Breaking per 247Sports, multiple OSU players have tested positive and the game vs. Illinois this weekend is in jeopardy. Great... that will hurt....

I hate to ever say this, but the MHSAA does it better, and every wrestling program in the state is involved in the team tournament. Week one is team districts on Thursday, in a 4 team district and on that following Saturday, it's the individual district tournament. Week two has team regionals on Thursday with 8 regions, and that following Saturday is individual regionals (with only a bracket of 8 - top four qualify to individual states.) Week three is the state team tournament with 8 teams per division (Michigan has 4 divisions) and week four is the individual state tournament. It seemed odd when I first got involved in it back around the 2000-2001 school year, but it really is quite logical and gets every high school team involved much as Ohio does for basketball. JM2C

LOL...good story and so much truth to it. My wife and I were in Pennsylvania 20 or so years ago, and it was the beginning of trout season and why we were there. My in-laws live on a stocked trout stream and the darn things weren't biting, so even though it was a little early for morels, I talked her into going for a morel walk in the local state game lands. I figured it was worth a shot... We have no idea where, but were just kind of randomly walking about and came across a guy walking out with a clear gallon bag full of them. We asked if he left any for us and he said he thought he got them all... we kind of ambled aimlessly in the direction he seemed to be coming from, not really knowing where was best to look, but we figured it out finally.
Needless to say, we hit the motherload that afternoon.. Between then and the next day, we picked over 400 morels on that little plateau on an old strip mine. I still assume that the wind blew just right and the soil was just the right acidity with the small bits of coal in it. I came across a grassy top of one of the coal hills and found at least 40 of those monsters right on the top of that hill, and all of them were about 6-7 inches tall. I was simply amazed.
We have been back there on the same plateau since then, but never seem to have the timing right and have only ever found just a few there ever again...but that year?? Just wow!!!

Hey Buckeye2B....Is your Gov gonna allow you to get out in the woods and hunt for Morels this year? If not, they'll all go to spore and will be thicker than the Trillium next year. That being the case, even I should be able to find a garbage bag full of em, south of Frankfort next May. Michigan morels are amazing. I just found three in my front yard under two apple trees and in an area that was completely dug up two summers ago. (The apple trees are on the end of a raised septic field...) I always found them at the old house also under the apple trees in a small orchard we had. Gotta love the flavor of morels...

now i just read that the cdc next winter could be worse that what we have.i have to wait and see but i am scared if it happens and winter sports, high school.college and pro sports in 2020-2021 could be shut down.its wait and see but i didnt like what the cdc said.nationally. That's pretty scary to even think that far ahead. So SNL picked up on Gretchen Whitmer the other night and it was kind of funny... See below:

It sucks on both counts. My daughter is a senior this year and finding things to celebrate about it is difficult. It's nice to be able to spend a little more time with her and at home, but the rest of the process just blows.

That’s where she already kind of was. We are hunkered down until April 30th as it is, but oddly enough, Dewine is leading the pack. Whitmer has been following him since the start.

Today, they were calling for 15,000 or so vehicles to descend on Lansing to oppose some of her policies and business closures. Looks like quite a few showed up, but not really what I expected to see. Whitmer acknowledges it in her afternoon briefing, but the reality is 28,000 cases with 1921 dead (official report just now) in a state of ten million. Just need to get past this initial wave , so that the next wave isn’t so difficult on the medical professionals as COVID 19 runs its natural course (unless there is some type of vaccine that is discovered in the meantime.)

Whitmer is on Biden's list for VP candidates. I saw this posted elsewhere as well. She is not a fan favorite so far and I have seen others claiming that she only ran for governor to get her name out there for the Democratic VP nomination. However, she won't get my vote. So far, she has simply followed DeWine's lead inasmuch as the COVID-19 and she doesn't exactly instill a sense of calm or in control in me. When the state reps and senate started to buck her 45 cent gas tax increase to fix the damn roads, her response was to line item veto stuff to make her point. She had an education increase for every district across the board, EXCEPT the charter schools. They were expected to do the same with less funding, and she did that on other issues as well, where she knee jerked with specific groups almost to make a point.
Not a fan.

I see he has a skeleton in the closet that is just out. He has a former staffer claiming he assaulted her when she was a staffer in 1993. She claims she is making a paper trail in case, because the time limits are passed. Wonder how many of these are going to pop up...

