Why? Because he is local? Once Ryan Pedon left (12-8 in the big 10 his last two seasons) and he took over as the top offensive assistant, we've fallen off to 5-15 and 4-10. I don't think there is any reason to say he deserves it.

Hes going to get a chance because Holtman is gone and someone has to run the team till the season is over. Thats all im saying—-if it doesn’t work—-oh well

A name being thrown around a lot that makes a lot of sense is Lamont Paris. He’s from Findlay and played basketball there I believe. Having a great year with South Carolina right now.

The problem with guys like Oats and Musselman is that they are already getting big paydays and have established programs. OSU may be able to match the $5 mil or whatever they are getting paid, but then it's a rebuild.

Well, the team has finished last/second to last each of the last two seasons prior the new coach coming in. You've got a decent sophomore class but you graduate the only person on the team that can shoot the 3. They have no post that can dominate down low or stretch the floor. You really wonder if Thorton and/or Gayle will stay. Jim O'brien turned it around quick with transfers named Scoonie Penn and George Reese. They had a better version of Okpara in Ken Johnson. The biggest difference was a 6' 6" NBA talent, Mr. Michael Redd. I don't see any 6'6" wing in the waiting. But all in all, there wasn't much there when O'brien took over and it got done quick. In this day and age, it's even easier to turn things around fast with the transfer portal, but I just don't think big named, established, high paid SEC coaches are coming here.

I would love to see the local kid get a shot, but don’t hold your breath unless great things happen from now until the end of the season.

And the first half of the Purdue game is impressive. Edey with a little foul trouble and OSU getting it done in the first half up 35-30. I don’t expect a win honestly, but it is fun to see them showing up.

Always nice to see the Bucks take the upset win and never hurts to see the home town kid do good. Considering the timing, he may have justified his name being in the ring… now we’ll see how the rest of the season plays out.

I think this forum knew it, but Jake's definitely the type of guy you want leading a program. May not be OSU yet, but his career is just getting started.

I I hope Jake Diebler gets considered, but if I were betting man right now, I would put my money on Dusty May Florida Atlantic or Sean Miller from X

Article in the Columbus Dispatch today says that Ohio State and Dusty May are in preliminary talks about the opening. Only has a $1 million buyout. OSU could do worse, he's on the rise in national coaching esteem

Sean Miller is the trending pick, Not sure if he and Jake have a relationship or not. From an X’s and O’s perspective,,,,Jake is there. As a CEO of a program,,hes not as experienced maybe as Ohio St prefers. There’s more to being the HC. Public speaking, fundraising etc etc etc—-so perhaps Miller might be the better choice. Either way Jake helped himself and OSU immensely these last 5 games.

Hire Diebler is my opinion. He's got the it' factor I think. People get caught up in needing a "name" coach. With each game I'm seeing what I like out of a coach for this team. My vote is only an opinion though. Each day more and more people are saying the same thing as me.

Diebler knows the BIG TEN, May doesn't. Dustin May recruits 2-3 star athletes and Diebler has experience recruiting 4-5 star guys. Both would be a best guess and not a big name. Give it to the guy in house that the kids are playing for and the current recruits are coming for.

In some ways, the better coaches in the future could be the schools with the best Boosters/Pay to Play programs.
