The Guardians first spring training game is this Saturday. Baseball is right around the corner! The Guardians have the best odds according to Vegas to win the AL Central at +135 followed by the White Sox at +195 and Twins at +280. Lets see if this young team can build off the successful season last year and repeat as Central champs and hopefully make some noise in the playoffs.

If last years team won it with a young squad plus the addition of Josh Bell for this year, I have no reason to believe this team won’t win it again.

How do we feel about the new pitch clock rules? I was watching the first few innings of the Guardian's spring training game on Saturday and I'm not a big fan of it so far but I'm sure ill adjust to it just like the players and coaches will. Through 3 games of spring training, the average gameplay has been 2 hours and 34 minutes. So, the new rule is shaving off about 30 minutes of game time. Is making the game 30 minutes shorter really going to bring in fans who don't watch/like baseball? I doubt it.

IF you buy a ticket, you get less for your buck. The concessioners and the media will not like it, less time for selling wares/food and commercials. Which also means less money for owners. A bigger problem for small market teams. BTW, who is whining about the length of games??
Are they using larger bags this spring?

I'm going to sound like my grandpa when I say this, but the younger generation can't focus on anything for longer than about 10 seconds, so that's why there's this attempt to speed things up. As a kid I always hoped for extra innings so I could get as much bang for my buck as possible. And I still don't understand the bigger bases change. Oh well, go Indians!

I love baseball, but unlike NFL and NBA, I can’t sit down and watch an entire MLB game unless it’s the postseason or I’m at the game.

Starting Pitcher Tristan Mckenzie is out for at least two weeks. He will be reevaluated then and could be out up to 8 weeks with a right teres strain. Not a good start to the season. Pitching depth will be tested early on.

Pitching depth will be tested early on. They have several good young starters waiting their turn in their system. A chance for one of them to grab the gold ring. Early in the year, 4 starters can handle a rotation with an occasional "bullpen" game. One of the reasons the Guards had a good season last year was due to very few injuries. It is said those things even out. |

Players don't get paid much for being good at "small ball". Small ball could only get the Guardians through the first round of the playoffs. The big money is paid to those who can hit 30+ home runs. 30 homer guys don't know how to bunt. They want them to hit 2 or 3 run home runs. You've heard the saying that made Earl Weaver famous and the success of the great years of the Orioles right? You're so sweaty and small, you fail to realize these rule changes favor the "small ball" Guardians |

The Guardians starting pitching takes another hit. Civale has been sent to the 15-day IL with an oblique strain and Tristan Mckenzie has now been sent to the 60-day IL (the quickest he could return is May 29th). Payton Battenfield has been called up to join the starting rotation. The rotation which was a strength coming in is now arguably bottom 5 in the league with the rotation now being Bieber, Quantrill, Plesac, Gaddis, and Battenfield. Hopefully, this means we see some of the top pitching prospects sooner in Bibee, Williams, or Logan Allen. Good news is its April but not a good start to the year for the pitching staff.

I decided to bet $1.00 on the moneyline for all Guardians games.I will try to not miss any and keep track just for fun. Thru 10 games I'm up $1.95. Ha

This is a painful team to watch. One inning wonders all year thus far. Lots of pressure on pitching staff because they realize the team cannot score at all. If can't beat motor city kitties and chump teams like that, it could be a really.long year

Cleveland relies on concessions for much of their income (beer) and those in the cheap $15 district tickets are there to party and socialize and most couldn't tell you the score. Take a half- hour away from beer and concession sales hurts the little guy plus ownership. Plus, IMO, helps pitchrrs and penalizes batters. Don't like it all all. |

This cleveland team just got shutout by a lefty with a 12.5 era and a team that had won just 6 games prior to tonight. Wow. Dodgers won 111 last year, but went 1-5 against lowly Pirates, including being swept at Chavez Ravine. It's MLB; many times things don't make sense |

Zunino and his .179 average has been a great addition to this team. There has to be a catcher in their farm system who can give them at least a little more then that.

Eh I’m not too worried. Slow start last year plus the central is beyond garbage. It’s only a matter of time for the Guards to stop playing with their food in the central and start taking lead.
