I don't mind the district choosing sites for the tournaments. What I would like to see is to have some back up plans just in case of this situation. let's take one example from this year. In the DI Girls Regional the semi-final games where hosted by Westerville North and after the semi-finals where over the state saw that the crowd would be huge and they needed to move it to another site. The State chose to go to Otterbein U. I know it could be tough to have an alternative site ready to go especially for workers. But if they are given a notice saying that a particular school could host a district final then I think the AD of the particular school can prepare for this type of occasion. Example: Ashland HS District Possible sites to host a district final, if this situation arises - Willard, Ontario, Galion, Madison, Mansfield Sr., Shelby. The some questions to be asked. - are any of these teams still in the tournament - Can the gym seat over 2,000 people - Is there enough parking - Can the gym accommodate the media this is just spit-balling but I don't think there a good way to do it Not sure Shelby's new gym holds 2000. Besides I expect Shelby and Lex to most probably make the District tournament at least the next several years. Does Willard any longer hold a girl's District or Regional? The best that could happen would be if 2 or 3 were willing and able to be on notice maybe as late as the Sunday before the first District game.

Shelby lost that game the moment Bruskotter fouled out. Kid went for 37. Actually Shelby lost the game when Lex hit a layup as time expired. Before that they were up without him. Unless you think Shelby only has one player. Shelby has the best player in the North West District that scored the same number of points as the total of all other players on Shelby's team. He had the ball in his hands at least 75% of the time and it looked as though all the other players usually chose not to take shots, deferring to him.

It was fine having this district at Ashland HS during covid year but we are now starting to see this venue is way too small. A LOT of things need to go back to the way they were in pre-covid years. All of which are more important than high school basketball.

Seeing highlights from other venues on Twitter showcases how small of a venue AHS is for district play. Mansfield and Sandusky going d2 really handicapped our district's best choices for sites. Saw plenty of people on the Lex side sitting in the aisles. Lots of standing room folks got a great view of that buzzer beater layup. Shelby had some stray seats at the top of our side. It could be better, but only Madison serves as a better choice. I think that's a little unfair to the SBC teams.rsr Mansfield has been DII for several years. This is the first time Madison has been DI for some times. Ontario used to be in DIII, but will never be DIII again. Galion is DII but shrinking. Willard is DII for the first time in a long time. Lex has almost always been DII. Norwalk has been DII most years. Very problematic. ALL better choices than Ashland HS, which has always been DI. Tiffin is now DI, only been in their gym once, is that a possibility?

IMO, Shelby lost the game at 3 key points. End of half, held ball for last shot for nearly minute, turned ball over and Lex scored. End of 3rd, held ball for last 25 of 30 seconds, turned ball over and Lex scored. End of OT, held ball for 20 of last 25 seconds (at least got a shot off), Lex rebounded and ran length of floor to score. The turnovers at half and end of 3rd quarter were huge and killer, IMO. Those two plays were potential total of 4 to 8 point play turnarounds. Lex better coached, better disciplined team. Remember Lex was playing short-handed also the entire game. Think Lex will give the Streaks huge problems with their discipline and length. Congrats to both teams on a fun game With Bruskotter in foul trouble Shelby and I believe not leaving the floor the entire game, coach did the right thing trying to shorten the game. If he fouls out earlier, Lex wins in regulation.

I watched Marquette win the Big East, spurring a Marquette graduate friend of mine to harass me with memes about why my Friars suck. Then I watched Xavier snap Providence's undefeated home season last night, spurring a personal protest of going to Weber's in Shelby due to the bartender being a Xavier fan. Luckily, I have curated my life carefully to not be friends with anyone from Lexington. No one can hurt me tonight. I think I'm catching onto this "safe space" thing. My brother used to own Weber's...just far enough away that i couldn't stop by every night. I got in trouble enough when I went. What's even worse, a friend owned Phil's. SO on the way to Weber's i had to stop at Phil's AND on the way home from Weber's had to stop at Phil's. I often wonder how i stayed alive in those days AND stayed married. Did you know Weber's has the longest continuing liquor license in Richland County? At one time it was a stagecoach stop.

