I'm sure a multitude of things, but as I've said before, there were games before and after JA that they just didn't look very interested in being there. I thought the first half vs. Johnstown looked that way, and then they woke up and played to potential in the second half. The Fairbanks game they were absolutely dominated on the line, and were lucky to get a win. Unfortunately I just didn't see a lot of kids playing with a lot of heart, and I think as the season has gone on, the coaching staff has lost the team. For the Harding game, they were missing several key players for most likely various reasons. Some grades, some for things I think happened at homecoming. All in all, a season to forget on Coover Rd.

I agree with you baseball dad. It looks like a team that doesn't care. I would say not all of them have given up. But some have. But the same can be said about the coaches.

Agreed. I should have added that there are some kids that have and are continuing to play hard every week. It's pretty easy to pick out who they are. On a side note about the coaches, there was one that should have been kicked out of the game Friday night. His conduct toward the officials was embarrassing to me as someone associated with BV.

This is in no way a referendum on your coach, he was my position coach at Cardington. As far as teams quitting on him though, there was a 6-0 Pirate team that did that exact thing when he was the head coach there. I don't want to speculate, but there has to be a disconnect somewhere. I like Matt, but this is now two stops where it appears that a team has quit on him.

Looks like they've given up to me too. I seen kids putting there helmets on the ground and sitting on the bench against Harding. When they still had a chance cause Harding was just running the ball to end the game.

The same reason anyone leaves a school and goes to another school for athletics ..... They couldn't play at the previous school.

I just wasn't impressed with that team when we played them. The Head Coach came over before the game and told my son that he was glad he couldn't play, because a team they played prior had a qb who could throw and run...and they struggled against them. My son got a big kick-out of it. Nice for a coach to say something like that to an injured player. There were so many plays in our game, where we could have easily tackled them behind the line or intercepted a pass...and we did intercept him. They just didn't look that good to me. Now I don't mean they were bad, but I'm mean at like a JA-level or close to them.

Yeah wasn't impressed with em against Harding either. There RB Davies is good. Qb not so much picked off 2 times almost 3. Thought he was better last year actually. Score coulda been worse but Harding ran out clock last few drives. There defense has a couple good spots I'd say.

Harding honestly didnt come to play either honestly until they heard Alder was losing... way to many missed tackles easily lead to their 14 points if we still have a weakness that is one for sure we really need to learn to wrap and drive the person down instead of hand tackling

Not trying to be a smart--- here 4 but when did you see Spaulding play last year? He missed the Harding game as it was after he broke his arm vs Pleasant. I'll agree Ben's stats aren't as good this year as last but I'll attribute it to the line play in front of him. Last years line was exponentially better.

Oops I am wrong then. I thought he played against Harding but then it was the backup, I figured it was him tho since was a senior but didn't know about injury.

Yep, the quarterback who played against Harding last year was Tim Schilling. Tim was the quarterback for his junior season, but moved out of the position for his senior year until Spaulding got hurt. That injury had occurred 2 games before against Pleasant. BV's offense was entirely different after the injury. I'd also say that an additional issue this year would be no Gabe Miller on offense. Gabe had great speed and was a nice weapon for a quarterback to have at his disposal. That's not to say that they don't have some decent speed this season, but I just don't see the separation that Miller and the other receivers were able to get at times last year.

if i am not mistaken davies started in every game for liberty last year and verdes started in 3 to 4 games last year. don't think playing would have been an issue for either of these kids at liberty. Think both of these kids were working out with bv kids and really liked the atmosphere around these kids.
With that being said, i think they have a major issue with the line. One of the biggest in the league but not very good at keeping the other teams out of the backfield.
also think they have players in the wrong positions and have had no adjustments throughout the year. last year they ran a lot of motion and offset plays. this year not sure that they have had any motion at all.

Big does not always mean better as both Pleasant and RV showed BV.
BV felt the Verdes/Santillan combo would equal the Miller/Santillan combo. Miller, on scholarship at Ashland proved a little more difficult to replace than most people thought. Offense has very little faking/misdirection .... Is what it is ..... Making it relatively easy to defend. Changes on the defensive side of the ball have not helped, whether it be coaches or defensive backfield.

miller played on the inside last year which made it easy for spaulding to get him the ball. would have been nice to see verdes, santillan as a true combo to work with davies. placing verdes so far out made tough throws for spaulding so the throwing game became pretty easy to defend. also think some of the kids dont know how to handle some of the criticism from some of the coaches.

Agreed, and further more .... My opinion, for the very little that it's worth, the majority of HS's spread their WR's far too wide ..... Coaching peeps read/hear all this stuff about horizontally and vertically spreading a field, which is all very good in theory and they go and do this and then suddenly realize that Manning (used to) and Brady play on Sunday's and not on Friday nights and not for their teams. Need to make the smartest and best use of what they have, this, in itself, at this age, is a tremendous challenge.

Most quarterbacks in this league doesn't have the arm strength to get the ball out there on out patterns. Our line doesn't give our qb much time for those patters. I always thought even at Crestline..line the WR up closer to the QB. It just made better sense to me. But hell what do I know I'm not a coach.
