So do you suppose they drive the busses up from Knoxville only to shuttle the players from the hotel to the arena and airport? Seems like just renting a couple charters would be wiser. Sorry I missed your post… Could be… branding can be huge and they were nice brand spanking new vehicles… AND Tennessee really isn’t that far in a charter…

Here’s my brush with the tourney… I work close to Detroit Metro airport. I didn’t pick any brackets this year nor did I really care about the tourney until I’m driving by a back entrance to the airport and for whatever reason, there are two butt-ugly orange charter buses with the Tennessee logo on their side pulling into one of the airlines within the fence. I didn’t even know they were playing in Detroit for the Sweet 16, nor that Tennessee was one of the teams, so I had to look it up. I’ve run into OSU buses in different locales up here over the years, but it was just peculiar to me to see those orange buses.
I was much more focused on wrestling this year and the women’s tourney.

Well Ohio State has the NCAA champ at 141-Sophomore Jesse Mendez. Another Buckeye, Rocco Welsh made the finals and lost to Carter Starocci (4 time winner). Aaron Brooks from Penn State also won for the 4th time. There were some pretty good matches. I did not know they changed the scoring and now a take down is worth 3 points. A reversal is still 2. I think it made the matches more interesting. Has high school changed also? No… high school is still just two points. They also have changed near falls to now be worth 2, 3 or 4 points depending on how long the opponent is in the near fall position. It used to be 2 or 3, then I changed to 2 or 4, and now to 2,3 or 4…. Not sure if I like either change so far… I still catch myself yelling “Twooooo!!!” when a wrestler hits a late Sudden Victory takedown!! 😆

Penn State wins big again, however, OSU gets a NC at 141, a runnerup at 174 and a fifth place finish at hvyweight. They are very young as a team so overall, it wasn’t a bad showing…

Finals are tonight on ESPN at 7:00 pm. I’ve watched most of every session this year and I love it. There’s so much respect between these guys, some of who are longtime rivals. Even if you listen to many of them in their post match interviews, almost to a man, they wrestle because they love it and are having fun, they are strong in their faith and strong in their families.
It’s worth catching the finals…

I’ve thought a lot about leadership in my life, academically and professionally. Had a chance to work with some world class leaders (and some not so great). The way Jake talks to and about his team represents a type of leadership rarely seen in the upper echelons of anything, let alone college basketball. A truly effective leader serves and works for the people who follow him. Keep that in mind as you read and listen to what Jake says. I’m sure that’s why he’s been a great recruiter, and it makes it incredibly compelling to watch the teams he’ll build and lead at Ohio State. Won't they just fill their pants if he produces a final four in the next five years and what if he won it just once...?? Just being hopeful, but you never know. Respect first- and accolades later...

I believe we realize it's not coincidence Jake what has happened to Michigan basketball? Always good to see your rival take a shellacking at your hands… 😆😆😆

Always nice to see the Bucks take the upset win and never hurts to see the home town kid do good. Considering the timing, he may have justified his name being in the ring… now we’ll see how the rest of the season plays out.

And the first half of the Purdue game is impressive. Edey with a little foul trouble and OSU getting it done in the first half up 35-30. I don’t expect a win honestly, but it is fun to see them showing up.

I would love to see the local kid get a shot, but don’t hold your breath unless great things happen from now until the end of the season.

Not a hard pill at all. Only Buckeye fans are delusional to think that every year is going to be the next world's greatest team. Michigan will lose 3-5 games the next couple years and that's not unexpected. NCAA sanctions?? Crickets. It’s cool by me… I’ll get to see Moore cry more… 😆….

NCAA is going to smack them unless they self impose penalties. They’ve done some of that, but is it enough!? And if they hire the new coach in house, meaning it be Moore, how long until he gets fired as the head of a sanctioned Michigan who will struggle mightily to win again? Just think back to Rich Rod and Brady Hokes days and the whining… At one point, I had to really torment some of them up here so they could remember it was a rivalry.

