I'm certain she wants to win her PV...who wouldn't want to win their events, however this is a no brainer. Top three in the nation brings all the D1 track scouts... even if she doesn't place in the state, they will beat her door down to get her signed and that alone will make her a winner in the long run...
Look at the Aquilla from tOSU... threw mid-40's in HS...didn't win a state title with an 8.8 lb shot, but now has a natty indoors as a junior, and two B1G titles to boot, and has the single best throw in the nation outdoors this year at something like 62'. A shot put that far is exceptional... and yes, I looked it up..she's been throwing the same weight for years.... HS and NCAA girls shot is 8.8 lbs.

Bellevue Junior Kaylin Howey sat the school record in the shot last week. 41' 4 1/2" I think her pr in the disc is around 120'. You probably don't follow Girls Pole Vault, but Margaretta's Stimmel has beaten the state record this season and currently sits top 3 in the nation(I believe). I really did some digging. I think Margaretta is D3, and the current posted record is a little over thirteen feet in Div. 3. Even the D1 record is something like 13'7".... 14' is a phenomenal height.

I grew up at the county line of Crawford and Wyandot. The only brats I found that are close to Carle's were bought at the Sycamore H&G IGA. They also make Bratwurst patties that are awesome. When I am home and can't make it to Carle's, the H&G brats are a really close facsimile...just in case any of you have the need.

I was just sharing some of the Bratwurst Festival quirks with a coworker here in Michigan, for example the huge bratwurst grills that are made to cook in the street with nothing more than concrete bricks and the steel mesh grilling surfaces, not to mention the insane amount of smoke that they produce. Add to that the three day shutdown of the downtown of Bucyrus and the rerouting of all of the traffic... The square dancers in the streets (my parents were two of them,) and the music stages... even the festival royalty. As a kid growing up in the area, it was a fall rite of passage just prior to football season kicking off (it used to start a few weeks later than it does now...) and I never missed "The Brat.." I've even made a point to bring home friends just to visit the beer gardens and get brats there as well. Last but not least, Carle's Bratwurst... I have only found one other bratwurst producer that is even close to the taste of Carle's and I wouldn't be surprised if that establishment had someone who might have worked for Carle's at one time. The Brat will always be special to me in my youth...
I was just wondering about some of the other area festivals that reside in your hearts and why they hold that spot...

God, how I loved dolly football. For those of you who never got to enjoy Swank, he let us play full contact football sitting on little 12" x 12" dollies in the gym, with helmets on just in case we hit the floor hard with our head. The biggest danger was running over your fingers with those damn dollies. You could go just a fast as you could push yourself sitting on that dolly and we would consistently hit back to back. I was bigger than most, so I had a decided advantage. The dollies look similar to these, but I think they had rubber liners on the sides...
"Put your helmet on...there's woodpeckers flying around..." "You run like a telephone pole" <== Just two of my more loved Swankisms.. the telephone pole reference was to him putting me at fullback in the 8th grade after being a lineman until that year... I thought I was going to twinkletoe my way running the ball and he just wanted someone to run 4 yards and create a cloud of dust. LOL!! It was the only game I ever started in the backfield. Thank God I didn't fumble the ball... LOL!!!

41' is real respectable and the 120' is the discus is too. I don't follow girls PV, but if she's top 3 nationally, it sounds like I should. My older brother was an NOL PV Champion in the late '60s, and in my youth he tried to teach my shotput/discus tossing body how to pole vault as well. Never made it off the ground... LOL!!!
Wow...she is just shy of 14'... that's awesome. I had to look her up...

This weekend, Upper Sandusky HS will host the annual Gerald Swankhouse Relays, a yearly track competition named after Coach Swankhouse who had an extended run as a teacher and coach in Upper and I had the honor of not only having him as my MS football coach, but also MS phys ed teacher and HS track coach. Swank was one of those local guys who had his own athletic career before Upper having been a Golden Gloves boxer, and ultimately getting an invitation to join the Baltimore Colts after his football days at Findlay. He had his own particular way of talking to kids and his own brand of saying's called Swankism's that helped endear him to many of us as well. I just wanted to point out that his namesake is this weekend.
You can find his Obituary here which lists a little more of his accomplishments.. Swank

Cool.... I still want a distance. I know there's a few of us on here that threw in the NOL, and it's always good to hear what our youth are doing. Even though the NOL is defunct for all practical purposes, like many on here, I will always have that association in my mind and remember those days fondly.

