They'd have finished around where Madison is. The MOAC is very weak in boys basketball.

So the question is would you rather win or finish 2nd in weak league or finish 3rd or 4th in a good league? Which one would help make you better?

They would have been 6th, which would have been a good year for them in the OCC, being BY FAR the smallest school. THE reason they left the OCC.

I'm not saying it would have been any different but having this season's Colt team in this mix could have been fun. Clear Fork would NOT have thought it "fun". They would have finished below Madison.

After reading the write up about last nights game I still think CF does well in the OCC. The lost a close game to an improving Ontario team. Could you imagine the Warrior team without the move-ins, transfers or open enrolled players? Clear Fork was without a starter and had another kid playing injured. They lost to OCC champ Lexington by 10 at Lex in the first game of the year. Lost at Madison by 4. Are the same team who beat Mansfield last year. Their style of play matches with Wooster and Mt Vernon. BUT, I could be wrong. If you feel Clear Fork would have been blown out in the OCC this season then Ontario stands no chance against Madison this weekend.

Dude, Clear Fork would be competitive for the most part, but tough to put them in top 4. Tedrow seemed to play well enough last night, despite the injured wrist. What starter was out?? Madison is peaking at the right time, as is Lex. As I said in another post, CF and Senior will be very interesting! That's if Senior gets by Port Clinton!

Other than the kid that had to sit, which move ins are standing out? Ontarios better sophomore has been out all season. Watching CF I don't see them any better than they usually are. The OCC is down some too, so they would be ok there this year.

Clear Fork had a starter miss the game for discipline. Agree with Madison and that is why I said either Ontario has no chance of Clear Fork could have competed. I would not guarantee them a top 4 finish but with the way they have played in some games this season it is understandable that they could have won enough games in the OCC to finish up there.

Ashland and Wooster off. Early on, I really didn't see anyone making much tourney noise this season.

If Clear Fork beats Senior in the sectional final does that change anyone’s opinion that would finish 6th in the OCC? Or would you just say it’s one game and don’t judge it based on that? No wrong answer, just curious on people’s opinion

Early on, I really didn't see anyone making much tourney noise this season. To me you need to have 2 good teams to have an impressive win and part of the problem is we are missing the other team for it to be impressive. To many teams are trying to soften their schedules and I agree that this will be the result. Less impressive wins. just some thoughts... Madison has won 9 games by 10 or more points(5 of which were SBC and MOAC) but only the Mansfield games sticks in your head. Maybe the other opponents are down. Wooster just beat Canton McKinley and started the season beating both Massillon schools. They are currently in their 3rd straight regular season with 13 or more wins with 2 games left. Madison sits at 13-8 with a game against Ontario left, which I assume you are picking Ontario to win since you think the OCC is down. Madison is in their 4th consecutive winning season, which is you check school history doesn't happen much. Is the OCC down? IMO, No. Do they have a great team? IMO, No.

Usually between Lex and Sr they have at least 1 great team. So how is 0 great teams not down? When the teams at the top of your conference are having down years it does make for a more competitive conference. But let's not mistake more competitive with not being a down year. I guess the post season will tell a lot. With the way that CF has stumbled to end the season with losses to Ont and Pleasant I would be shocked if they beat Sr.

So the question is would you rather win or finish 2nd in weak league or finish 3rd or 4th in a good league? Which one would help make you better? No, the question would be. If you have 225, do you want to play in a Conference with 1 DI school or a Conference with 4 DI schools and another that is out of DI for the first time in school history? Making you by far the smallest school in the Conference. Losing a lot of games, rarely if ever competing for Conference Titles in the money sports, drives down participation and you lose even more games. Home attendance goes down hurting the athletic budget. Playing in a conference in which you're an average sized school and scheduling tough non-league games is what makes you better. So as not to upset unknown individuals on a sports chat site, I must once again qualify all of my posts by ending them with JMHO.

If you feel Clear Fork would have been blown out in the OCC this season then Ontario stands no chance against Madison this weekend. I read nothing in the "write up" that gave any indication that Clear Fork would fall into the ambiguous category of "does well" in the OCC. After a very hot shooting 1st quarter by Clear Fork Ontario out scored them 61-36 over the next 2 and a half quarters to win by 10 on Senior night on their floor with a Conference Title on the line. Ontario has the "move-ins, transfers and open enrolled players", due to "building it and they will come", for a better education. Who was the missing starter and why was he missing? The "injured" player showed no sign of an injury. He was second in scoring behind Barnett. How many ppg does he average? Ontario beat Mansfield Senior last year. Does that mean Ontario finishes 3rd or 4th in the OCC this year? Are you saying since Clear Fork lost to Lex by 10, they would beat Lex in a second game? You tell us Madison beat Clear Fork by 4, Ontario beat Clear Fork by 10 at Clear Fork and should lose to Madison Friday, thus you're predicting Clear Fork beats Madison in a later game this season? You say Clear Fork's "style of play matches with Mt.Vernon". Does that mean you're predicting Co-Champ Mt.Vernon loses twice to Clear Fork? I see no mention of Clear Fork "matching" well with Senior. Please, show us where someone indicated anything close to, "Clear Fork would have been blownout in the OCC this year." Clear Fork would have to win 6 out of 10 games minimum against Lex, Mt.Vernon, Senior, Wooster and Madison to finish 3rd or 4th in the OCC this year. The most accurate statement in your post is that "Ontario stands no chance against Madison this weekend". JMHO

. Other than the kid that had to sit, which move ins are standing out? Ontarios better sophomore has been out all season. The starting point guard(Harris) and guards(Coburn & Houle) have all done well in their first season at Ontario. I know some come on hear and give credit elsewhere but all 3 are on the floor a lot. Harris did not "do well" in most games. Too many turnovers, WAY too many forced shots. He has only made one shot further than 5 feet from the basket all year. The freshman is a MUCH better PG overall. Joe has finally gotten Harris to cut his forced shots in half. Made him understand his roll is not to score in double figures, just run the offense, play tough defense against the opponents PG, cut down on his turnovers and pile up assists. Coburn has not been "doing well" the 2nd half of the season, except for his defense. IMO, due to Houle being eligible at mid season. Coburn is still starting, but you can see he worries about making a mistake or missing a shot, looking over his shoulder for Houle to sub in for him. mrsteel and dude, IMO 6-4 Soph guard Logan Houle is the best player on the team NOW and the Freshman, leading the team in scoring, is the 2nd best player on the team. EXCEPT for the occasions when their 6-7 forward is motivated and plays near his potential, like he did against Clear Fork. Which has not been the case most games this year. This is more than JMO. Pretty much a consensus of those who have seen most of Joe's 30+ years.

Clear Fork lost to Madison at Madison by less than 5, so all things can be connected but not predetermined. I would never argue the MOAC is on par with the OCC. Every year someone makes a statement about a team or a league being down and I normally laugh. Do we compare teams or leagues to the average year or to the best year? Do we expect another Jon Diebler or Jimmy Langhurst every season? Do we expect a Norwalk with 57 straight regular season wins to constantly be happening? Can we list the "great teams" in the OCC history? Been many good teams IMO but "great teams" are playing at least two weekends into March.