Cavs players outside of Donovan and DG are shooting 28% from 3 since Feb 1st. The Cavs bench is also ranked 28th in bench scoring. The Cavs have a nice core 4 players in Donovan, DG, Allen, and Mobley but in the offseason and moving forward, it will be about finding bench production and shooters to complement these 4. Okoro 13-33 (39%) Cedi 14-45 (31%) Wade 8-27 (29%) Mobley 6-24 (23%) Rubio 5-22 (23%) Stevens 2-9 (22%) Levert 5-26 (19%) The bench was traded to get DG and Love hit the age wall. I can remember how most said it was a MUST to get Levert. As in baseball the best trades are made when the player is one year removed from when their skills begin to drop off. Cedi, Wade, Stevens, and Rubio are typical bench players when you have 4 core players like the Cavs have. I'm more concerned with being able to keep those 4 starters in coming years.

I think there's been some TEAM issues, most involving Key and Sensibaugh. The better play has occurred after Key is out for the season and Sensibaugh is getting fewer minutes.

I could not imagine that the Ontario administration would value a parent petition but I could be wrong after hearing the stories from one of their staff members about parents involved in Ontario swimming and cross country. Those petition letters have worked before, to my surprise. Wrong again. No parent is involved in cross country. The only teacher ever to be a coach in swimming was in 1960, when the indoor pool opened and they recruited Harding's swim coach. As a matter of fact my REAL sources tell me there's only been "papers" floated once in the past 20 years and it was rejected in kind. Your sources are getting worse and worse. You need to enlist me as your source

Can't, the eyesore is still under litigation.
The facts: A long time Mansfield church got a new pastor during a period of shrinking attendance. He believed like the famous baseball movie. "Build it and they will come". SO he convinced a contractor to start building the new church, even though there was no money. He also believed that if you have faith the good Lord will supply what is needed. Well, that worked for awhile, but the congregation became disenchanted with the design and cost and stopped donating money. The contractor asked for some money and the Pastor said it was coming and told the contractor to keep working. Eventually the contractor had no money to keep building and the pastor had no money to give him, for what he had already done. Then the lawsuits began. The Pastor saying he never promised any money and the contractor said he did make promises and was owed money for what had been built.
Funny you should ask. Long ago after Ontario's all weather track was built the person who was head of the committee raising the money wanted to continue to raise money to build exactly what you suggested. A 3000 seat all purpose facility for Ontario schools. Buy adjacent land and build it west of the football field. Should be easy with all the businesses in Ontario right? Wrong. The big businesses in Ontario told the people seeking donations that they couldn't give, because even though they were located in Ontario they considered themselves Richland County businesses. AND if they give money to Ontario schools they'd have to give to all Richland County schools. SO very little money was raised through donations and a Bingo game was started. Two years later enough money was raised to build the track. After 2 nights a week every week for 2 years, none of the volunteers wanted to continue for a pie in the sky field house.
With that being said, the infamous Park Ave West shopping center is going to be leveled. An excellent place to build a 3000 seat facility, get busy.
Addendum: However this was before Ontario school's two multi-millionaire benefactors moved in.

I like pontoon boats and floating and fishing on Mifflin Lake, we hill jacks don't mind. Then why did the grandparents start a petition to have their son fired? As was said above. OR do you only look for my posts? Isn't that insulting? Isn't that plot a bit disingenuous at the least to two school districts in order to squeeze more money out of one? As YOU purport he did. Must not an AD be highly respected to do his job well? Isn't it insulting to move to a community, then the first year there sign "papers". That you imply to know so much about, but refuse to share. That you say is what is "probable" they did. Which is really insulting to them. Then rudely deleted that word from MY past that I quoted of yours, to make yourself look less mendacious.