Harbaugh bailing… I wanted to see that putz take one more loss to OSU, especially since the NCAA sanctions should still be coming. He’s taking his ball and going to LA… good riddance dipshit!

I just wanted to throw my two bits out here as well. I have found my uncle listed in the Upper teams from the late 1950’s and I turned him onto your site as well. What a massive undertaking but it’s really appreciated…. Thank you again!!

I picked up on Clark last season and am aware of her talent. I watched the NC game last year and secretly hope she gets another poke at LSU to even the score….

Two of the main things leading their resurgence this year… 1. The step up in level of play by Gayle and Thornton. They have improved so much and it’s showing. 2. The addition of Jamison Battle, he might be the most valuable addition to any team in the Big Ten. His 3 point shooting and just overall play has been such a huge help. Not a huge basketball guy here, but you can see the value Battle adds just by watching a short while. He has been wicked on the threes so far tonight..

Yep...diesel is king because in part the engines run cooler than gasoline or propane. Damn things will run until hell freezes over.. And don't get me started on how much I prefer air brakes to hydraulics..... LOL!!!

So I raised the question about hybrid cars, but government incentives? HUGE!!! I run a school transportation department, and the feds are putting monster incentives out there for schools to electrify. First, years ago the EPA forced new diesel technology that reduces the soot particulate in a new diesel engine to near zero. This has been an ongoing process over the past 15 or so years. It's why you sometimes see a sign for DEF (Diesel Emission Fluid) at the truck stops where you might be getting gas (Pilot or the like.) The DEF is used in conjunction with a special ceramic filter in the exhaust system to knock the soot particulate down so low that the air in the newer diesel engines coming out is said to be cleaner that the air going in, and buses are a huge part of this new technology because so many are rooted in schools. Now, with the advent of electric vehicles, the cost of the electric school bus has risen astronomically, like in the $300-$400K range. I'm a diesel guy from the word go and I won't be switching over to electric, but as I am told, in federal lottery programs (which I did not apply for,) the feds are covering the cost of the electric school bus so that the districts are not paying for the additional. In comparison, I am leasing brand new 2024 diesel buses as of this month, and the new cost of a stock model is $109,000. The federal programs are then making up that difference of an electric at $300K plus to get the price reduced to the conventional diesel bus cost. What a bargain... I have a delivery guy (so he's a nobody in the company) from my bus leasing company who told me off the record that they have a few electric buses at the shop and they spend about 2/3 of their time in the shop being work on. Granted, there is no scientific correlation with what he's sharing, but just his observation. However, if the electric bus is that wonderful, don't you think even he would be on board??? Nope... I'll stick with my old diesel buses every day...

I’m curious. Have any of you here purchased or consider purchasing an EV? I see that Lexus is advertising a true hybrid and advertising it as such. Electric for short trips and gas for long. Mind you, I’m not giving my Silverado up to sit in a yuppy Lexus (nor a BMW, Audi, or the like) but the marketing of an EV that may attract those of us who don’t particularly need or want an EV is interesting . The marketing of a true hybrid vehicle is going to be key, provided the cost doesn’t go over the top. I know the day will eventually come that petroleum will be finished, but it will be long after I’m dead and gone. However, I would consider something along this line where I can make a choice as a consumer.
Thoughts? Opinions?

Fair enough. I can see what your saying and I'm certain that the hazing idea isn't for everyone. I guess I never took much of that garbage to heart, because most of it was just that... garbage to make you uncomfortable and now, many years removed...laughable. I think Fitz likely went through it himself and so didn't feel a need to impose any type of super stringent rules.... just had the boys being boys mentality. Unfortunately it only takes one implosion to upset the whole apple cart and it cost him his job. It's not the worst thing to be fired for, but he'll be jumping through some hoops to get hired elsewhere. I still think a big program picks him up as an assistant coach or a DC and he lands on his feet far removed from his alma mater.
