What little I know and follow it. Seems like there's some recruit's that are not interested in coming here anymore, And I seen on eSECpn, another player (WR) transferred out. Then there's Kirk Herbstriet and recruit situation, that OSU is not interested in anymore. I still think Herbstriet did that on purpose, Cause he hates Ohio State for some reason. Wanted that kid to go to an eSECpn school ? Just seems like there's a lot of behind the scene things going in Columbus.

Each case had there own, independent reason for what transpired. Trevon Grimes got little playing time his freshman year, caught passes for a total of 30 yds. and he explained there was some family health issues that deemed it necessary for him to be close to home. I wish him the best of luck.

Herbstreit is good for tv and will always be a Buckeye behind the scenes. IN a playoff tv show he said Alabama deserved the final spot built when they got it he stood up and walked off in disbelief that the Buckeyes did not get the spot.

Tonight will be Ohio State's 2nd appearance in the Cotton Bowl.
Here are highlights from the the first appearance, which was 31 years ago, when the Buckeyes became the first Big Ten team to play in the Cotton Bowl:

Notice he rotated Karsatos and Tupa at QB. This Cotton Bowl was 'interception city'......lol

Earl Bruce is one of the funniest, nicest people I have ever met.
8-3 Earl haha.

Hope JT goes out on a high note. Been fun listening to The Fan the last few days as folks have taken to ranking the top 10 QBs in OSU history. Beating USC in the Cotton Bowl would be a good end to a tough season.
I wanna see Darnold, and Bosa. Would be so sweet if CLE got Bosa with their second 1st round pick. Or first haha.

Your Cleveland Clowns, Never draft any college players from Ohio, Especially from Ohio State.

Defense gets another turnover and JT caps off the ensuing drive with a long TD run. 24-0 Bucks!

Very few things I hate more in football than a muffed punt. Especially in that situation....where the risk is absolutely nowhere freaking near the reward. Just let the damn ball go.

Not knowledgeable hate monger.
This year:
Completion % - JT .647, Darnold .637 TD Passes - JT 35, Darnold 26 Interceptions - JT 9, Darnold 13 Fumbles lost - JT 1, Darnold 9. Darnold is responsible for more Turnovers than anyone in the country. Rushing yards - JT 743, Darnold 90 Rushing TDs - JT 12, Darnold 5 QB Rating - JT #7, Darnold #18
Career Record against Top 20 Teams - JT 11-6, Darnold 4-5
Did Darnold play so poorly that the Browns won't draft him?

Outstanding job defense. USC making circus catches all night and yet the only points they gave up were after a muffed punt.
So we finally have a win over USC in my lifetime.

Glad I turned if off and went to bed at halftime, Doesn't look like I missed much. Saw on eSECpn sports center, Urban say "JT Barrett IV will always be part of the Meyer family".

The Good. Defense played lights out. I felt like our D line did what they normally do which is to get after the QB. 8 sacks and numerous hurries and a fumble recovery. Well done. Baker once again was all over the field making tackles. Fuller especially made sure tackles all game long too from his safety position. The Corners I think did an adequate job and the SC receivers made some great catches or their stats would be horrible. I almost wonder in lieu of the fact that Ward practiced all week if he had the team and coaches blessing to sit out. We seemed to not miss a beat as Okudah stepped in and played pretty well for a true freshman. I had read that he had a great week of practice and has been really coming on. Aside from LB,,,we had great depth on defense. Baker was in the same position as a Junior who will turn Pro now,,,not having him play last night would have really hurt us--thus I think the decision on his part to play was pretty crucial to the team defense success.
The average. The O line was average last night. We got very little push and had 4-5 situations where we needed a yard or less and could not get it on 3rd or 4th down. The play calling was on the conservative side in the 2nd half especially. It felt like Coach Tress was calling the plays and managing the game once we got up 24-0 and just milked the clock in the 2nd half. It was disappointing to see the inability to beat the stacked front with something different,,,but it appeared like the mindset was to not turn the ball over or remotely risk giving up a pick 6.
Aside from the one muffed punt,,our Special teams had a very good game. The coverage on punts and kickoffs was outstanding. We made our one field goal attempt while USC did not. The punter was consistent all game, while the USC punter was not. The kickoff guy did a good job hitting the ball deep and to the corner allowing our coverage to get down there and keep them inside the 20 all but one time. The SC kicker kicked it out of bounds once. To a point,,,the difference in overall special teams performance played a big part in the games' result.
Bowl games are kind of a crap shoot because of the layoff. We showed up and gave great effort even while being disappointed at not making the Final 4. The Iowa loss haunted the team goals, but after that loss we bounced back nicely and we won the Big Ten Outright and also won our Bowl against a top 8 team who had beaten us 7 straight times. I suppose one could complain that we didn't score in the 2nd half, but we didn't need to. We needed to not turn the ball over as one crucial turnover may have let SC get the momentum. We did not ever let them get momentum and in the end a 24-7 win will be what is in the record books.

The DL played as advertised. Seemed like every play there was at least one USC OL getting humiliated.
USC WR #80 is a clown. Opening fumble, and terrible play on the ball on the pick 6, yet he’s signaling 1st down like a clown late in the game they are losing 24-7. Even though he finished with decent stats, he was a major factor in the early 1st half lead for the Buckeyes.
Darnold had some beautiful balls and nice touch on a few throws, yet on others, his throwing motion looked like Uncle RICO. Regardless, hard to be a solid QB, when the DL was so dominating. 8 sacks and a few big fumbles and under almost constant pressure....a solid preview of next season if he ends up in CLE

The consensus is that Ohio St's D played lights out and was the reason behind the win without a doubt. Other than than it was a very below avg. performance for Ohio St's O, especially the qb play. Barrett, thank you for your service but I like many others are ready for a next level qb who can throw the ball. I would also have to agree with ESPN and many of the pundits out there in that OSU wasn't a top 4 team. Our D is without a doubt 1st or 2nd best in the nation. Our O against good teams is probably somewhere in the 20s.

In this game Barrett completed a higher % of his passes than Darnold did. Barrett had 2 TD runs to 0 for Darnold. Darnold didn't throw a TD pass. Barrett gained A LOT more yardage on the ground than Darnold. Barrett had ZERO turnovers to THREE for Darnold. And Darnald will be #1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft. After Ohio State went up 24-0 I KNEW, which you could not grasp, that the game plan changed to call NO plays which could result in a turnover and keep the clock running as much as possible. All that was required in this meaningless game was win by ONE point. Thus far the Big Ten is 5-0 in bowl games, making Ohio State look better than the "consensus" +1 believes. Ohio State beat their rival, as well as #13, #8, #4, #2 and lost to the #2 seed in the Final Four. As everyone knows, the mystery is Iowa. You wanna bet $1000 that the "consensus" will be at the end of the season, that Ohio State is one of the Top 4 teams in the country? Come on chicken shat, step up and put your money where your mouthy mouth is.
