Second round of interviews is ongoing, hopefully to have a decision by the end of the week.

Who ended up getting second interviews? In a previous post they said they were down to two, then it went to four. Fox was one of the names, but who really know? I guess when it hits the paper we will all know for sure....unless it's "fake news" lol

Usually when this process has went this long, it may mean they have went cold on the top candidate for some reason. and have to regroup to plan B or as was the case the last time they were doing this, plan C. may be a hold up in finding a open teaching job? I'm not sure. But my guess is that they are in plan B mode. And you may not be getting the guy, or guys that were the top choices.

Potential teaching jobs is definitely the hold up. Things do not appear to be going as planned.

Ya know, totally unrelated (or maybe not): I was older than I care to admit to this forum when I found out Norwalk had a second high school, one that WASN'T St. Paul. Then again, Mom was a Flyer.

But then, if they end up being stupid enough not to take Fox, then they deserve what they get. I know he has a Guidance Counselor’s certificate.

The loss of Fox at Calvert would be a loss to the football program. A replacement would be filling some big shoes. If Fox does leave, good for him and his career. He'll have success everywhere he ends up.

I agree Fox should be the CLEAR cut front runner, the young man from Mapleton 2nd, and the current dc right behind him, no offense to the young man who is an alum, but no head coaching experience should eliminate that idea. If you hire one of the first 2, then bring back the dc in same capacity, that gives you 2 quality coaches to start the staff.

Robinhood nailed it. Let the DC work for Todd Fox. Good for Norwalk and the resume for a young coach would get a boost.

Fox is the top candidate. If no jobs open up for him then on to #2. This week could be telling.

Do schools not find a "job" for their top candidate anymore?

Do schools not find a "job" for their top candidate anymore? Still happens, but not as much with the tighter budgets.

A proven, winning, football coach would pay for himself rather quickly in revenue brought in by a winning football program as well as overall interest in the sport. Seems like a no brainer, hopefully Norwalk is able to figure something out...would hate to see them have to go to their second or third choice.

I think a decision makers argument against "creating" a position is that the money would come out of the General Fund, while any success or revenue created by a sports team would go to the athletic fund. While, I get what you are saying and agree with you, I think that is the argument for NOT creating a position.

The only way they nailed it is if they offered to Fox and he accepted.
