Here's my take (because you know I'm gonna have one ..LOL), my son didn't have a good passing game...at all. Hell! We only scored 3 points. Chase doesn't look comfortable running the offense. I don't know if the injury still is weighing on his mind. He doesn't look comfortable. Chase is drop-back passer. I know coaches come in and want to implement their own offense. Chase would excel in the Fairbanks offense. He would put up tremendous yardage. Drop-back have a receiver go out 8-10 yards and hook back around. Easy pitch and catch. I know Chase can throw a good deep ball and out patterns. He has the arm to get it there. But we roll him out and throw on the run, it cuts the field in half for his big arm. He's not a roll-out qb. I just don't get it. He went deep once against North Union, and it was an touchdown pass late in the game that was dropped. Why we never went deep in the game? No Clue! Our offensive line doesn't protect that well. But well enough most of the time, they have gotten better as the season went on. Also, why we didn't at least try to implement the throws Fairbank was so successful against North Union two weeks prior. I watched that game on HUDL. Every....I mean EVERY 15-20 yard slant in was open. Hell! He threw 3 touchdowns using it. North Union have small corners. Fairbanks ate them up. The Fairbanks QB missed like 3-4 of them them too in the game that were probably touchdowns too. We come in our game, and we try I think one. We didn't really try to throw down the field much at all on them.
What kills our team is our defense! We can not tackle at all. I don't know the reason for it either. This is one of the worse tackling teams that I've ever see, and I'm going back to our Crestline teams. North Union scored on us every time they got the football except until like 3 minutes left in the game when they had their 2nd team in. We had them on 3rd and 12 at one point in the game, and they ran up the middle and got 15 yard on us. That kills your team. Running our opening kickoff back to the 50 yard line and fumbling the ball last night was a crusher too.
I'll agree with one poster. We don't have an attitude at all. I saw a bit last week, but that was the first time. Our whole team AND all of our coaches are way too laid-back for my comfort. I like to see yelling and showing emotion on my football team. We really lack that on our team. They just go through the motion. They are just "participating". That's not a formula for a winning team. ...this is just my opinion..so hold your calls to me. LOL

Ok, so if we can summ up the past few posts, everything about our program is broken. Glad were all on the same page Also, about Hawkins, yeah probably right but I can't help but think that he knew he would be at the peak of his resume after last season and didnt want to coach this year at Galion and have a 2-8 season as his most recent coaching history. I guarantee he knew and understood that. He went out on top..what 4 straight playoff appearances. He really had a problem with the lack of support for the team and what he wanted for the team from Galion administrators. He also wanted a teaching position with Galion that they never could make happen for him. He was excited about Ontario and their support they showed him once he got over there. I liked Coach Hawkins. I know I probably got on his nerves the first part of the season. But he really took care of my son and believes in him. I respect that guy.

LOL See, I don't agree that the main problem can be laid at the feet of the defense. If that was the case, then we would be losing to North Union 41-28 instead of 41-3. Maybe 56-42 in a shootout with buckeye valley instead of 56-3. etc, etc, etc. Our defense is allowing a lot of points, but our offense isn't scoring enough either. You were right in your other post saying that the lone bright spot of our team is our kicking. (Chase does a pretty good job punting as well).

True....on the offense. We do move the ball though, we just can't score. My thing with the defense is at least give our offense a chance...stop them sometimes. You can't let them score every single time they touch the ball. North Union ate up a lot of clock. What did they have...one big run?

To make money from parents who want to live vicariously through their kids. Just kidding. But seriously our "track stars" need to learn to catch the ball when we are on offense, not just on defense. Also can i just say, why is almost every pass we throw to a receiver who is behind the line of scrimmage? It makes passing yardage look better for the quarterback to have the receiver run so far after the catch but in reality a few of our big gains were throws for-1 yd and runs after the caych of 15-20 yds. You're right about our so called "TRACK STARS"! They need to learn how to catch balls. We need more "WRESTLING STARS" that know how to block with leverage and tackle the legs and waist. Most kids aren’t tuff enough to wrestle. We have 1 offensive lineman that wrestles. And he's starting as sophomore..

Ahh yes finally a comment from a wrestling fanatic trying to play it up as a tougher sport than football. Wrestling people and their agendas to prove. When it comes to tackling anymore most places try to emulate rugby anymore anyways.

I did both. In football the coaches always wanted you to get bigger. After football season I had to lose 20 pounds so I didn't have to wrestle heavyweight, against a guy I could not beat. For me wrestling meant a starvation diet and rinsing your mouth out with water instead of swallowing. Just for fun I swam on a summer swim team. The "fun" part was that it was a coed sport and the coeds weren't wearing much. Other than that there was NO fun involved. The only sport that you used every muscle in your body and when you finished your event there was very little oxygen left in your body. I never wanted any more of that sport, regardless of the "fun" part.
For me, ranked by physically most difficult: 1) Swimming 2) Wrestling 3) Football.

Obviously you didn't wrestle to know how much mental toughness it takes to go out on that mat and believe you can win. Because if you think you're going to lose, You're gonna lose!

Wrestling isn't that important to football anymore. Its a big plus if someone does both, but with the rugby tackling that's being taught now players don't need to know how to double-leg. For example out of the 5 starters on Galion's o-line last year only 1 wrestled.

False. Davis and Throckmorton wrestled through their junior years. Deibig through his sophomore year, and Keller all 4 years. Staiger did not. Actually Davis wrestled, Throckmorton stopped after freshman year, Keller went to like 2 weeks of practice during freshman year and Deibig stopped after middle school. Now I'm not bashing wrestling and I have the utmost respect for anyone who does it because it is a really tough and demanding sport. The point I'm trying to make is that being involved in wrestling isn't a necessity for a good football player.
