On to week 6 we go and the 3-2 Clear Fork Colts will be invading Unckrich Stadium to take on the 5-0 Galion Tigers. Clear Fork lost at River Valley 20-14 last week while Galion defeated Marion Harding 42-19. Galion is 1-2 all time against Clear Fork including a 69-35 loss last year at the Colt Corral. This will be Galion’s homecoming as well as their last home game of the season. Thoughts on this one.....

Well, this will be another big game (in a row) against another strong foe. Regardless of Calpreps, etc.; this game should be a lot closer than any prediction (probably even inclusive of "mine). I'll say Galion by 3, 31 - 28. It'll be a squeaker !

From the looks of things, the weather forecast shows that the temperature will be falling into the 50's by game time; so if you plan on attending, dress warmly.

The previous years scores mean very little in this game. Clear Fork is not the same caliber team that they have been in years past NOR is Galion. With that, I haven't seen a Galion team with the high level of athletes and talent at the skilled positions as this team has coupled with a line both on the offense and defense (In a very long time, maybe since 85). Offensively, the Tigers are tough to stop. Had it not been for a fumble on their 1 yard line and another fumble that led to a Marion Harding score... the score would have been 60sh - 7/14sh. They are fast! QB is doing a nice job of distributing the ball as well. Great kid!
Please don't read into my 85 comparison with talent at the skilled positions. The 85 team had much more dominant lines and LBs PLUS the athletes at the skilled positions.
Friday is a huge game for Galion... AND Clear Fork. Should be a dandy but I'll take Tigers by 17 or MORE!

Galion is the best team in DIV, they can beat any team in the state. They are way better than Cincinnati Wyoming who is the defending state champs. I have been to every game and Galion is strong at all aspects skills, line, and special teams. They will go all the way

Granted, if the above guys are suiting up, as I mentioned in my previous post, then I'm with you. Even if they're in their 50s.

I’ve struggled to decide how I feel about this game. Galion has looked good so far but the first 3 weeks were nothing to get excited about. If you go off of the results against River Valley, then you would think that Galion would win easily. But Clear Fork is too good and too well coached for me to stay in that thinking for very long. Coach Dick said it on WMFD and I agree. The MOAC is a rugged conference. You’d better bring it every week or expect to get beat. With a couple of exceptions his teams have done that and I expect the same tomorrow night. This is a huge game, perhaps the biggest since Coach Dick arrived in 2016. A win here improves the Tigers chances at having another home game at the end of the season which at this point has to be a goal. I’m terrible at predicting so instead I’m just going to say I hope for a great game and I hope the Tigers are successful!

Oh, this is absolutely the biggest game he's had since he's been here. And should we win then next week's will be even bigger. I love the development of the offense since week 1. We have, in my opinion, the best group of offensive skill position players of any team in the conference. I just don't trust our defense....yet. Also, I need to see if the self inflicted wounds we kept giving ourselves at Harding were just a blip on the radar or if they will continue as the pressure of the season mounts. Some keep wanting to bring up '85. Just stop it. Let them play and enjoy the show. If you're looking for comparisons I think you're looking more at 2009 than 1985. But, I've been wrong before. It is a shame that the game isn't on the new turf at CF though because I have to say watching these kids perform on turf is a treat.

"It is a shame that the game isn't on the new turf at CF though because I have to say watching these kids perform on turf is a treat". One thing that I've seen with the Tigers is that their team is "fast". Nothing new here, but fast turf promotes fast teams and vice versa. I was on the field at Heise Park last night and it is in excellent condition; natural grass that's cut relatively short and not terribly chewed-up. Although it's not artificial turf, it's is darned good shape considering the fact that this is already the 4 th home game (plus innumerable younger kids games) that have been played on it. Additionally, I hope the Tigers don't start slowly offensively and that the defense is really to play. Mental toughness will be a key, and just plain old ENERGY will be an important key as well. As for all of the "State Champ" talk (seriously?), the mindset here should be "One Step At A Time" and only that and nothing else. In my mind, this is definitely the most important game that has been played on that field in quite a few years. I am psyched and I hope the Tigers are, too ! Go Tigers ! Side note: Clear Fork "posters" must be resting up for the game .

The one thing that stands out in my mind when looking at this matchup is CF’s win against Bellevue. The highest quality win against a bigger consistently strong football program.

The State team comparisons are unavoidable but I would agree they probably resemble the 2009 team more. The game and playoffs are so different today that there is no guarantee the 85 team would be a state champ if playing today.

The State team had ALL the skill positions filled with great athletes AND dominant lines and LBs! Completely different level of caliber team. Doesn't matter what anyone thinks that team would do in todays game. Everyone thinks that the old school players couldn't complete in the league today.... but they shined when it was their time and they have the rings to show for it. Same with the 85 team.

As far as I see there is only one person touting Galion as a State Championship caliber team. And he appears to be a dumplike individual.
OH? is Galion 100% 2 platooning this yea? That was probably the single biggest factor that led to the success. If memory serves they had like 70+ players on the 85 team. Take it back, the single most important factor? Their head coach became a successful college coach.

CF looks like they came ready after losing to a bad RV team who is only up 7-0 against Ontario. Gallon needs to bring it in the second
