There are rumors that getting rid of Chief Wahoo could have been a condition in the deal to bring the All-Star Game to Cleveland.
Commissioner Manfred has been been in discussion with the Indians ownership about the logo this offseason, and today all he would comment on that front was that “The conversations are ongoing, and I’m not going to say anymore about the timing” and that he "didn't want to speculate" what the end result would be. I would imagine that if a deal was indeed struck, neither side would publicly admit that the disappearance of the logo by 2019 had anything to with the All-Star Game.

So basically, Major League baseball is black mailing Cleveland over Chief Wahoo for an all star game. They can keep their joke of an all star game, IMO. I have not watched it since Bud Selig ended it in a tie, the 1st time.

They can take it away officially but it will never die on the outside and unofficial apparel.
