Cardington 7 Galion 0 at halftime. Neither offense looks alll that great this far. Galion struggling to move the ball, hang on to the ball(2 turnovers), and they just look very young and inexperienced.

7-0 as stated.
Galion offense looked good on the first drive only.
Galiontiger Jr playing well on both sides of the ball but injured near end of first half.
#7 WR injured, probably out of game.
Officiating.....making a mockery of all that is good and holy. Just call it right guys, not one horrendous call and then 3 makeup calls to even it out.
Cardington passing game is as advertised.

Good win for the Pirates. I think the score could have been much more lopsided had we not killed ourselves with penalties. I bet we had every bit of 20 penalties. Unbelievable. Cardington passing game started out on fire but was inconsistent for much of the game. McCarrell had a lot of nice passes that were dropped.
Galions quarterback is very good. I hope his knee is ok. Since he returned to the game I'm hopeful that he is fine. #7 is probably going to miss extended action as he had absolutely no clue where he was, it seemed. Cooke throws the best deep ball that I've seen in this conference in a long, long time. Probably since Jefferies from Pleasant. I know there have been some great QBs, but very few with that size and skill set have ever come through the MOAC. Unfortunately for him, I don't see many wins on Galions schedule, but for Cardington's sake, I hope they win out. Galion dropped some passes too. They have some nice pieces though, #22 #28 and #11 come to mind.
Neither team ran the ball particularly effectively, but that's probably partially due to all of the penalties.
Good luck Galion and Go Pirates!

Cardington 35-14.
Probably a lot to learn from this one. Cardington exposed our weaknesses. Things that went well in the first half didnt in the 2nd half.
It looks like we have all the potential to be a good team, we're just not able to do it for 60 minutes against a team with some threats.
Our problem tonight was execution, turnovers, and penalties that were drive-killing.
As pirate said the penalties were unbelievable (quantity) I'd say we were in the upper teens as well.
The crew they had to put together on a holiday weekend didnt seem to be on top of things.

I was impressed with Cardington I knew they were a good team. Football games are won on momentum changes, us fumbling on that terrible snap on like 3 or 4 yard line to start the game down 7-0 was a killer. I never understood why coaches love going from the shotgun down there like that..so many things can go wrong. You could see this coming with the snaps starting their series. My son struggled again in this game. He's got to get better. Our gameplan was a little puzzling to me. We never ran Caleb Ivy (our backup quarterback from the backfield). That I "thought" was going to be our wrinkle. They kept practicing it, never saw it in the game. Plus why throw deep so much to start the game? I could see once or twice. It just seemed like our offense was never in tune. We are SOOO lucky to be down only 7-0. We gave them too many 4th down..by inches twice too. Our defense has to get better. Another thing I didn't understand was why we had to take our best tackler and pass rusher out of the game #33 and put him on a receiver outside all game long. I'm thinking maybe because Tanner (#7) got hurt earlier in the game. That really hurt us in my mind though. I didn't understand that.
We honestly just were out-play. The score could have been way more lop-sided I agree. We did get one touchdown called back where we didn't score eventually. How many times can we have 20 yard gains and get a holding penalty 15 yards down field. I disagree with the one guy up there. We had to have way more penalties than Cardington, ours were crushing too. I'm not blaming the referees either. My goodness we had to have 20. ha! Well I really wanted this game, but it was for not. Cardington should go undefeated. They are solid.

If Cardington isn't a final 4 team in D6 we will struggle to win more than 3 games this season. We throw deep in hopes that we can complete one and loosen up the D so we can run the ball. I don't know if you've noticed but our rb's are somewhat size challenged and will not be terribly effective when the D is crowding the line. If our qb seriously has D1 potential he needs to be able th throw his receivers open and they need to catch the ball when he does. That is our only recipe for success going forward. Defensively we are what we are it's not going to get much better.

I think for the most part, Cooke hit his spots. From my vantage point I saw receivers run wrong routes and drop the football. Cooke was less accurate in the short game after he tweaked his knee, but that deep ball was a sight to behold. I'm just glad I turned the microphone off in between plays, because it would have picked me up saying "Damn" several times. That kid can sling the rock. I bet combined though that there were close to 40 penalties called in this game.

Zero percent chance that Galion had more penalties than Cardington.

According to National High School Sports Network, and the stats match the newspaper stats, Cardington had 14 penalties for 110 yards and Galion had 14 for 95 yards. That's a lot for a game. Very impressed with the Cooke kid. Great deep ball but needs to work on the shorter stuff like dad said. McCarrell has better supporting cast but struggled. Good thing is, he struggled and we still won. We won and that's all that matters. Ontario will be another big test. Really impressed with our defense. Front line has looked very well so far with 4 new kids upfront. Go Pirates

You got ahead of us. Quit cheating. ha! Like I said before you guys got a GREAT team. I just hope a "few" of our teams in our division aren't as tough as you guys were, so we stand a chance to win a few more games. It looks by the scores though; we got a bunch of tough teams in the MOAC red division. My son has to work on everything. He did finish with 213 yards and didn't play for 3 series in the game, but efficiency he has to be better. Two games now sitting at 51% completion rate isn't getting it done. I'm worried about his knee. He couldn't straighten it yesterday and is limping on it. The picture of the play look bad.

It's really bothering him. It's not looking. I'm going to have to take him in to see a doctor soon. I was hoping not to, but he texted me tonight saying he's worried about it.

Your the dad, you know what's best so I hope I'm not stepping on any toes, you probably know this already anyways, but if I may recommend make sure it's an actual sports doctor that he visits. Family doctor will have him in a body cast and sitting out for weeks regardless of what may be going on. That is just based off of some experiences with athletes that I have heard of.

Great advice Stanley. Was going to have go to the emergency room yesterday, but my mom talked me out of it. We are going to have him go to a sports doctor here in Galion..try to get him in Tuesday. You are correct though, I wasn't thinking.

WF...I haven't heard of anyone recommending him to see anyone. My thing with him was I told him "lets wait until the swelling goes down and go from there." But Stanley had good advice, so we are going to get him in asap to see a sport's doctor here in Galion...I would love for it just to be physical therapy. I bought him a knee brace and ice pack that forms around his knee and everything yesterday online.

IF a coach is reading these message boards to make out his game plan he should not be coaching. :-)
