Good game. Questionable calls/no calls down the stretch and into OT. Congrats Truckers.

That was an extremely questionable call at the end... What call? The offensive foul on Ontario. I did not see the entire game but apparently there were questionable calls both ways all game.

I also think that an Ontario player called a timeout just before the end of the fourth quarter when they did not have any timeouts. I'm not sure if that is even a technical at the high school level. Don't know if I could call that in that situation. Either way, it was a good game and I guess I cannot expect NBA caliber officiating.

Overall I thought it was adequate in regulation with 21 seconds left Norwalk up 4 they missed a FT and fouled on the rebound😵Ontario made both FTs then Norwalk missed another FT which OHS jumped on and forced OT

Ontario cannot miss from 3 That was because Gray chose to do all he could defensively to take Shaver out of the game, which left Kurtz wide open and other 3 point shooters open as well. Grey let 5 players other than Shaver make 3 pointers. In the 2nd half he gave up on his losing strategy and Shaver got 11 after half time, sitting more than usual with 4 fouls.

I never complain about officiating, as it's an impossible job. I'll just tell you what a good friend, who officiated in the area for 30 years said, and he NEVER says anything negative about officials. "It was a poorly officiated game." I'll just say this, the way it was called definitely favored Norwalk, the more physical team.
One call that there's no excuse for was a blocking foul on Ontario under the Norwalk basket, late in the 4th or in OT, can't remember. The female official(not that it matters} was under the basket. It was her call and she didn't blow her whistle. The official standing in front of the scorers table on the other side of the court, on a significant delayed whistle, made the call. It wasn't his call to make, he couldn't have a good look at the play, but he knew a call had to me made. When the foul shots were being taken he was standing near me. I asked, "Who were you covering for?" He gave a slight shrug of his shoulders.
THE reason Norwalk won this game? They were smarter and more disciplined. Ontario made several more really bad decisions and plays. Too close of a game to do that.

Also a key sequence was when Norwalk I believe had 5-6 consecutive shots at the basket... I agree they let them play and Norwalk definitely was more physical pretty typical tournament bball imo..

There are 2 scorebooks being kept and scoreboard operator keeping track of fouls on the board. ALSO there is an assistant coach for both teams whose job it is to keep track of timeouts. The officials have NO idea how many timeouts are left by both teams. It is the responsibility of someone at the table to notify the officials that a team did not have a time out. At that point a technical will be called.

I didn't say it wasn't a block. Just that there is no excuse for the official that is supposed to make the call, not make it. She either froze, thus she should not be officiating District games, or she truly felt, standing right in front of the play, that it was a no call. HOWEVER, the official that made the delayed call, 30 feet from the play, obviously did not trust his officiating partner. NOT a good look in a District Tournament.

I watched as a non biased observer. The call in question of the block and then called a charge---it reminded me of a Russ Pitts "special" where Russ was the only one in the gym who saw what he thought he saw.
All in all,,,imo Norwalk was the better team last night. Ya that possession where they got 5 shots was a big reason why I thought they were better. Shaver and Chapin both very good HS players in the area. Though I think Shelby looks awfully tough right now. They are at a different level.

Watched the Norwalk - Shelby game earlier this season it will be a large challenge for Norwalk but after the start to season I’ll think they’d take being right where they are. What a regional it should be this season with Shawnee, more than likely Shelby and probably Buchtel...
