The next dime I bet on the Flashes won't be until this current 8th grade team hits the main floor. I watched them play Tiffin Monday, I'm not a big b-ball fan but I was born and raised in Willard and I will say I'm excited to see them hit the main floor!

Seems like just yesterday there were talks about the stability of leagues in the area and some were claiming the NOL was one of them.

For all those Willard fans that said the 2014 Truckers got lucky or didn’t have as much talent as many Flashes team of the 90’s. You know who you are....I wonder as both Jeff T and Ben Haraway bring their college careers to an end finishing with many mamy career top 10’s at both GSU and Ashland still feel the same??? This comes on the heels of Jeff’s 30 point outburst last night in leading GSU to a 62-60 win scoring nearly 1/2 of their points and draining 8 threes. Ben is also off to solid start leading Ashland to a couple wins and they should be one of the top D2 teams in the country...

The team that won State wasn't even there best, If they would have been in D2 instead of D1 the 2 previous years , they may have won D2 State more then 1 year., Plus the one year they lost to Witmer who had ineligible players.

Haraway, Hull, Johnson and Thomas were all better there senior years. The fifth starter then split time with a guy off the bench. the year before with Featheroff, Thomas and Haraway were good but the other guys were still coming along so it would have been a tough road each year. AND, if I remember correctly, in the title year they had an overtime regional game and another game that they won by hitting a shot close to the buzzer to win by 1 point.

Since nobody wanted to take the bait of a long time jilted and disgruntled Upper Sandusky graduate (whose teams couldn't beat Willard) and with a nephew on the Trucker current (or at least the 2014) coaching staff...... A simple WTF covers your typical babble above. What do the COLLEGE careers of 2 pretty fine Norwalk HIGH SCHOOL basketball players have to do with the price of rice? The 2014 Truckers DID get lucky. You act as if that's insulting! Without the luck of a clear and obvious MISSED OFFENSIVE goaltending in the Bath Regional Semi game, the season ends in B.G. Lady luck was with them, and they were able to take advantage. And Hull couldn't make a free throw to save his *** in 1 of those Regional games, 0-4, IIRC? Wasn't it just a wee bit fortunate (i.e. "lucky") that it didn't come back to bite Norwalk? AGAIN, no shame, they made some plays and overcame! Your bias will never allow you to look back on things objectively. Willard had better teams, and dare I say, Bellevue did as well, both on the floor and on the bench. But, since Larry Siegfried and Jon Diebler also each had GREAT college and pro careers, that, of course, makes them better than what they were in high school. Please.

Knite in depth as always... obviously there is almost always a little luck involved in winning a tournament. However I would disagree that somehow it took that and not talent to get them over the hump and win. Back to the point I was making there was no fluke in beating down 2 very good teams at the State tournament I am sure you watched both games... as for Willard I’ll take your lead and ask the question???What Crimson team would have been better than NHS 13 or 14 teams??? and I’ll listen to your always expert opinion...

I don't know of any Crimson team that would have been better than NHS 13 or 14 teams, but I do know a Warrior team that was just as good. The 14 Warriors were co-NOL Champs with NHS and that 14 team wasn't even one of Balogh's best.

Same for the Flashes those two years. We played the 13-14 Truckers pretty close if I recall. The 13-14 Flashes team ranks about #30 best all time if I had to take a wild guess.
It'll be 5 years in March since NHS got the title. Nobody takes them away from any school btw, regardless of the path and the teams that they had to play. That should make you feel a little more secure. But somehow I feel you'll continue the need to make a case instead of just letting it go.
I wish Jeff and Ben nothing but the best. They've represented NHS and the NOL in fine fashion since they've been in college. The same way John Willoughby did at Miami, Tony Augsperger at Walsh, Mike Lillo at Malone, Rex Adams at Malone, Noland Robinson at Dayton, Joel Guth at Toledo, Walter Wilson at Malone, Matt Adams at Heidelburg, Charlie Fry at Akron, Derek Fey at St. Josephs, Nick Dials at Ohio St and Akron, and jimmy Langhurst at Robert Morris.

I find this talk hilarious. Similar to the MJ versus LBJ discussion. If titles determine who is better, then Bill Russell is the GOAT.

Final comment the 05 Upper team was a perfect blend of athletes, seniors and 2 young men that worked their tails off to be D1 b-ball players. Add in a coach who had the nearly perfect roster to play his style of ball and it added up to a jaggernaut that completed a dominant undefeated season that culminated in a D2 state championship...

79-80, 80-81, 81-82, 83-84 All Willard teams better than Norwalk's State Champs. However, Upper State Champs may be the best I've seen.

Go look up the league standings from that year, I dare you. I coughed a little when I read that you coughed a little about your fellow co-champ not being as good as you. I dare you to look up and report the standings from that year on here.
