To me this is a merging to create a more sustainable company with what they both bring to the table. As someone who has a professional interest in CP, nothing dramatic will change at the point. Same business as usual.

While some finance/admin roles will still be in Sandusky, mergers usually consolidate staff to cut costs. HQ for the merged company will be in Charlotte, NC. Cedar Fair bought the shuttered Firelands Auto Group property on Cleveland Road and are planning to move HR personnel into it. Could be wrong, but to me all of this points to Sandusky losing a significant number of jobs, including several top-level management roles.

All signs were pointing to Cedar Fair moving their corporate offices to Charlotte anyway. If anything, this seems to make even more sense with this merger happening. What has fascinated me is how they have been slowly acquiring as much property along Cleveland Road as possible in the last decade. It appears they will eventually invest in it somehow.

One can only hope! With that new place coming where the old auto plant was will bring some jobs to the city. Sandusky will however always live and die on the economic boom CP brings to them.

I don’t see a scenario where Cedar Point doesn’t remain one of the flagship parks in this company. That being said, I think the Six Flags parks will benefit more from this merger than Cedar Fair ones just due to better management overall in Cedar Fair. I also would not be at all surprised to see some smaller parks spun off.
