happen!” But in the mean time be wrong about everything else. As far as this most recent I myself have been hard pressed to find parents or athletes that have a bad word to say about Coach Carrol, besides him being a little too hard nose.

You really think they are just going to let go a guy that has been winning most years? I have heard from former players that he chooses favorites and treats the rest like crap. I have heard that he has lost many of his assistant coaches due to how he treated them. Listen this is just stuff that I have been told from people that have been around the program when he was running it. Maybe everyone is lying to me who knows. Really doesn’t matter at this point because he is no longer with the program.

I have spoken with many who would give you a "bad word" about the previous coach. If you have talked with players or parents over the last 10 years you would have known this. Even the parents and players that supported/support him will tell you there are many who do not. Every coach will have some, while others have more. This previous coach had plenty, but he also had a couple influential supporters who kept him in his position.

It is pretty interesting though when you look back at the last 5 years. Good luck to the next coach to try and keep pace with what the old coach did. The last 5 years.. 22- 10-2 Playoffs 21- 6-5 Playoffs 20- 4-6 (I think everyone gets a small pass for the 2020 season) 19- 6-4 18- 12-1 Playoffs I think most schools would take that.

Again, is he as bad as some say? Probably not. Are more people complaining because he’s coaching 2023 kids/parents the same way he coached kids ten or fifteen years ago? Likely.
My high school coach did some things that would get him fired today immediately. No hearing. No arbitration. Using a kids face mask to help him onto his belly so he can do some pushups as a reminder not to talk during the team huddle after practice was a little much. I ran grass drills after every practice until school started for missing one two-a-day to show my market steer at the fair. He shouldn’t have done those things. It didn’t cause anyone any permanent harm, though. We were all a little tougher for it and have some great stories to tell as adults. And we won a lot of games including a lot of playoff games when making the playoffs wasn’t a participation ribbon.

So sad. I think parents are similar now to what they have always been. The change that I see is the soft administration and directors that are afraid to tell parents to sit down and be quiet. I've seen an AD kick parents out for screaming at coaches and refs. I've seen principals and supers and board members remove fans, suspend fans or limit their access. All in the past. Today the coaches are told to make a change or refs are told to deal with it. Good coaches and refs are very limited. The new Colt coach is a good man, but in the past their is very little chance we would have hired a guy who was 3-17 as a head coach to lead the valley in football.

Every coach since 1970 has had success in the valley compared to many area school during that time. We have a football tradition that is supported by generations and the kids enjoy taking part in that. Since joining the MOAC the previous coach was 49-19 in six seasons with 5 trips to the playoffs. If this is our measuring platform then no, I do not think the new coach will be successful in the valley.

Some of my former coaches would: - scream so hard/loud he vomited blood - put his hat on backwards and actually hit/tackle players - put pads on and practice with the team - throw clipboards/podiums at people - bum chew off the players - gamble on the bus with players - grab your facemask & yank on it so hard you thought your neck would snap - if you came out complaining of a headache he'd jam some smelling salts up your nose, tell you to quit being a p*ssy & push you back onto the field while saying "get back in there"
