In recent years the Mansfield problem seems to be getting the team to play consistent ball together. Lots of talent but to much interest in the individual highlight film. And with all the success their coach has had in getting players college offers, the idea of "MY TIME" has grown. That's been my criticism regarding my Alma Mater as well. Classic examples were two years ago against Sandusky and Findlay, especially Sandusky. Let the Sandusky punter punt, and game was over.

It has been a problem with many Mansfield athletic teams in recent years.

Drove by community stadium in Ashland today and saw the old lights coming down. Will be really strange to watch a game next year without 4 light poles in the way.

Many say the OCC is wide open this year with the changes schools had.

was down there for a track meet last year, the turf needs replaced big time Turf will be replaced as soon as the last football game of the 2019 season is played. Not sure why they didn't do it this summer, but with everything else going on at the stadium they probably wanted to wait. Its getting close, would really like to see the lights go up by next week. Other then that, the fieldhouse looks great, home stands look great, after this fall the turf will be brand new. Just need someone to step up and replace the visiting stands.

How old is the current AHS turf?

How old is the current AHS turf? It was in place for the 2006 season. They said originally it had a life of 10 years. I'm guessing with its usage though it probably should have been done already, but it will be ready for next year.

I think the Tiffin Columbian field gets more use that Ashland and I have been told their fields last around 10 years.

Although the first 3 years the stadium was still shared with AU, so Im sure it was used pretty heavy the first few years.

The visitor stands at AHS are really in need of replacement. Hope they can get that done in their renovations

Columbian field is used by Columbian, Calvert, Tiffin Univ and on occasion Heidelberg.

Local media picked the preseason OCC order last night. Mansfield Wooster West Holmes Ashland Lexington Mount Vernon Madison
Not a ton of surprises. I’m a little surprised West Holmes is 4th. Not sure any team in the OCC loses more then they did last year. Overall I think most people would agree that Mansfield has the talent to win this league, now they need to prove it on the field.

I'm not sure who the voters were but they had 8 of them. Mansfield had all 8 first place votes. My guess is there were a few from Ashland/Wooster paper sports guys, maybe a few from Richland Source or WMFD?

Will be interesting to see this play out in the OCC this year. Wooster has some big shoes to fill at QB and lost an outstanding 2-way lineman to Akron Hoban. Time for some of the young guys to step up! They open up with Orrville and then Wadsworth so will be tested early.

Didn’t Norwalk lose the two main reasons that they were very good? That RB and the WR? That’s literally the only two players that didn’t anything Against Mansfield last year.

I’m not saying that you are going to suck. All I’m saying is that you will probably take a couple steps back this year after losing your two big weapons. I still think that you guys are playoff caliber however I don’t see you beating Mansfield.

More than 2 players make a TEAM. Let's see, gotta have a QB make the throws for a WR to catch. Must have an O-line making holes for a back to run through. Then there's a defense that stops the opponent from scoring, that's needed to win.
