Huron (154 boys) and Margaretta (134 boys) Both need week 4 games next season, Yet Margaretta won't play Huron, But would rather travel a great distance for a game,To avoid playing Huron. Many Castalians are unhappy about that decision, Hopefully they won't need any school levies passed over there. They may not get the support they need for being that stupid. I heard some grumbling about that last night at the basketball game in the cafeteria by some Margaretta Fans. Did something change or was yappi wrong? fossywriter8 listed the schedules and Margaretta shows Edon wk 4. I agree that making the drive to Huron beats travelling to Edon next year if it's a home and home contract. It might not be since Margaretta's schedule shows six home games. When Huron and Margaretta are both in Div. 6 for football and meet up in the playoffs one day then Margaretta will have nowhere to run.

Fine, if they and willard want to stay river. fine.. but don't force the bay to play a cross over with the lake. unless you're going to force the river to do a crossover with the bay.

Gibsonburg played Edison game 3 last year and again this year. Not sure their coaches like it but they do it.

I’m starting to think no one wants Huron around no more. Lol Huron is really getting screwed by the SBC. The SBC better be careful or their gonna lose another team and I don't know if SBC can afford to lose anybody else.

The sporting teams recent performance certainly reflects the drop in enrollment. No economy outside of the summer months and the town is becoming an AirBNB haven. Not sure how the enrollment will ever recover. From what I have heard, the younger grades are just getting smaller as well.

Honestly their only option would be River if their enrollment numbers were to drop that low.

The SBC better be careful or their gonna lose another team and I don't know if SBC can afford to lose anybody else. Everyone in the River plays 2 crossovers. The number of varsity livel athletes at Margaretta and Willard is greater than all but Hopewell and 1 or 2 others. Both these schools continue to play River MS schedules and never plan a return to the Bay. These games only provide injuries to already shallow depth charts. Ultimately it will drive more River schools to 8-man. When the Lake schedules 3 games vs the NLL per team per year come back and open negotiations with the River.

I think last year the SBC had 11 teams make the playoffs out of 18 teams. It doesn't seem like the scheduling is broken.

Can you provide an example of what the schedule for that would look like? one cross over between bay - lake one between river and bay. best of both worlds.. I mean an actual schedule. What week do each of these crossovers take place? Which schools play which schools specifically? Who do the schools not involved in the crossovers play when the crossovers are occuring? What weeks do the regular season conference games occur for each team? (Hint: I'm forcing you to think through the actual logistics of this idea, to perhaps help you understand why it doesn't actually happen)

That setup is only for NON football sports (where the River will have 11 schools, not including Willard and Margaretta who play in the Bay for non-football sports) That setup is entirely irrelevant to this discussion about football. That was originally scheduled as a league game against Fremont St. Joe. When they announced they were going to 8 man Calvert had to find a new opponent for that week. Vermilion is not available, they have a game against Sandusky that was scheduled before Calvert's open week became known. Also, if you were to change that week to Calvert/Vermillion then who in the hell is Sandusky supposed to play in week 5? This week 5 matchup is only for one year anyway. Beginning in 2025 the River returns to 8 teams and Northwood will be the school that Calvert plays in whichever week they would have played St. Joe and the only openings they would have available for any non river division games would be weeks 1, 2 and 3. That was originally scheduled as a league game against Fremont St. Joe. When they announced they were going to 8 man Gibsonburg had to find a new opponent for that week. Port Clinton is not available, they have a game against Sandusky that was scheduled before Gibsonburg's open week became known. Also, if you were to change that week to Gibsonburg/Port Clinton then who the hell is Sandusky supposed to play in week 10? This week 10 matchup is only for one year anyway. Beginning in 2025 the river returns to 8 teams and Northwood will be the school that Gibsonburg plays in whichever week they would have played St. Joe and the only opening they would have available for any non river division games would be weeks 1, 2 and 3. That one definitely could have happened, since it lines up with the only week after week 3 when the Lake and Bay schools aren't busy playing each other in either forced crossovers or league games do to the simple math that exists when having two odd numbered divisions. Though Huron/Margaretta could only be a week 4 matchup for one year. Beginning in 2025 the river returns to 8 teams and Northwood will be the school that Margaretta plays in whichever week they would have played St. Joe (week 4), so if Huron would somehow convince Margaretta to play, they'd have do it in either week 1, week 2 or week 3.
