When did they start allowing a running clock in the 1st half, As posted above ? Can't imagine Nasonti agreeing to it, that early. Running clocks are usually a 2nd half thing.

The rule was the running clock was based on the score. The coaches have no say about it. Now if they want to shorten the quarters in the second half that would be different.

In our game last night, It was 35-0 mid way thru the 2nd qtr. We had no running clock in the 1st half. It started at the beginning of the 3rd.

Any idea the last time that Bellevue lost by at least 46 points?

Any idea the last time that Bellevue lost by at least 46 points? 2009 at Tiffin Columbian, 69-7 That I'm not sure of, you'd have to go back a long time to find it Without looking it up, I'm pretty sure that our 31-0 loss to Delphos St. John's in 2005 would have been Bellevue's worst shutout loss in the 21st Century prior to last night.

I'm curious from a Bellevue perspective, having played both Clear Fork and Shelby, which team was more impressive? I know the Colts have played a tougher schedule to date, and hence were ranked well above the Whippets in the first AP poll. Thoughts?

From a neutral perspective...ClearFork wins 20-14 in OT at full strength...Shelby dominates 46-0 without an All-Ohio RB...seems pretty clear to me...

To clarify it is a max of 4 qrtrs in a day and 50 qrtrs in a season(regular season only). Which for this team could be an issue since the jv will get a lot of time on Friday nights. No coach in his right mind is going to play someone who has a significant varsity role on Saturday morning. Nobody cares if a backup/JV player plays two quarters on Friday and a full game on Saturday. That is likely to happen to Shelby all year meaning some JV players could get as many as 6 * 10 quarters and you'll never hear a word because nobody cares. Football has too high an injury risk. It self regulates. Those rules are for bball, vball, etc. Anyone ever heard of a football program getting busted for this? I've never heard of a football program getting busted for this or have I heard of a coach concerned about quarter limits. BUT, that is a OHSAA football rule regardless if it is followed or not. The topic was mentioned so I figured I could make sure fliers62 knew what the quarter limit is. I would say the reason for the starters being in this blowout game for so long, had more to do with suspended players returning and getting extended minutes on the field with teammates.

Check that. 1st half running clock. 33-0. FYI Running clock is only the second half! It doesn't start the first half. Hats off to Shelby. Firing on all cylinders and they will run through the final five league games with no chanllenge and should win the DIV region 14. Very nice team. Good luck to them and we have a lot of work to do. GO BIG RED.

Ah, thanks for the clarification! I wasn't aware that it didn't start until the second half. Also wishing Bellevue continued success for the remainder of the season. Here's hoping these two teams find a way to continue this series!
