From what I saw last Friday, Lexington could struggle against a disciplined throwing team.

From the sounds of it Shelby could struggle against a sound running game.

Shelby played a weak Madison defense.

I think it’s safe to say neither team played an opponent who will win more than a couple games this year. We will learn a lot about both teams this week. Giving up big plays was something Shelby’s coaches were concerned about and Madison hit them on the first play of the game with one. I am expecting a high scoring game with big plays by both teams. I’ll give Shelby the edge at home.

I would say the school record breaking RB may have negative yardage at this point. Most of Lex’s yards have been through the air.
Shelby is pretty balanced run/pass.

Shelby physically dominated the game They beat up Lexington with hard nosed football Pretty accurate assessment. Lex’s running back would have probably been negative yardage except for his TD run early in the fourth. They had a couple of play action passes that netted some yards because Shelby’s D was focused on the run. Lex had 4-5 guys go down for various amounts of time including their #1 RB (see quoted comment above). Shelby’s offense was balanced. Multiple receivers involved. QB and starting RB both with quality yardage on the ground. At least one special teams score. The only thing they would need to completely balance them would have been a defensive score or take away. That didn’t happen, although a DB broke nicely on a late third quarter or early fourth quarter pass and muffed the catch. It was on Lex’s late scoring drive. Would have looked better as it would have prevented that late score. Shelby needs to clean up the penalties. I’d say Shelby was penalized 3-4 to 1. Some deserved, some not so much.

I’d say Ontario is that bad if you’re using the transitive property.

I’d say Ontario is that bad if you’re using the transitive property. I'd say Shelby has not played anyone yet to see how good they are. Although they played bigger schools they have not played football tradition schools and that game should be next week. If Shelby starts 3-0, like they did last year and ended 5-5, they could finish 7-3 or better. Their are only a few traditionally challenging teams on their schedule.

Shelby physically dominated the game They beat up Lexington with hard nosed football This statement has been a "pretty accurate assessment" for the history of most of the games between these teams. Even when Lexington has won the game.