I had a True Nolan gal call yesterday telling me they were going to come and spray for bugs. I told her that I didn't consider spraying for bugs an essential business. It kinda "bugged" her. Funny considering... LOL! I did read in her executive order specific traveling orders which are interesting... Individuals may also travel: To return to a home or place of residence from outside this state. To leave this state for a home or residence elsewhere. Between two residences in this state, through April 10, 2020. After that date, travel between two residences is not permitted. She gave them a day to come home from up north... 🙄

In many jurisdictions they ticket offenders for disorderly conduct because there is no actual law preventing people from doing what they are doing. Governor's orders are not laws and there are many legal issues with ticketing/arresting people for government decrees which are often arbitrary and/or unconstitutional. Disorderly conduct is an officer's "go to" crime when they can't find a real one. I’m good with limiting interaction between people considering authorities believe that the COVID is so infectious and I want to assume that people can respect that as a general rule. I am trusting that those politicians and pandemic authorities wouldn’t steer their constituents the wrong way. However, to listen to Whitmer and her comment about her “order” pushed my “rebel without a cause” buttons. I also get my dander up that she leaves a store like Home Depot or Lowe’s open for those items she considers essential, but closes specific departments.. Here is a part of her order: For stores of more than 50,000 square feet: Limit the number of customers in the store at one time (excluding employees) to 4 people per 1,000 square feet of customer floor space. The amount of customer floor space must be calculated to exclude store areas that are closed under subprovision (2) of this subsection. Close areas of the store—by cordoning them off, placing signs in aisles, posting prominent signs, removing goods from shelves, or other appropriate means—that are dedicated to the following classes of goods: Carpet or flooring. Furniture. Garden centers and plant nurseries. Paint. If you are there for lumber?? It’s ok. If you are there to purchase tools? It’s ok. A new mower? It’s not garden center, so should be ok. And so on and so on. It seems to me that if you are allowing the store to be open, then the difference of adding those areas for shopping is minimal in the big picture. People are stuck so let them be productive if they choose.

I remember talking a little with you about it as well. I’m honestly not sure how she intends to manage it, but I would be willing to bet if you’re far enough north, they may ticket you. I’ve heard of groups being ticketed here for being together and not minding the 6’ rule, but this “no residence to residence travel” is new.
If you do decide to go, maybe wait until after April 30 to see if she lifts the ban???

Her explanation on the lawn crews is that someone has to fuel the vehicles and someone has to go to the job site, that it’s not essential. However, some cities are more concerned with the possibility of breeding mosquitoes or rats or any of your choice of vermin and have committed to not writing any tickets to those lawn crews that work.
She’s also issued an order for no one to travel from residence to residence. Many Michiganders have a cabin up north or property up north, and I know a few right now who are not working who have decided to go to their property up north and stay. The governor two weeks ago said this is a great idea ( I assume figuring it would help with this social distancing ) but now has issued an order that no one is allowed to travel from residence to residence.
I don’t really care, because I mow my own lawn, and I don’t have a cabin up north. She is getting a ton of pressure from above and below and you could hear it in her statements today, as she was getting snarky with the reporter about her “executive order” being just that... not a suggestion, but an order. It sounded like a mom scolding her kids... 😇

Unfortunately I don’t have a definitive stand regarding this virus... I’m not sure that it’s the superbug that is being claimed, however, I’m not sure any level of disbelief is worth the risk. I’m diabetic and in my 50’s, so should I throw caution to the wind?? I don’t think so, however, about a month back I had one hell of a bug come through my home? Corona?? I don’t know, but it kicked my backside and I missed the first work days for illness in over five years.
If I am in a position to make these decisions for the public, I don’t have a choice except to make people safe, although it’s political suicide. However, I do disagree with some of the choices being made, as much as closing specific departments in stores deemed essential. In Michigan, you can now go to Home Depot to get essential items (cleaning agents, things for emergency home repairs...) but not paint because that’s not essential. Lawn services are not considered essential, but some cities feel they are and are not ticketing because the lawns being cut will keep vermin down. I realize she is drawing lines... I just don’t know that I agree with the delivery. Some are really starting to try to use their own common sense to make decisions.
So you know, Michigan is currently at 22783 cases and 1281 have died.

