Every third year we'd forgo Canada and spend a month driving west to Spokane and back. On the way out, we always spent a few extra days in Yellowstone. Dad (and sometimes mom) would go fly-fishing in the Yellowstone River. The rainbow trout would practically jump onto their lines. We always ate well on the campstove those nights! Mom could do amazing things with a little salt, veggies, and foil - packets in the campfire to go along with whatever fish was on the menu.

Not perch, but the very best walleye I've had was at a shore lunch in northern Canada. Growing up, my family used to spend a week fishing for walleye up on the Ottawa River in Ontario. Rented the same A frame cabin right on the bank. You could walk 100 yards out and the water was knee deep and then would suddenly drop off over your head. We'd collect mussels from the river, and use the meat as bait. We'd canoe or swim over to an "island" in the middle that was loaded with blueberry bushes. As many would go in our mouths as the baskets. Some of my best childhood memories are from our summers up there. Dad would buy big onions at the farmer's market nearby and use the same beer batter on both the fish and onions. I'm not a huge fish fan, but that meal was always very good - could have been the satisfaction of knowing I caught some of that fish myself; and mom would bake a fresh blueberry pie for dessert with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice-cream on top.

Pizza Cravin' in Norwalk is offering a great special right now. It is geared towards families with school age children, but anyone can take addvantage.
For just $4 - you can purchase a Make at Home cheese pizza kit. This is for an XL pizza - about 17 inches. If you want toppings, it's an additional $2. It has been extremely popular! Who doesn't like homemade pizza. You get the dough, sweet sauce, and cheese. They do not skimp on the portions.
They are a carry-out / delivery only establishment, so they were not affected by the closure of dining in. However, I was impressed with their creativity and flexibility to adjust to the situation. They have found a way to stand out amongst the many pizza places in Norwalk during this time. Plus the low price makes it possible for families who are out of work or short on money to enjoy.
My family thoroughly enjoyed our pizza project, and we plan to purchase again throughout this stay at home order.

If you're ever in Marquette, MI (in the U.P.) Aubree's Pizzeria & Grille is a great spot to eat. Reasonable prices for the generous amount of very good food. The pizza was excellent! Have also had the sandwiches. Just wish this restaurant was closer to home.

Just wondered how many people think pizza is their favorite food. It’s definitely one of is mine. Pizza used to be my #1, but in recent years, it has been dethroned by the steak fajitas at Casa Bravos in Norwalk. I think those are probably a little healthier as well.

I always remember my father sharing the story of Eddie George returning home with his broken Heisman after LaGuardia airport officials insisted sending it through the X-Ray scanner. Broke the tip of the finger and bent others on the outreached hand. I could never imagine why they insisted he put it through the machine. But as I recall . . . he was a class act about it - still enjoying the moment.

Have you noticed any difference in the Milan location pre fire vs. post fire? I thought maybe I did notice a difference, but it was over 5 years between having it before vs. after, so hard to know if that's an accurate perception. We haven't noticed a different in the food . . . but the restaurant is definitely nicer. The game room area is smaller - just games that are off the dining area. They have added a private dining area for meetings and parties. I like the new layout better. Plus the restrooms are much nicer. My mother has a group of friends that meet once a week at different restaurants, and Jim's of Milan is a favorite spot for them. The variety in the menu is very appealing to the group of 70+ year olds. Pizza is a favorite, but so is the taco salad, as well as the soup and sandwiches!

A friend up in the Norwalk area said his favorite was Jim's Pizza Box in Milan Anybody tried it ? Jim's Pizza Box in Milan is very good. They also have a restaurant in Huron. In Huron, I prefer the Pizza House. We have ordered Pizza House to be delivered to different outdoor bars in the summer. Nice evenings listening to live music, sitting by the water, and eating pizza.
