Pizza Palooza Fredericksburg Sept 17 2022 5-9pm Fredericksburg is up near Wooster. Is there any pizza in that town ? Isn't it just a little Amish area ?

Never been there, it does look kind of small for a palooza. All I see in town is a place called Lem’s Pizza. Maybe the Yoder families are gonna make Amish pizza pies ? Pizza places from Wooster come? wouldn't think so?
Anybody had Lem’s ??

What’s better canned or fresh mushrooms? We prefer canned. On a pizza I would say canned, but if you take fresh mushrooms and sauté them that’s the way

What’s better canned or fresh mushrooms? We prefer canned. I prefer the mellow taste of canned mushrooms – fresh has too much of that fungus taste, not a fan.

I love Chet's and Matt's in Sandusky Also love Pisanello's Bowling Green (and now elsewhere) Myles Pizza Bowling Green is a 5* (I think they closed recently?) Definately want to try Warriors in Ontario! Did a Google Maps search and was surprised to see the blue Vette on the roof...lol Pretty cool. Couldn't find the Italian restaurant, nothing but empty field across the road, so I assume it's on up the road a bit. When WF called their pizza 'greasy', I'm assuming that grease is in fact, olive oil. The Pisanello's in Franklin Ohio is actually one of the best pizzas I've had. Don't know why but it is better than Bucyrus and Bowling Green must be the water ? Had this Pisanello's Pizza down in Franklin Ohio the other day. You are correct this pizza has to be if not the best one of the best pizzas in the state. Wonder why this location is so much better than the other Pisanello's. We’ve also had Pisanello's from other locations like Bucyrus, and Oak Harbor. We do like the pizza at those locations, but they are nowhere near as good as that Franklin location. Not sure if it’s the water or what it is, but I wish the Bucyrus location would go take lessons.

Found it, the number one pizza. Number One Worst pizza I've ever had that is. Picked up a pizza from Cousin Vinny's Pizza in Springfield Ohio. I've seen some greasy pizzas but this pizza had bled grease through 2 layers of parchment paper then through the courgated box by the time we picked it up. I mean the thick box not that single layer ceral box material. I've had greasy pizza that was still good but this just had a disgusting taste. Took a bite then on the second I spit it out and we went to Cane's right across the street for chicken. Cousin Vinny's Pizza is terrible. Cane's was great.

After we left the flea market at the Medina Co fairgrounds Sunday, we picked up a pizza at Ohio Valley Pizza there in town. It was a weird pizza experience, never saw a place bake just the dough and sauce then put raw toppings on after taking it out of the oven. They put cold shredded cheese and slices of uncooked peperoni on after taking it from the oven while we were standing there to pick it up. Got to be a convenient way for them to make pizza. They can just bake away making a bunch of base pizzas. Then put the toppings on when people pick up their pizza. I wasn't a big fan. Guess you could ask for them to bake it all together but who would think you have to ask. Won't go back, if in Medina go to Courthouse Pizza it’s better.

They are back at the Richland County fair this week, better go try it. Looks like if you didn't get to the fair this year you missed out. Sounds like after around 50 years of food trucking Puglisi is retiring. Sad to see him go. You may have one more shot, I heard he is at the Ashland County fair this week.

Last week I attended the downtown Tiffin pizza party with some friends, an event that had something like 1,500 people attend. You could buy $2 tickets to try different pizza or pizza related offerings from around 20 different Tiffin establishments.
I had slices from 4 different pizza places, I'd rank them like this, in order of worst to best:
4. Jac and Do's Pizza
This managed to be both the smallest and worst quality slice of the night. Wasn't all that much better than a frozen pizza. I hear a lot of Columbian students frequent this place during their free lunch period, but that probably has more to do with proximity than anything. This was the 3rd stop of the night, served inside the actual location. I wish I had tried Napoli's instead, which had set up their tent not too far from there.
3. Fort Ball Pizza Palace
This was the only one I'd eaten previously, years before at the buffet location. I'm not sure if this was from the north or south location, or if that makes a difference. Anyway, I liked the pizza alright. One comment is that it was a bit saucy. This was the 2nd stop of the night, served in a tent across from the courthouse.
2. Reino's Pizza & Pasta
This was a more traditional style I suppose. Good crust with a high edge, and the sauce had a nice sweetness to it. This was the first stop of the night, served in front of the actual location right around the corner from where the event tickets were sold.
1. A.J.'s Heavenly Pizza
This was by far the best one, and lived up to the name. Big generous rectangular slice, thick crust, good blend of sauce, topping and cheese. This ended up being the last pizza stop of the night, served in front of the actual location. I had bought a 5 pack of the $2 tickets, but when it was suggested that a stop be made at the Frozen Yogurt place next I was perfectly fine spending my last ticket there, as AJ's had left me full and satisfied and ready for a dessert finish to the night.

