The SBC is undergoing changes for this year, and so too is the SBC pick'em. Smitty1974, who I'd like to thank for running this pick'em for the past few years, has decided to pass the torch on to me, and I'll be running this in a similar way to the old NOL pick'em, with a few changes to accommodate the new SBC format.
First, I did consider the idea of making this a full 15 week competition, but in the end I have decided to continue my tradition of a regular season pick'em, with a separate playoff pick'em to follow. Simply put, this is called the SBC pick'em, not the OHSAA pick'em, and I want any final week drama to be about who can correctly pick the SBC rivalry games in week 10, not who can correctly pick a bunch of MAC and metro Catholic teams in week 15.
There will now be 10 games each week, for a total of 100 games for the season. In weeks 1-5 the games will consist of the 10 best matchups involving SBC teams, with any SBC crossover games automatically included. In weeks 6-10 the games will consist of the 9 SBC divisional games, plus one top game from another of the conferences in the N-Coast area. Each correctly picked game is worth 1 point, and I only keep track of correct picks as opposed to a running W-L record.
Each week there will be a point total tiebreaker attached to one of the games so that a weekly winner can be determined. At the end of the year, any ties in the final standings will be broken in the following order: 1) weekly wins, 2) weeks tied for most correct picks, 3) the weekly tiebreaker for week 10.
Picks will be due at 7:00 pm each Friday (or whichever day the first game of the week is), and edited posts will be allowed as long as the "last edit" timestamp is before the deadline.
I'll have the first week posted in another week or two.
