KA-BOOM!
Lindenhurst (N.Y.) High five-star Jeremy Ruckert, the No. 1 tight end in the 2018 class chose the Ohio State Buckeyes! This is perhaps the single biggest get for Urban Meyer since he took over the reigns at Ohio State.

He's definitely a stud and at the top but there have been others I'd argue, like Bosa or Elliott or even Vincent.

Bosa certainly rates up there and Tarron Vincent is rated the #1 DT in the 2018 class. I think Zeke wasn't as highly rated out of high school, if my memory serves me correctly.

True about Zeke. Don't get me wrong, this is a huge pickup. Can't wait to see him in our offense.

How many players ranked #1 in the country have committed to Meyer at OSU? Don't have the exact listing from past recruiting cycles, but the Buckeyes have bragging rights for two such cases for the still developing 2018 recruiting class. 5* Jeremy Ruckert, nations #1 TE 5* Taron Vincent, nations #1 DT

If you go by scout's rankings, Urban has 3 in the '18 class alone. Vincent the #1 DT, Mitchell the #1 ILB and now Ruckert the #1 TE.
The '17 class had Davis the #1 OG and Browning the #1 OLB. Some close ones were Okudah as the #2 CB and Young the #2 DE.
The '16 class has Bosa the #1 DE.

Better yet, forgot about Mitchell.
Wasn't Terrelle Pryor the #1 rated high school player in the country overall?

He may have been at one point but I see on scout he was the #44 overall player, #4 QB that year. Not sure what other sites had him rated. I don't think 247 was even used at that time yet.

I think you're right that 247 wasn't in existence yet. ESPN had Pryor listed as the #1 QB and #4 overall. Rivals had Pryor listed the #1 high school player in America. n.rivals.com/news/whats-next-for-terrelle-pryor

Below is the list of Rivals exclusive, 5* players. Think the Buckeyes have a great shot at #2 Pat Surtain, #5 Micah Parsons, #9 Anthony Cook, #11 Jamaree Salyer and #13 Jackson Carman. If we can land just 3 of those 5, this will be an insane recruiting class. Of course, we all know Jeremy Ruckert is conspicuously missing from this list of 5 stars, surprised Rivals hasn't yet elevated him after his dominating performance in Oregon. Rivals 2018 5 star Recruits 1 Trevor Lawrence QB Clemson 2 Patrick Surtain DB List 3 Xavier Thomas DE Clemson 4 Amon-Ra St. Brown WR List 5 Micah Parsons DE List 6 Zamir White RB Georgia 7 Matt Corral QB List 8 Justin Fields QB List 9 Anthony Cook DB List 10 Lorenzo Lingard RB Miami (FL) 11 Jamaree Salyer OL List 12 Tyreke Johnson DB List 13 Jackson Carman OL List 14 Cade Mays OL Tennessee 15 K.J. Henry OL List 16 James Cook RB List 17 Emory Jones QB Ohio State 18 Taron Vincent DT Ohio State 20 Justyn Ross WR List 21 Palaie Gaoteote WR USC 22 Devonta Jason WR 23 Justin Hall WR

If memory serves, wasn't Torrance Gibson the #1 rated athlete in his class?

If memory serves, wasn't Torrance Gibson the #1 rated athlete in his class? I think he was rated the #1 dual-threat QB by a number of recruiting services.

The press hype is a bit mis-leading, at least I was duped initially....lol Cade made a last minute decision to 'grace his presence' at Friday Night Lights, but with one condition....he will not work out or participate.....is my understanding.

Cool.....can't imagine these kids are merely entering their Jr. year of high school and the center of everyone's attention. Most of them handle it so well and with a lot of class. Hope we get some commitments this weekend, hopefully a big one or two.

J.K. Dobbins is going to show his exceptional running abilities and inevitably infringe on Webbers number of carries this season, which I think is a win/win for both players and the team. But my excitement and anticipation points to next year, when Master Teague III enters the fray. If it's not Dobbins, think MT3 will be our next 'great' back. I had the opportunity to see MT3 play as a sophomore in Murphreesboro, where I was visiting and decided to catch a local H.S. game. I didn't know anything about the kid, but he certainly caught my eye that night.
Credit Urban and Tony Alford for spotting this kid and going after him early on, when he was a virtual, unheralded and unknown underclassman. Now that we have his commitment, all the other majors are showing great interest, with MT3 displaying his freakish abilities at camps, but a little too late in the game....fortunately for us.

3* Marcus Hooker, younger brother of 1st round draft pick Malik Hooker has committed to the Buckeyes.

4* ILB K'Vaughan Pope from Virginia, spurns the Gators and commits to the Buckeyes! #7 rated ILB by 247 composite. This kid is a quality young man and possesses academic excellence. The 2018 class grows to 17 and Urban fortifies his #1 recruiting class rating.

The 2019 recruiting Class got off to a 'huge' start with the first commitment. 5* OL Doug Nester 6-6 295, from Huntington, W.V. is the #3 rated OL in the nation. Give much credit to coach Stud for this one.

L'Christian "Blue" Smith, one of the most sought after WR's in the 2018 class will announce his decision today on ESPN as his team plays a nationally telecast game this Sunday. It appears to be down between the Buckeyes and Kentucky, his home state school of which he is a fan of.

L'Christian "Blue" Smith commits to the Buckeyes. The 4* recruit is the rangy, athletic and speedy WR Urban covets. The Buckeyes now have a solid lock on the top recruiting class of 2018.

Big loss tonight as Brenton Cox decommits. He was one of the top rated commits we had. There’s been talk for several weeks now that this was possibly going to happen. Have to get either Jason Oweh or Tyreke Smith now, or hopefully both.

Have to get either Jason Oweh or Tyreke Smith now, or hopefully both. Suddenly, DE becomes an area of need for this recruiting class. Let's hope the Cox decision doesn't influence or encourage Emory Jones to jump ship.

4* TE Kierre Hawkins announces his transfer from Ohio State. With a history of academic struggles, never earned a single minute of game action this year. I think this is best for both parties involved. Hawkins can seek a less challenging academic environment and the Buckeyes free up another scholarship spot.

It’s probably best for Hawkins unfortunately. He was already buried on the depth chart and now with Jeremy Ruckert coming in who will be a stud at TE for us it was only going to get harder for him, unless he did a position change maybe.

Matthew Baldwin, Travis Texas- 3 star (same HS as Baker Mayfield). The radio said that HS has produced 8 straight D1 QB's.
