That team was talented but did struggle at times usually due to guys wanting the ball....On that Sr. High team Dapries was a freshman who didnt play much only ave 4 points a game........Tyrone Buck 14ppg was a 6'5" jumping jack who played junior college due to grades then disappeared....Tim Harless 15ppg 6'3" guard forward was athletic and from what I recall lettered 4 years on OSU volleyball team....My fav on team was Bubba Toodie 12ppg 6'1" ultra athletic but skinny guard who had full rides for track in long jumping and sprints..think he was 1st or 2nd at state in both events.. believe he went to Texas on full ride for track and god knows what happened but was back in town months later... total waste of talent......Rob Andrews 6'1" 6ppg was usually the other starter a powerfully built guy who had a full ride and performed well at eastern kentucky at running back........So to answer your question I feel they finally jelled and got hot at the right time....... Now you got me thinking that team got beat twice by Malabar who was state ranked with the 6'5 pair of Eugene mcruter and Anthony Melton with guards Andre Feagin, Don Williams and Melvin Selmon.....plus freshman Brian Bueford 6'5" who didnt play varsity but was one my favorite all time Falcon players.....................This goes back to my original comment about Mansfield and their current situation.................Those teams were great and couldn't imagine those two combined like they are now................ Unofficially if Don Williams had scored 15 more points for Malabar they would have had 6 guys average double figures...assuming the 4 games Melton didn't show up in the box scores were DNPs.

Can anyone tell me about the 1984-85 State Runner-Up Tygers? How did a 13-7 regular season team make a run to the State Final? crawfordcountybasketball.com/richland/198485richland.html#mansfieldot win in the Sectional Semi 3 point win in Sectional Final 3 point win in District Semi 3 point win in District Final 4 point win in Regional Semi 17 point win in Regional Final 10 point win in State Semi Lost in State Final Did someone come back from injury in the middle of the tournament, or was it one of those rare, team starts getting hot at just the right time. Because they certainly were not hot in those 2 Sectional games. Look at who the 6 regular season losses were to, and all but one were on the road. lost at 22-1 Malabar 68-70 lost at 12-10 Lexington in OT 63-67. Lex started out 9-3 lost at 19-5 Willard 80-92. Willard lost to Malabar 2x, and once to 4 loss Bellevue lost at 19-7 St. Peter's 77-85. 13 ppg scorer Tyrone Buck was injured and did not play. He scored 4 in the loss at Madison the next week lost at 13-8 Madison 67-74. Madison's Tim Dennison goes off for 25 lost to 22-1 Malabar 64-65 lost at Massillon Washington 84-89. I believe Massillon was 12-6 after that game. 12 ppg scorer Eric "Bubba" Toddie missed this game due to an injury

And Mansfield is 1-4. When was the last time they did that? When was the last time Clear Fork beat Senior? January 17, 1984. Ends a streak of 29 straight...with an average margin of 22 points. 24 straight in OCC.

And now 1-5. 1980/81 sqaud started out 0-5 and won at Lex to start out 1-5. They finished up at 7-16 with a Sectional title. I thought it was the 1981/82 season. Woops. Had the rest of the details right at least.