Crestview's Meagan Garret with a school record 144'6" makes her one of the favorites for a DIII Title. She qualified for State as a Freshman and Sophomore Ontario's duo in the lady's shot. Jahlaya Rimblart 36-8 and Bree Mills 35-10 That's a nice discus toss...not bad on the shot put, but 144 is a heave for a girl...

I haven't really tossed a discus or shotput since the mid '80s in college.... give an old guy a cheap thrill and talk to me about the areas best tosses. I'm preferential to the guys throws, but a girl who can heave it is fun to see too... By the way, did any of you see the young lady from OSU who threw an indoors natty in the shotput? Cool story in that she was only throwing mid-40's in HS, but got on a serious training program at OSU and pushed the envelope...59'5.5"...a pretty serious toss... ohiostatebuckeyes.com/adelaide-aquilla-wins-shot-put-national-championship/

Channel 4 out of Detroit says that Harbaugh is expected to sign a five year contract for $4 million a year with possible bonuses that could get him up to $8 million. This is a pretty big drop in pay, but looks to be lots of fun for the near future of “the game,” and for OSU fans. Just wanted to share as he is expected to sign soon... LOL!!!

Clemson HC has Ohio State ranked 11th in his final AP poll. Sheesh I don’t know if OSU has enough guns to slow down the Clemson offense this year, but I sure would like to see them feed Dabo his nuts...

I won't be trying the vaccine until i am reasonably sure that I need it. I read today that the Pfizer vaccine doesn't prevent the disease, but minimizes the effect of it.. you will still contract COVID, but it will me more mild than vicious. I don't think I want to try that one out just quite yet.

Since Dabo did run his mouth about tOSU not being in the playoffs because they have only played 6 games, and kind of throwing gas on the fire, I would like to see nothing more than OSU and Clemson paired again. Last years loss paired with Dabo's comments makes for good locker room fodder. Sometimes, that locker room fodder is the extra kicker that pushes a team over the top.

eSECpn pushing for an Indiana - OSU rematch o determine east champion. so, god forbid, indiana wins....they split series what does that prove?? eSECpn says Purdue is going to cancel so Indiana is available. Hidden agenda for eSECpn to get 2nd SEC team in??? I believe it would be a suicide move by Indiana. Their first string QB is done for the season IIRC..

The game.... they cancelled THE GAME! The biggest ******* rivalry in all of sports and they cancelled it. I have been abusing Michiganders this week because I'm still buying some of my '90s back from my abusers here, and they cancelled the ******* game.... pussies... (OK, not really...this COVID Poop is nasty, but I always like the opportunity to call Xichigan fans pussies.... LOL!!!) GO BUCKS!!!
Cincinnati doesn't have a game this weekend. They just cancelled their game with Tulsa, but not sure why. It could also be COVID related, however how much fun would that be...

I still have concerns that Xichigan will bail on "the game." However, since OSU fans have already called out the Xichigan AD, I think he is struggling as well to save face since he was telling the public that Xichigan would never walk away from the game just to **** in tOSU's Wheaties. That remains to be seen unfortunately. Methinks there is a lot of abuse that needs heaped upon my Xichigan faithful up here and dammit, I'm just the guy to do it. After the abuse I endured in the '90s, I'm glad to pay it back!! GO BUCKS!!!

I think it's a childish thought too, and someone should probably reprimand me, but I just couldn't help myself. 2020 has been way to weird and much as the need to beat Michigan got worse in the Cooper years in Columbus, the need to beat tOSU has also gotten urgent up here in Michigan... Hell, the need to just put a winner on the field is urgent at this point for Michigan. I have to admit, I took it hard when I first moved here in 1994, but these days, I have to taunt many of them to just get them to quote obnoxious rivalry jokes at me. Most are so beaten down, I have to be an outright *** to get them to fight back.
I guess paybacks are really a *****. ROTFL!!!

I have been playing with this in my head since OSU bailed on this weekends game... (which I don't have an issue with BTW...they did what they saw as correct...) but considering the 6 game rule for the B1G championship, and considering what most likely will happen if a top 5 ranked OSU plays the train wreck that is currently Michigan football...What is the likelihood that Michigan would cancel that game and call it a year? Do you think there is enough disdain out of Michigan to do it? I realize this is a hypothetical presumption and no one wants to believe that it could happen, but OSU has a 17-3 record against Michigan in the last 20 years and only 1 Michigan win in the last 16 years. December 12th doesn't look good for Michigan either versus OSU.
Any chance that U of M would consider cancelling the 2020 game just to avoid the inevitable and to hurt OSU to the maximum... I know it's a childish thought, but it's just something I have been toying with.... LOL!!
