As mentioned the other thread, why wouldn’t Bellevue want to fill their schedules with Lake and Bay teams (plus Shelby)? This can happen with the move to the Bay. It wasn’t going to happen by staying in the Lake. And they are the smallest school. It may change in a few years. Who knows. Some of the Bay schools are getting karma, IMO for not doing crossovers from the beginning. Great point man. Coach Nasonti called out Bay schools while giving Port Clinton credit for scheduling the Redmen. While talking to Brian Schubert a year ago he told me it was understood that Bay teams would cross over to play us when we voted to join the SBC. Obviously that didn’t happen

The MOAC is a girlfriend who you question whether or not should be a part of your future, but she pays half the rent so it remains mutually beneficial more-so than not.
From 2010-2019 (I'm skipping 2020 because it is sloppy, but the pattern holds up):
SBC Lake Schools: 27 Playoff Appearances, 28-27 Playoff Record, 1 State Title SBC Bay Schools : 14, 14-14 WBL Schools : 28, 38-28 OCC Schools : 21, 15-21 (No New Philly in these numbers) MOAC Schools : 23, 15-23
If we shuffle the numbers on a per school basis:
SBC Lake: 4.5 Playoff Appearances per School, 4.7 - 4.5 Avg Playoff Record SBC Bay : 2.3, 2.3 - 2.3 WBL : 2.8, 3.8 - 3.8 OCC : 3.0, 2.1 - 3.0 MOAC: : 3.3, 2.1 - 3.3 ---> These numbers take a dive without Shelby, responsible for a 6-4 playoff record and 4 appearances
If we rank the conferences based on their school's prior 10-year playoff pedigree (exlcuding 2020), it seems clear that the MOAC is dead last. Shelby pumps up those numbers. The OCC isn't much better on paper, but would still be a much better fit due to Ashland and Wooster racking up D2 playoff losses. Bad for them, but much better for a school like Shelby looking to play tougher teams.
Leaving the MOAC at this moment would be foolish for Shelby. However, it isn't sacrilegious to imply that Shelby is currently sitting in the weakest area conference. Independence is a bad fit for anyone, but a look at similar leagues say that the MOAC is poo-poo compared to the rest (in football). Though if I were to look at other sports, I can't imagine the MOAC holds up in boys/girls basketball, baseball, and other sports. I will continue to lambast the MOAC while lambasting the SBC for having their divisional set-up. I probably have nice things to say about most schools and set-ups (after all, Shelby would be 5-5 at best this year in the SBC Lake), but this website isn't fueled by sunshine and rainbows.
Edit: I have a peeve about quoting a post when I am directly following the post I could quote. This was for Fillmore. Probably the rest of y'all too, now that I am throwing my grievances out here.

Ten years is but a blip in the history of a conference. Shelby would not make the SBC better. Shelby would not make the OCC better. The MOAC has made Shelby look better. There is no way to prove that Shelby playing in the SBC or the OCC improves Shelby's post season.
Pleasant has 3 State Championships in football, Galion has a State Championship in football. How many State Championships does Shelby have in football?

In 2023, the Truckers will face Bellevue in Week 4. Nice to see this series will continue. That game will be the first non league matchup between Bellevue and Norwalk since sometime before 1912 (likely 1911.)
