Yesterday Stimmel finished 4th in the NCAA Indoor Championship with a vault of 4.40m. She was the only freshmen to compete in pole vault. AND, women vaulters do not usually reach their prime until their late 20s

One thing I don't understand, why can't Sandusky do what let's say a public like Rossford does? Do kids from Perkins transfer to Sandusky or is it the opposite?

Sandusky style of play works until you meet a team that has solid guards . The further you advance ,,,the better the guard play normally. Lex would have given L West a better game. Except Lex's guard play was their weakness. Which was highlighted by having their 6-8 kid off the bench do a lot off the ball handling in the 2nd half.

The talk concerning the private vs public has been going on since the early 90s when it started to blossom. Certain coaches took advantage of the existing rules at that time with little oversight. Today, much of what happened in the past continues. New coaches coming in have figured out the formula for success in a hurry. More importantly with the pandemic closing public schools and canceling games (even this year) has forced kids along with parents to look for better alternatives than public schools. This has destroyed many once tradition rich big city schools. Kids with talents and parents want an education and playing time. The over zealous school boards closing schools have only added to the acceleration of talent moving to private schools. This is only the tip of the iceberg. Once the trend has been set up it will will increase in time. There are multiple examples of this if you study history and compare to today. Since the early 90s I have been waiting for privates to win all division in both boys and girls. Only a matter of time till it happens now Not the case in all areas. The private school enrollments in Mansfield have shrunk, along with the city schools. Mansfield St.Peters, Mansfield Senior AND the no longer in existence Malabar basketball is nothing like it was in the early 90s and earlier. St.Peters now barely has enough players to have a team, The biggest problem is the OHSAA is afraid to enforce their own Bylaws, for fear of protracted lawsuits that could bankrupt them. For example, did all those kids for Rossford that don't live in Rossford, did they have to sit out half the season and tournament the year they showed up in Rossford?

I watched the complete replay of the game and saw Izzo and his #1 assistant sitting next to each other on the bench just before the game started. The looks on their faces you could tell they thought they were in trouble. Players can feel vibes like that from their coaches. I can't remember who the announcer was in the last Ohio State win of the regular season, but his comment was prophetic. "No one is going to want to play this team in the Big Ten Tournament."

The key OSU stats from this game.... 15 assists, 9 blocks, 4 steals and only 4 turnovers. That is an amazing stat line for a young team playing the game the way it should be played.

Sensabaugh is out for todays game with knee soreness. His desires are fine with me. Ironic the best game OSU has played since early in the season was without Sensibaugh and Key. IMO Okpara is a MUCH better defender than Key. Key's points are not needed with the scoring we're getting from the other 4 NOW on the floor. AND the offense stagnates when Key was fed in the post and everyone else stood around and watched. What you get with Key out of the lineup is more like a free flowing NBA offense with Okpara getting his double figure scoring from dunks on pick and rolls and put backs. Key will be a good back up to Okpara next season OR realize what his minutes will be and enter The Portal rehabbing his shoulder surgery. Due to seeing the growth of the long, explosive leeper, shot blocker and rebounding 7-footer. Who I expect will add 20 pounds of muscle by next season. AND Okpara has only played basketball for 5 years. One last observation between Key and Okpara, in which there is no comparison. Okpara is MUCH better at hedging and hustling back to his man in the key.

I think Wisconsin went like 11 minutes in the first half without a basket. Often streaks like that even out in a game
Thornton says he knows he hit the "freshman wall" a few weeks ago and battled through it.

Private schools that some good players want to attend, because they know their teams will "made it this far", most years.

It's honestly a little bit sad that really good college wrestlers only have the Olympics (wrestling freestyle or Greco) or some garbage like the WWE entertainment as an option post-NCAA or post-NAIA. The amount of time and effort invested in the sport with little financial reward makes it difficult to understand sometimes, however I believe now as I always have..... wrestlers are wired just a little different than other athletes. The amount of time, blood, sweat and tears invested is second to no other sport and the reward in this sport is first and formost internal.... no one else is on that mat when you are getting your *** kicked, and there's no one to save you in a match. The physicality alone makes it intimidating as a sport. The idea that you can take another person to the ground, and control them in order to pin them to the mat thereby removing their ability to stop you, makes it the ultimate combat sprot in my book. The only thing even remotely close is MMA, which wrestlers are normally very good at. It's also a team sport, but more importantly an individual sport first. You can be the worst wrestler on your team, and have a losing record, but still be a national champion if you are on the right team at the right time.
I can go on, but it would bore those who have never donned a singlet or wrestling shoes or headgear and stepped on that mat to face the ultimate physical challenge...
JM2C
WWE isn’t garbage, but I agree to your statement about time and effort high school and college wrestlers put in. Those who "wrestle" in the WWE MUST belong to the Actors Guild, the same union the actors in hollywood belong to. Those who participate in MMA do not.

The most successful wrestlers are usually very intelligent. There is a good deal of physics involved in wrestling. The push and pull of 2 human beings is undeniable in this sport. The great ones have an instantaneous "feel" for when their opponent is going to make a move in one direction or the other. And his mind knows(has a feel) for the counter action naturally. If this "feel" is not immediate, you lose. Quite cerebral, only realized by those who have worn a singlet.

Online story said R Valley shot 60% from the field and 12-13 from the free throws. R Valley's first seven baskets were 3's. Vikings play Watterson (15-9) Saturday. Can Shelby win tonight to get two MOAC teams to the district finals? Looks like it's up to River Valley. Watterson will be a good test for them. Is like to see them play Ready. No one in the Regionals for the MOAC OR the OCC.

Probably? They beat St. Ed’s. so did Hoban in a Regional Semi. As buckeyefan73 stated, anything can happen during Madness Speaking of Hoban, in football. I read they have one of the best WRs in the country and he's a Freshman this year. He looks like a college receiver in the mold of Harrison Junior. I bet he also plays basketball.

The women had to come back from 24 down yesterday and now are getting thrashed once again, this time by 28 and it’s only the 2nd quarter. The women only have one 3-point shooter they can count on. Only one post player and she prefers to shoot from the outside and opponents have figured out how to beat their press and score off it.

Nobody would have to count "heads". Every AD should know his gyms capacity and would shut down ticket sales when that number is reached. "Should" and "would" are the operative words.

I was told both Senior and Sandusky are very close to the cutoff for D2 so it might be possible they are both D1 next year. If that’s the case one of those gyms becomes available. Or the other alternative is someone with deep pockets builds a 3-4,000 seat event center in Richland County. I’m sure it could be used for more things than high school basketball games. Willard or Norwalk would be more centrally located in District
