The Buckeyes have another QB rated #1 player in the country.
On3, whoever that has, in their final rankings for the 2022 class has moved Devin Brown from #28 to #1 overall. I'm willing to bet this #1 will be enrolled a lot longer at Ohio State than the previous #1 QB.

Sounds like the Ohio State "Bullet" position(Safety/LB) is a thing of the past. Being replaced by Jim Knowle's "Bandit" position(DE/LB), that stands up on the end of the line next to a DT or moves off the line of scrimmage looking like a traditional LB. He also employs 3 Safeties that must be completely interchangeable, in order to disguise coverages.
I also noticed watching film, that on sure pass downs all the D-linemen stand at the line of scrimmage to rush the QB.
I don't know how these changes will sit with Larry Johnson.

I don't think disagreeing with WF in an OSU forum bodes well Doc. Or any forum I guess.

Remember when Ryan Day was the QB coach that picked Dwayne Haskins over Joe "gonna be better than Tom Brady" Burrow.
Ryan Day ran Joe Burrow out of Ohio State, so Joe Burrow found mediocre LSU which was willing to take him in. LSU cared for Joe Burrow and Joe Burrow took them to a National Championship and as soon as he left LSU went back to mediocre. Joe Burrow is awesome and Ryan Day didn't see it.
Joe Burrow was then drafted by mediocre Cincinnati of the NFL. Big Joe took mediocre Cincy, who hadn't won a playoff game in over 30 years all the way to the Super Bowl.
Ryan Day the QUARTERBACK coach recommended Dwayne Haskins over Joe Burrow. Ryan Day saw these 2 every day for hours on end and made the wrong choice. If Luke Fickell was the QB coach he would have made the right choice.
Luke Fickell > Ryan Day

Over simplified and revisionist boss. Haskins only played one year (Burrow got two) and Burrow was hurt in the spring.
Benching Jones for Barrett was a much worse move. Much worse. Haskins scored 50+ tds? First year as a starter. Love Burrow to death but come on. TB12 got ran out of UM for a baseball player. It happens. But you can't come at Haskins over Burrow with the year Haskins had.
Also, Urbs was the HC when Burrows transferred.

The Bullet never existed in the first place. There were 18 threads started by 11Warrior writers in the past 2 years about the Bullet Position. What position did Ronnie Hickman play last season?

Ryan Day hoodwinked Urban Meyer into selecting Haskins over Burrow Ryan Day most likely was the leak that got Meyer suspended Ryan Day set up Urban Meyer and stole his job
Luke Fickell = loyal Luke Fickell > Ryan Day

Also let's not let any of this detract from the fact that Harbaugh has to come to CBus for the first time in nearly half a decade because he botched a job interview and was passed on for a guy with no head coaching experience who doesn't even call plays.
Can't wait.

Well this thread has gotten quite juicy, in regard to all the STD talk!!
Speaking lightly on Burrow V. Haskins, how does one not go with Dwayne??
Also I am very interested in seeing the 2022 match-up of our beloved Buckeyes against what some will likely call the “rebuilding” TUN.
My honest and as unbiased guess as possible is this past years victory for TTUN, will keep them chirping for atleast 7-12 years on “the best team they have fielded since WW2.” To me what is sad is reality will never sit on on TTUN fans. It’s always this or that, not that the buckeyes are just flat out better.
I have quite enjoyed the Facebook enthusiasts who fall back to the overal win-loss record for TTUN, as if that makes up for 21 years of absolute domination, checking in at a 17-4 mark. If we want to take that to 1990 it’s still not so even with a 19-11-1 record.
For the Buckeyes it’s about keeping pace with the Georgia, Alabama’s in recruiting and player development.

Reading coach Knowles thoughts on his scheme of things, it is becoming increasingly apparent that the defense the Buckeyes put on the field, will be dramatically less predictable and far more creative than we have seen in recent years. My excitement for our defensive unit, is steadily rising as we learn more about his conceptual mindset.

My excitement for our defensive unit, is steadily rising as we learn more about his conceptual mindset. He comes from the conference that I believe has been the most visionary in terms of coming up with ways to defend the spread. Teams across the country have embraced the concepts of the Big 12.

In the Big Ten, the teams who are the biggest threats to Ohio State winning Big Ten Titles, which leads to playing in the Championship Play Off, year in and year out are the likes of Penn State, U of M and Wisconsin. None of which currently employ a "spread" anything close to what is seen in the Big 12. Knowles' defense first and foremost will have to stymie their run games. Which was not done this year in The Game.
Knowles himself says THE success of his defense at Oklahoma State was getting off the field on 3rd downs and allowing their offense to go to work. THAT was music to Ryan Days' ears.

Think Ryan Day and most Buckeyes are ready to move on from a 'read and react' defense, where the react portion of the scheme is all too often, seeing our LB's hitting wrong gaps or getting blocked out of the point of attack. We have been frustrated with our 4 and 5 star edge rushers not playing up to their God given abilities. If we have the guys up front, effectively doing their job, our secondary becomes better at what they do. The 'read and react' approach is letting the play come to you, where coach Knowles is suggesting a mix of multiple looks deception and intimidating aggression to change the tone, when our defense takes the field.
Very quickly, a young defense can develop an attitude that we haven't seen in quite some time.

I hated the "read and react" defense and "letting the play come to you." I would much rather be aggressive and live with any mistakes the defense would make rather than appear to be somewhat passive.

Harry Miller announced hes retiring from football. In his letter he said that he told Coach day last year that he wanted to kill himself.
All season long and even this off-season there were so many questions around what was going on with him. Well now we know. Very sad story to see.

It has become increasingly apparent, the desire to play football was lacking, for whatever reason. I wish him the best, as he moves on with his life.

I love listening to Ryan Day press conferences. You can pick up golden nuggets from one of the best offensive minds and recruiters in college football.
From his last one.
He tells recruits to take all the visits they want before they accept an Ohio State offer. Make sure Ohio State is where you want to play, because once you accept an Ohio State offer....your life changes forever.
Another one. 7 on 7s ARE NOT football. They do not help a QB in really seeing the field on a pass play. No 6-6 350 O-linemen to see over or around. No rushing D-linemen or blitzing LBS and DBs to deal with. Seeing the field and recognizing where the ball should go is what Ryan Day believes is THE single most important factor of a good QB becoming a great QB.

The greatest nugget from Ryan Day
"I'm pass happy and think it's always going to be 75 and sunny in November so instead of fixing the run game in September I like to try to throw for 600 yards a game in September. By doing that the run game will be non-existent vs good teams in November when it's cold and snowy out, by becoming one dimensional I help Michigan and make the OSU/Michigan rivalry more competitive. Why beat Michigan every time like Tressel and Urban, it's more fun to lose like Cooper did. That's exciting."
