Willard Dad’s post went right over truecrimsons head. Go ahead, wise one, fill me in on what it meant? Is he speaking in riddles and was being sarcastic? These players are ready and a test or quiz is not going to rattle their ability. You may be the only one on here who didn’t see that Willard Dad was being sarcastic and facetious.

Coldwater honestly looked like a nice average team and every three pointer they threw up in the air I don’t care how many times it hit the rim tonight went in. That absolutely rattled the flashes and it got worse every quarter.
Now I can forget about high school basketball until next November

Much like the Browns great for Flashes fans like yourself to have a reason to care again...

Nothing to hang their heads about, 1 of 16 teams to make it to regionals. Very nice season.

I said they “looked“ like an average team. To clarify that was as you watched them warm-up or wander around on the court pregame. We looked like a taller more athletic team and they look like a bunch of scrappy kids happy to be there. After the game started they looked like Golden State. I’m pretty sure on the usual night they don’t shoot like Golden State but they are still pretty good. I think they shot way over their heads and it rattled the hell out of us.

That's what 23-0 #1 ranked Archbold said before they lost by 1. It may even be what 21-3 #8 ranked OG said before they lost by 3. A little scouting may have helped you out. If Coldwater is an "average team" then that would make your Flashes a below average team and I'm certain you do not think that.

I think Stritch with their experience and talent beat Coldwater in the regional final. We’ll see but I would agree CW is not average for D3...

They were 12 of 20 from three I believe. Considering that they missed their first 2 and last 2 ... that's quite a run.

but buckeye assured us that coldwater couldn't shoot that well again, in 2 different gyms? and coldwater wasn't supposed to be physical and able to outrebound willard? and willard has thoroughbreds! i would hope some fans learn some humility before next season. coldwater beat archbold and o-g for a reason!

I'll own the 3 point shooting prediction --I was wrong. Even the OG coach said after the game,,,"we didn't expect them to go 12-25" Uhhhm,,I doubt anyone expected 12-21. I also said they looked physical and strong and getting beat on the boards was my biggest fear--that was confirmed. I said I "hoped" we would be quicker and be able to out shoot them,,,that did not happen obviously at least from the 3 point line. I for one didn't view Coldwater as average. I spoke with a number of CW fans,,they said the team evolved as the season went on. They were a good team,,and last night shot great. For Dude---are you claiming we didn't scout Coldwater---what a joke. Of course our coaches did. Scouting isn't the end all,,it helps,,but in the end only performance matters. We got beat last night by a better team. The 20 point spread came because of 12-21 from 3,,,and Willard going 5-13 from the FT line.

NOPE, I'm claiming you did not scout based on your comments. I bet good money the Willard coaches did scout and knew they were very capable shooters and not using it as the reason for the loss. An unbiased view was the spread came from not defending the 3pt line well enough against a good shooting team.

I think they shot way over their heads and it rattled the hell out of us. 3-point shooting is contagious. I've seen MANY games that when the first 3-point shot is taken and it goes SWIIISHHH, nothing is prettier. Then the second 3-point shot is taken and it goes in. The basket now looks twice the size as normal and players shooting them do it with ease without thinking. To stop 3-point shooting from being "easy", the opponent must play good man defense and pick up ALL shooters beyond the 3-point line AND be quick enough to keep in front of the player they're defending from driving past them. ALSO teammates have to know who should help, how much to help and when or when not to help. Zone defenses were played A LOT more before the 3-point line was put into basketball. Coaches were ok with opponents taking "outside" shots, they counted the same as layups. Zones helped stopped inside shots, but made it easier to shoot from the outside. NOW, for the most part, teams that play zone can't play man defense well, or they were never taught to play man defense at the lower levels. Playing zone then made it easier to win games on 6th though 9th grade teams. Learn to play man at the lower levels, lose more games then, but become better man defenders at the higher levels.

This is a typical NW D3 regional. AND just when you think that you have a team to compete, the state throws in an ASVSM or VASJ type team from another region.

I'd like to add that we as a team lost our composure last night.we went away from what got us there. We went inside early and had success but when they starting hitting their threes we went away from that. One thing I was hoping for is after half we would come out in some sort of press. Losing by 1 or 20 doesn't matter. A box and one or a trap at hAlf court.I know we went to a 1-3-1 and they killed it from the corners but try something else to get them out of their comfort zone.that being said it might not of helped but I like to go down swinging. Overall I think joe and Hirsh done a nice job bringing these kids together. I know there's a lot of hurting going on with these boys.

Last year at this time, even talking about losing in the Regional semis was a pipe dream. Winning our portion of the SBC even as co -champs--pipe dream. 22-4 Conference Co Champs, District Champ and Regional Semi Finals----I'll take it,,,,this year, but always looking to improve.

Have three returning starters.Parrott baldridge and pingston.Paxton and Dawson should replace polacheck and tripplett. I look for these kids to put in a tremendous amount of work.Parrott and baldridge playing aau together.Paxton is also playing aau.we will be better.

I would like to talk about what we need to have to get farther than we did this year.we MUST have someone else beside coop to shoot the three at a high percentage.ill take 40%.baldridge boy MUST put on 15 -20 lbs.MUST hit the weight room.I might get crucified for this but must change our offense a bit.id like to see Skeeter at the point and run coop of some screens to get open looks at times.he can handle the rock and be a playmaker

I don't believe you'll be better next year than this year. Willard currently does not have anyone on their roster similar to Tripplett.