One of the more amazing Sectional Tournament runs was by Mansfield St.Peters.
3 - starting in the 3rd year of having a basketball program in 60-61 to 62-63. Then did not win one in 63-64 15 - from 64-65 thru 78-79. Then did not win one in 79-80. 13 - from 80-81 to 92-93
That's 31 Sectional Titles in 33 years. There were 6 head coaches in those 33 years
Making it to Columbus 7 times winning 2 State Titles

I'm going to ruin this thread because I'm cheap and simple.. I buy Tony's Pepperoni Pizza at grocery store, then buy Hormel Pepperoni for extra Pepperoni, slice up green peppers, then add canned mushrooms I haven't had a good frozen pizza. I'm not crazy about them, but I saw this AD and it piqued my interest. So I bought one at Krogers. It was advertised as having a croissant crust. I really like croissants so i thought why not. Crust was thick, but not doughy, actually a little flakey like a croissant. Added a few slices of pepperoni and more cheese. I would buy another one. Sorry can't remember the brand.

That's what happens at Madison. That's why the Megels got out last year. That's why AD Doug Ricket and his family wanted out a couple of years ago, but he didn't get the Ontario AD job. That's why another athlete Madison family, the Van Tilburgs, moved to Ontario this year. That's why the turnover in football coaches at Madison has been embarrassing. That's why their wrestling program has nose dived. That's why parents out there do not want advanced placement classes. The AD pulled his name before the final cut was made and the result was a pay increase at current job. Well played by him. If you talk to members of that moving family it's probable they signed the papers. So you're telling us if Rickeret got the AD job at Ontario he would have turned it down and admitted his application was just a ploy to screw Madison out of more money?? Glad to know you think so highly of him. AND you also want us to believe that the Van Tilburgs moved to Ontario, knowing this hated coach was already there, THEN signed papers to get him fired?? Another family you've insulted. Since you know so much about these "papers", who started them and why? Don't be afraid, YOU broached the subject. Looks poorly of individuals to make statements and not be willing to elaborate. OH, now I see "it's probable". Thus just BS? Makes you look worse.

I don’t have an opinion one way or the other, but 100 wins in 11 years of coaching is a below .500 record. At Madison 9 seasons he was 79-129. At Ontario 2 seasons, so far he is 21-26. Thank you little buddy, a much better winning % from the bad place he was in, to the new situation. AND an improvement of 50% from last season to this season.

Sandusky Shelby Sandusky wins District Lex is overrated imo . Sr High no discipline Way to follow the seedings. Sandusky is the #1 seed Shelby is the #2 seed Lexington #3 seed as rated Mansfield #5 seed and has played without discipline for 15 years. Bellevue may have been the team overrated as the #4 Since I did not see this game and dude has interjected the "overrated" cheer. Did the relatively close final score of the Senior/Bellevue game indicate Bellevue played really well OR did Senior have close to their worst effort of the season?

THUS, no more doltish than yours! At least be accurate in assessments, when done so, one's points are more salient and respected. Leaving the court at one bench and reentering at the other bench, does not amount to "run the length of the floor". If that's the best you can do ... I stand corrected on my misjudgement of the distance. The play was a violation none the less. It will change nothing about the outcome or who plays on Thursday. I had a player once pull a similar stunt except on the base line trying to get around a screen. The official called it immediately and explained it to me that a player cannot leave the field of play ... voluntarily ... to gain an advantage. I didn't ask for chapter and verse on the violation ... but I didn't forget it either The best you can do is "asinine", which I noticed magically disappeared from this thread, which is also "asinine". You were asked to cite the rule that covers this situation. Did I miss it? In the play you recall, did the official judge it obvious the player gained an advantage? What if the player had gone behind the screen to avoid running over the player setting the screen, but never came back on the floor until after a shot was taken? Is a player allowed to avoid making a foul? Would an advantage have occurred in that case? As not in this case? I am positive that you are aware there are "ticky tack" fouls happening all the time, but are not called. Judgements by officials. JMO, and it's ok with me if you have a differing view, as long as you don't hurl insults. I will forgive, since your hurling happened after your alma mater lost a hard fought game and you were in a bad place.