This is my third year attending the Tiffin Pizza Party. I think your assessment coincides with my take on various samplings. Every year, A.J.'s has been my top choice. Every year they had the most generous offerings and the sauce is very pleasing, with a subtle sweetness. Just a good all-round pizza.
Fort Ball pizza is good, but nothing to separate from the competition. I think they take the prize for complete menu options, that include a lot of pasta offerings and subs. If you are really hungry, next time you stop in at their restaurant on N. Washington St. in Tiffin, check out their daily buffet that is quite extensive. One of the best around.
I've always been a fan of Napoli's, lots of sauce and a tad oily at times, but very authentic Italian.
Reino's has consistently been my close second.

A little update on the Bellevue pizza scene. A year or so ago, the owner and operator of Fontanas passed away and sadly the restaurant had to close, Emelios little italy dropped off the face of the earth, they had planned to move into the building vacated by pizza house west on center street. but there was some problems with the building thats keeping them from opening the place. bierkeller pub served pizza, that was good but very greasy and they have closed and have turned into some kind of event venue for bone boys. Pizza wheel continues to dominate the scene with marcos pizza, and pizza hut close behind. every other day, cameo brings in their food truck to town and sets up out out near kfc on 20 and when im in town i get me some cameo. east of chicago has become very inconsistant as of late like jekyl and hyde, you just dont know if your gonna get good service or not in that place. the good news about fontanas, the clyde location is still open because its run by the brother.

Arby's. That building hasn't been KFC for over 10 years now. Anyway, it is weird that Bellevue is down to 4 pizza places (and only one mom and pop). It always used to be in the 6-8 range.

Darn, I've been wondering about Little Italy. I was sad it was closed/hiatus for 15-20 years after having location on Castalia St. Plaza, then grateful when it returned on Kilbourne St. Now?

Had Cassano's Pizza King, I ask, please remove Pizza King from your name, you are not deserving of that title. The pizza was very unmemorable, thin, cut in small squares. We had a pepperoni, half sausage neither side was all that good. The sausage made the pizza very salty. As stated, please remove the King from your title, you may call yourself, Pizza Peasant, that would be acceptable.

Formerly 'Fort Ball Pizza Palace', the owner in Fostoria, went independent and changed the name to 'Fostoria Pizza Palace'. Same great pizza, foldovers, pasta dinners, subs, salads and wings. They have been located on Center Street for years, but are making a big move to a fresh, brand new location with expanded, sit down dining on N. Countylines St., where they have all new ovens, but will relocate the old ovens from the previous location to further expand their serving capacity &capability. Their subs are secon to none and they feature a dynamite 20" two topping special for only $19.95

Pirates Cove is the place for pizza in Mt Vernon, just down from the football field. Good pizza and they also have a gluten free pizza. Pirate's Cove in Mount Vernon closed a few years back, Victim of Covid I believe. Re-open a year or so back as Carpalley's , more of a bar now but they offer takeout pizza. We tried it this weekend, to me the bar setting and pizza were both a big step down from the old Pirate's cove pizza. I would say the best pizza in Mount Vernon is probably from Peppys Pull Thru

I really miss going to Sauced in New Riegel as they had to close back in 2020-21 due to the pandemic. Their pizza and calzones were out of this world

Got brave and grabbed a slice of pizza at the Flyng J truck stop. Got gas around noon, so thought what the heck.
Should have stuck to just getting the gas. Not very good, dry, and little taste. Might be better if you bought a fresh one.

Is price part of the equation in what a "good" pizza is? If a pizza is expensive does it have to be exceptional?