She’s locking us down even more. She has extended the at home to April 30th and taken businesses like Lowe’s down to essential services only... so buying project stuff like paint, or wood, or...or...or.... I had a dishwasher on hold there because I was trying to find an installer... The hell with that. I went and picked it up just to have it here. I might find someone or may just have to YouTube and install myself. Bottom line, is she is following the restrictions that Meijer and Walmart are already following, so she’s still late to the party. When she tries to get herself into a vice presidency position, run away.
Our roads here pretty much suck, and part of her big campaign promise to get elected was to “fix the damn roads.” However, she failed to tell her electors that she was going to increase the fuel tax by 45 cents a gallon. Unfortunately, the state has pulled this garbage before and not resolved the issue, so the entire state, Dems and Republicans we’re raising hell with her. She then started vetoing line items in her budget proposal (looked like she was trying to prove her power) and again everyone was up in arms. My wife thinks she’s doing a good job with the virus... I’m not so sure that anyone can have their job performance validated though in response to the pandemic. I’m on the fence about that one.

I think it has to do with the timing and the belief by those in the Detroit area that they are above this thing and many have continued to do as they choose. Honestly, I’m in Monroe, between Detroit and Toledo. The three counties that make up the Detroit metro area have about 15,000 cases currently. Toledo has about 350. Monroe County only has 130. I would expect that we would be higher, except that once you go west of Monroe, we are predominantly rural county. Detroit, and the Detroit metro area, has over 4 million people in those three counties, hence I don’t think the numbers are really all that askew.
And as far as returning to Ohio, I wish... My wife and I both work at a school, and are totally ingrained in the community. We both have good positions with the school, and after this many years, I don’t see it happening. Two years ago we sold our house, and bought a new much larger home, situated on the River Raisin in Monroe and are hoping to eventually move my in-laws here. Both are suffering from health issues, and it would help our ability to assist them. So it looks like I will remain a displaced Buckeye... 😉

I work at a charter school in Xichigan and we are officially closed. The governor’s office has recommended we be paid as we would be normally and although my wife and I work at a charter school, they have committed to pay us through the end of the school year. I can’t say it’s that way everywhere, but I think Gov. Whitmer feels that since she has closed the schools and student counts have already been done for funding, that this will help keep money moving in state and has requested the schools continue to pay employees. Since we are doubly invested in the school, I have to admit I’m glad. We are both admins (she is the special ed director and I am the transportation director) but they are paying employees across the board, including my bus drivers and bus aides. I’m not normally a Whitmer fan, but admittedly thankful in this case.
The MHSAA came out the next day and cancelled suspended winter sports and spring sports. The party is over.

Bunch of lightweights...
Best wrestling movie in history.... Visionquest. Louden Swain in the relentless pursuit of Shute, the returning state champion, and Carla, a traveling hotty who could interfere with the quest of taking down Shute.
Legendary, with John Cena wasn't too bad either, but Visionquest has been and always will be the wrestling movie king!!
Football: We are Marshall... still brings me to tears and I own two copies of the movie and Facing the Giants - truly inspirational.
Basketball: Glory Road

I work at a school in Michigan and the knee jerk reaction with this damn virus is unreal. I think I believe that there is some potential for this virus to go awry but it sure feels like more shutdowns are coming. Our district is about 2500 kids, but we are also hearing from a substantially larger district that they are beginning to plan for a shutdown as well. That may be on the extreme end, but it’s going to get weirder before this stupidity ends. You heard it here first...

Since when did you become a fan of the NCAA? www.d3football.com/landing/indexwww.d3wrestle.com/I didn't look very hard, but here are just two websites who choose not to use your Roman numerals... and if you don't recognize what NDSU has done in recent years, then you won't understand why they open with D1 Oregon next fall. Meters? LOL! And FWIW, I often refer to that level as 1-AA by choice.

So you understood the question Willard, but you didn't answer it. I watched NDSU win a D1 natty again this year, but was it a 1-AA or FBS natty when you were standing around the water cooler Monday morning talking about it?
First of all, it's not D1, it's DI. Secondly, you never mentioned FBS, when you brought up FCS. One can't exist without the other. Lol Buckeye2b, see what you got yourself into.

Targeting??? Spearing??? I’m so tired of this rule and the refs inability to keep it on the level game to game. I’m completely tired of seeing players disqualified when I don’t always believe intent is there. Hell, give ‘em a thirty yard penalty, or make them sit in a penalty box for a quarter, but the punishment is beyond the crime IMO. To eject a kid and potentially make him miss half of the following week is excessive.
